His Mafia Prince
Chapter 88: We Will See About That

Chapter 88: We Will See About That

(MILES)

It isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that Sasha really did kill Arlo’s father. He and I both have killed a ton of men than we can keep count. It’s just the nature of the job, not that we are guilty of it. But it would help if I knew who Arlo was. "So, all that talk back at the bar about your father was just for show?"

"Everything I told you about my father was true. He was controlling and it’s true that I liked to annoy him. He did try to coop me up at his home. Even so, he was still my father and I won’t rest until I take my revenge on Sasha."

I grunt. "Who was your father again?"

"Kasi Sullivan." He lifts his chin.

"You’re Kasi Sullivan’s son?" my eyes go wide.

"Yes, I am." I notice how his hand trembles slightly as he speaks.

Now everything makes sense. I know who Arlo is. Sasha came down very hard on the Sovereign ring syndicate to which some of Angelo’s rogue followers were from when they kidnapped Tyler and hurt him. "I heard about your father’s passing. I’m so sorry."

"I don’t want your condolences." He scowls angrily. "It’s your boss’s fault my father is dead. And you had a hand in it. You aren’t innocent. You helped him to all the shut he did to my father."

"Yeah, I’m not innocent, no." I hesitate. But Sasha showed restraint when your father went after Tyler. If I’m being honest, I thought Sasha would have all your family killed. But he spared your life."

"Spared my life? Restraint?" he screeches alarmingly, his eyes going wide. He took away almost ninety-nine per cent of my father’s business. He humiliated my father and then killed him."

"Again, I’m sorry for your loss. But your father had it coming when he went after his omega."

"So what? Was it right for my father to be killed just because he wanted a slightly bigger piece of the pie? He was loyal to Sasha’s family for decades before he defected. What was so wrong about him wanting a slightly bigger piece?" he demands bitterly. "What was the worst that Sasha could lose if he just gave him what he wanted?"

"Sasha was right about your father. He was greedy and he made a poor decision when he decided to work for the enemy. What’s worse was he went after Tyler. That was a foolish move."

"But he didn’t hurt Tyler. He said he wasn’t going to hurt him." He says, with a hint of hurt in his voice. I can tell by the way he is speaking that he is still hurt. But there’s nothing he can do to change what happened. His father was dumb enough to think it was a good idea to cross Sasha. Nothing good would ever come out of that.

It’s already bad enough that what he knows is a lie.

"That’s what you know? Well, he lied to you. And assuming what he told you was true, there was no way Sasha could have known about that. You know as well as I do that in this business we don’t entertain bluff." I sigh and sit on the cot again. My body grows weaker with each passing minute, and I grow worried. Will I manage to escape feeling this weak? "All Sasha knows is your father, too, hurt his omega, and he wasn’t going to take it lightly."

"Not by my father." He snaps harshly. "How would he have known that Angelo was going to involve him in his shady business? How would he have known that Angelo hated Tyler and wanted him dead?"

It dawns on me that Arlo’s revenge plan will not work by a long shot. First, I doubt if his expertise matches Sasha’s. He doesn’t have half the power that Sasha has and he’d get crumpled the minute he tries to go against him. Part of me pities him but he is just a child who wants revenge for his father. I have to admit it is a bold step he took, even though it is the stupidest of plans.

"Choices have consequences." My voice is hard and unyielding. "Your father, too, took part in hurting Tyler. He needed to be punished too. If you can’t see that yourself then you’re just a fool as well. But I already know you are because you thought it was wise to kidnap me. So what? You think this is going to make things any better?"

"Who says I’m interested in making things any better? I want Sasha Adonis dead. You’re like a brother to him and I know he won’t let anything bad happen to you. He’ll come for you. And then, I’ll make him pay for what he did to my father."

"We are all disposable in this game. Me, you, your old man. Pieces need to be sacrificed when necessary. Sasha will not risk everything to save me. You’re out of depth." I say hoping he buys the lie. "And even if he does, he won’t forgive you twice, you’ll die."

He inches closer to me and then snarls. "That’s fine by me. I’m more than willing to die but Sasha dies with me. And trust me, he will die. You’re only trying to throw me off to protect your boss."

I bark out a condescending laugh. "Protect him? From what? A low-level runner with delusions of grandeur? Your plan was doomed from the start, kid."

The threats he’s making cause anger to surge through me. I try to grab him, but unfortunately, I can barely coordinate. He evades my grasp. He bites his jaw and then slams the cattle prod on my chest. The electricity jolts through me and I grunt. The prod sears into me and I feel as if my whole body is on fire. I’m in pain, but I grit my teeth against it. I’m not about to make pathetic whimpering noises in front of Arlo. I will not give him that satisfaction.

I crumple back onto the cot and Arlo scowls, stepping back. "Oh, I see you want to get the party started early?" he smirks.

My chest throbs painfully. "Fuck you." I hiss. I’ll be lucky if this little shut doesn’t straight out send me into a cardiac arrest.

"No. That’s enough." I wince, bending and clutching my throbbing chest. I hate that I’m this vulnerable and powerless and at the mercy of this fucker. I can barely defend myself. I can’t even if I wanted to. The haze is really annoying.

He backs up and leans on the door frame. "I’ll come visit again later today. And let me warn you, it won’t be nice."

"How far do you think you’ll get with this?" I yell at his receding figure. "I will fucking kill you with my own hands." Even though I’m talking tough now, I am weak as a lamb. I can barely stand straight for a minute. He could easily bring me to my knees right now. Usually, I’d have taken him, but I suspect that the drug he injected into me is something else. It sure has done a number to me.

His response is only a burst of harsh laughter as he climbs the stairs and locks me in the dungeon again.
