Chapter 1209

But at that time, she was rendered speechless.

The dense, complex algorithms suddenly became strange to her, making her feel like an outsider.

She never expected, that one day, she would be outdone by others in her own field.

While she was lost in her thoughts, a neat greeting came from the doorway.

She suddenly looked up, and spotted a man enshrouded in light of Star and Moon Radiance, walking slowly from the doorway, his posture was dignified, his presence was outstanding.

He was always the most radiant one.

Without thinking much, she quickly picked up her bag and walked over, directly blocking his way.

"I need to meet you concerning Jerry River."

At this second, she stared at Alexander Foster’s eyes, expecting to see surprise, astonishment, or even shock in his eyes.

Two seconds later, the anticipation in her heart was diluted by the calm indifference in his eyes, leaving her feeling hollow inside.

He did not show any surprise, as if he did not know the name at all.

However, her master would never lie to her.

Just as she was uncertain of what to do next, the man spoke, "Mr. Willis, take her to the reception room."

Having said that, he turned his gaze away and sauntered off.

Manie let out a sigh of relief but at the same time, she felt puzzled.

Why wasn’t he surprised?

She followed the assistant to the reception room and waited. About ten minutes later, she was informed she could enter.

This was the first time she was doing this kind of thing; she felt unsure and somewhat uneasy.

In the end, she pushed open the main gate.

The room was designed with three sides of French windows, making it unbelievably bright and offering broad views.

Inside, there was only Alexander alone, sitting quietly at the desk, patiently waiting.

"Please take a seat," he said mildly.

Just after a while, the secretary came in with coffee.

Manie was talking to him from across a table, but she didn’t dare to look him in the eye.

She was never so timid even under normal circumstances, but today was special; she felt uncertain.

The secretary left, and the room became eerily quiet again.

"Miss York, please speak," leaning against his chair, he exuded an intimidating presence- calm yet stern.

Finally making eye contact with him, Manie slowly regained her usual self-confidence, and asked, "Do you know Jerry River?"

Her master merely told her to mention his name here, and the rest, Alexander would tell her, so she was waiting for Alexander to speak.

But Alexander replied, "Did Miss York come here to look for someone?"

A frown creased her forehead; this was not how she imagined things to develop.

She subconsciously reached for her phone to ask her master what was going on.

"Jerry River is my master, I have studied Ancient Martial Arts before, he was my teacher."

Alexander was silent, quietly observing her, as if waiting for her to get to the point.

This attitude made her even more anxious.

Alexander did not do as her master suggested. Hearing his name did not prompt him to tell her something.

Left with no other option, she asked directly, "Do you know him or not?"

Alexander’s gaze swept across her face, contemplating deeply, he slowly said, "Miss York, I don’t have much time."

Manie understood the implication behind his words; he meant for her to get to the point without beating around the bush.

She was utterly confused at this point; her mind was whirling, and she had no idea if she was being tricked by her master or if there was a misunderstanding somewhere.

Alexander stretched his hand towards the phone, seemingly planning to call someone in to see her out.

At this moment, a thought flashed through Manie’s mind and she blurted out, "Not only did my master teach me Ancient Martial Arts, but he also was my personal doctor. He is proficient in medical skills. He used to be a member of the special team of national medical researchers in your country!"
