Chapter 1253
Ms. Gliss’s hand, holding her chopsticks, trembled slightly. She glanced at Chloe Collins and said to the Master, "Master, this is home, not...."
"No matter where we are, we shouldn’t abandon our courtesy. I wonder how your family raised you!" His sharp gaze shot toward Chloe Collins.
Meeting his gaze, Chloe Collins smiled faintly, neither obsequious nor supercilious, "Are you talking to me, Master?"
The Master’s voice deepened, "Not only don’t you understand manners, but you also can’t understand human language."
"Your father, he’s Tristan Collins, isn’t he?"
Chloe Collins said indifferently, "You should ask him that."
"What kind of answer is that!" The Master’s brow furrowed, convinced that Chloe Collins was deliberately provoking him.
At this point, the impression of this Miss in his mind had completely turned negative.
Manie York glanced at Chloe Collins indifferently, then said to the Master, "Grandfather, the food has cooled. Here, try this."
Ms. Gliss also smiled as she served him more food, "Master, it’s simple fare. I hope you won’t despise it."
With this big shot present, Ms. Gliss couldn’t say what she had prepared. According to her intuition, no matter what she said, this big shot would not easily change his mind, and it would be bad if she made things worse.
With that in mind, she decided to approach it from a different angle.
"I heard that you two are now classmates in the same school and the same major. It’s such a coincidence."
Manie York: "That’s true. We’re the only two girls in our grade."
"Twenty years old and only a freshman, so, did you repeat a year?" The Lord’s deep gaze shifted to Chloe Collins.
With just that simple sentence, the atmosphere tensed up once more.
Ms. Gliss lost her appetite.
"Master, Anders..."
"I am speaking." The Lord’s authority was overwhelming.
Chloe Collins continued eating placidly and responded calmly, "It’s kind of you to be so concerned, Master. You even know my age?"
"It’s because it was mentioned by the host at the exhibition." Manie York sensed the mockery in her words, feeling a bit unhappy. How could younger people slight their elders?
Ms. Gliss put down her chopsticks, forcing a laugh, "Manie, Chloe, both of you are my students. Try to get along like good sisters. You can study together, make progress together, support each other. Wouldn’t that be nice?"
"You’re naive, Ms. Gliss. How could rivals become friends?" The Master cut in again.
Ms. Gliss felt her heart about to leap out of her chest. She couldn’t believe these words had come from the Master’s mouth and was at a loss for words.
At this moment, Chloe Collins spoke: "Rivals may be overstating it. I suppose you two are overthinking."
As the conversation progressed, they found it impossible to continue eating.
Manie York felt humiliated. Remembering the words that Alexander Foster had said to her, she stated, "I’m full. Teacher, I’m not feeling well. I’ll go first."
With that, she dropped her chopsticks and walked out.
Alarmed, Ms. Gliss hurried after her to appease her.
The Master didn’t stir, he sat calmly in his place, even taking a bite of a rib.
Chloe Collins was even more composed than him, eating unhurriedly, completely at ease.
Suddenly, the Master spoke, "Leave Alexander Foster. Just state your price."
A frigid tone carrying an air of command.
Chloe Collins asked, "How much can you offer me?"
Seeing her take the bait, a trace of contempt leaked from the corner of the Lord’s eye, "Just name your price."
"Alright."
Setting down her chopsticks, Chloe Collins picked up a napkin to wipe her mouth. Looking at him calmly, she said, "As for material possessions like money, those I do not lack. I heard that your life, Master, has been quite legendary. So, give me that life of yours. If you can do that, I’ll agree."
"You’re playing me!"
Chloe Collins sneered, "And isn’t it true that you, Master, are also playing me?"
