Chapter 1152

"But it’s not fair, they had Damien Hart and Robert Foster backing them, I only had Tony Marshal, of course I lost." She sniffed, her expression somewhat improved, "Yes, that’s it, I didn’t lose to her, I lost to Damien Hart."

"But... why did I lose the School Beauty contest?! It was one-on-one." Her mood plunged again.

Her emotions crumbled, her usual confident and collected demeanor nowhere to be found.

She spread her hands: "This is unreasonable, unreasonable! She just drew a picture, didn’t she? I can do that too, my skill is way better than hers. This is a dirty trick, it’s not honorable to win this way!"

Her words didn’t convince her, the next second, she frowned, nearly crying: "But, this is how competitions work! She didn’t do anything against the rules!"

The three roommates who hadn’t left yet: "..."

Roommate A: "Who would have thought, Manie could be this crazy, talking to herself."

Roommate B: "She comforts herself one moment, then deny herself the next? I don’t get it."

Roommate C: "Isn’t it obvious? One side is the undeniable truth, the other is simply being unwilling to admit defeat, she can’t bear to lose."

"Never mind, let’s go, if the young lady loses her temper later, we’ll all suffer."

Roommate A: "You think too badly of her, when has Manie ever thrown a tantrum like a spoiled young lady? She just has a big ego and a competitive streak."

Roommate B: "Yeah, it seems like you’ve always had a bias against her."

Roommate C turned and left: "Aren’t all rich girls the same? They’ve never seen any hardship, throw a temper tantrum at the slightest setback, so delicate and fragile."

She pulled her hat down and left.

The other two roommates whispered to each other and walked off, side by side.

After Zoe Slater left, Chloe Collins went to change into the clothes that Alexander Foster brought.

The previous outfit had become sweaty and she decided to take it home for washing.

By the time she came out, Alexander Foster hadn’t made it back from the parking lot yet, so she began walking toward him to lessen the wait.

On her way, she passed by the open-air dining area of the Osmanthus Garden restaurant, separated from the car road by only a low flowerbed wall, no more than 1.3 meters high.

As she walked, the smell of grilled meat caught her attention, and she turned her head to look.

Plenty of people were barbecuing.

A familiar figure caught her eye.

Anders Spence walked in from the entrance, scanned the courtyard, and his gaze unintentionally landed on her face. A second later, he looked away.

"Jameson Spence, over here," called a girl from a table next to the flower bed.

Anders Spence walked over, his expression blank: "Where’s Cherry?"

"She’ll be here soon, sit down first, have a drink."

"She invited me but she isn’t here, where did she go?"

The girl stood up and tried to take his arm, but he pushed her away with a look of disgust. "Don’t touch me, where’s Cherry?"

"Don’t be mad, Cherry is just testing you. You better have three drinks to apologize, or she won’t calm down so easily."

Chloe pulled her gaze away, not in the mood to watch the show, and continued walking.

Not long after, Alexander’s car drove over and they headed back to the Foster’s house together.

The house was quiet, as if no one was home.

However, as soon as Alexander got out of the car, a shower of confetti fell from above. Evelyn Thompson and the others on the second floor were wishing him a happy birthday.

Alexander brushed the confetti off his shoulder and said, "I’m going to my room first."

"Wait!"
