Chapter 123: Chapter 123: It Has Nothing to Do with You
Chapter 123
He started the car quickly, not giving her a chance to refuse.
Chloe Collins reluctantly let him take her to Albert Green’s place.
It would take some time to get to the hospital, and during this time, she instinctively turned her face towards Alexander Foster.
Separated by half an arm’s length, she could easily smell the fresh scent emanating from him, tendrils of it making their way into her nostrils.
In less than three minutes, she felt the pain in her heart subsiding, as if a demon had instantly released its grip on her throat.
Unable to explain this strange occurrence that happened again, she found no reason for it.
She always believed that everything in the world had a source, but this time, she was stumped.
After the symptoms of discomfort had disappeared, she said softly, "I’m fine now, we don’t need to go."
Alexander Foster continued driving with a bad expression on his face.
"When did you start to feel unwell? Why didn’t you tell me?" he asked, his voice deep and cold.
Chloe Collins wasn’t used to his attitude, and simply replied, "It’s none of your business."
Growing up, she always tried to solve any problems herself, never asking for help easily.
Alexander’s eyes darkened, and the passing streetlights cast a cold air on his profound features.
The car sped up.
Chloe noticed his mood, knitted her brow, and turned her face away, expressionlessly watching the streetscape outside the window.
This was Albert Green’s first time seeing Alexander Foster up close.
He happened to be on the night shift today and suddenly received a message from Chloe Collins saying she would come over.
He wasn’t surprised that she came, but he didn’t expect her to arrive like this—wearing a beautiful formal dress and being carried by a handsome, cold-faced man.
Annoyed, Chloe opened the car door and was forcibly carried by the man all the way up, almost triggering her instinctive fight response.
She pushed down on his shoulder, jumped off him, pulled a chair, and sat down.
"You go out first," she said without looking back at Alexander Foster.
Standing motionless behind her, Foster told Albert, "She had a fever twenty minutes ago, please check her thoroughly."
Albert smiled faintly, eyes shining as he looked back and forth between Alexander and Chloe.
"So, you’re the famous Mr. Alexander Foster?"
He laughed, "In comparison to this child here, I’d rather give you a checkup first."
Alexander Foster listened to his mocking tone, his deep eyes exuding a frosty anger, "Do you want to keep working here or not?"
Albert wasn’t intimidated, but instead smiled even deeper, his gaze shifting back and forth between Alexander and Chloe, seemingly imagining countless possibilities for their relationship.
Chloe crossed her legs, appearing bored, "Uncle Green, don’t provoke him."
Provoking this man would be very troublesome.
She had always disliked trouble.
Upon hearing her comment, Alexander’s expression improved, and he understood the relationship between the two.
His mind worked quickly, coming to a conclusion as he coolly asked, "You’re her primary physician?"
"He’s just my relative. You can go out first," Chloe said.
Seeing Alexander’s deflated expression, Albert held back a smile, delight filling his eyes.
In order to make her see the doctor peacefully, Alexander hesitantly left the room to wait outside.
As soon as the door closed, Albert asked, "Chlo-Chlo, what’s going on between you and him... "
"Nothing special, Uncle Green. Just keep your eyes clean," she replied.
Albert didn’t take it seriously. While he got up to take her temperature, he teased, "You’re still young and don’t understand love. Uncle has experienced it, you know. Once a man sets his eyes on a woman, that gaze is different. Believe in Uncle Green."
