His Mafia Prince
Chapter 72: Somebody Has To Know

Chapter 72: Somebody Has To Know

(SASHA)

The car screeches to a halt when we get to Mortus clinic. I’m too impatient to wait for the elevator so I take the stairs, two at a time.

Miles hurries fast behind me as we run past the bewildered patients who I’m certain wonder what the fuss is all about but that isn’t my concern right now. The ones who know me don’t wait until I get to them to pave the way. A bile rises at the back of my throat as I push the said doctor’s door open and glance around.,

"Tyler?" I ease inside, not even bothering to close the door behind me. A tall skinny omega turns his attention to me, bewildered just as the patient he is attending to. The examination room looks unkempt. It looks just as I thought, except Tyler isn’t inside.

I make way to the room at the back and flung the door open. Still, there’s no sign of Tyler. I hoped that I’d find him in there. I hoped that he’d be lying on that bed. I just hope that he can pop out magically, even with a little damage done, but just here.

A quick glance around the room completely dashes that hope.

I unholster my gun and turn to Mortus, the trigger halfway depressed. I don’t have time for his bullshit. He was more than willing to watch my omega bleed out on that disgusting bed all because he was too greedy. He looks at me and mutters something that I can’t quite place. I’m curious to blow this fucker’s brains off but I can’t do that just yet because he is my best shot at finding Tyler.

"Where is he?"

"Where’s who?" he lifts his trembling hands over his head. I can already sense a commotion building outside but I don’t care. I’m either leaving this dump with Tyler or with Mortus’ brains on the floor.

"Tyler," I yell. "Tyler Adonis.

"He said he was going out to get some air," the scared receptionist shouts from beneath her desk.

Miles doesn’t wait for more explanation before storming out.

I can barely think straight. I’m trembling with rage and anger. Every passing minute without a sign of Tyler seems to amplify the rage that I’m on the brink of losing my mind. Seconds later, Miles’ head pops by the door and he gestures me outside.

I rush past the patients, knocking everything out of my way and find him questioning some alpha.

"Speak up," he says, pressing his arm on the alpha’s throat.

He blinks up with teary eyes. "I...I heard―"

"Heard what?"

"The...the omega ..."

My throat muscles feel like they are constricting like they are strangling me from the outside. I want to throttle the alpha. Doesn’t he realize that I don’t have time for this? I need to find Tyler and he is stuttering like I have all day. "Can you speak up and fucking tell me what you know?"

Miles lets go of his throat and he coughs. The dreaded look on his face is enough to tell me that something terrible happened. I’m approximately two seconds from shaking the information out of him.

"They... they found him in the alley." He finally says. He pulls a piece of paper from his pocket and holds it out to me with a shaky hand.

It simply said Gaffney Memorial. Gaffney Memorial isn’t the closest hospital. But it is the closest level 1 trauma centre.

I push him out of the way and sprint to the car, and so does Miles.

I can’t help but think that Angelo has done something terrible. The next time I see that fucker, I’m going to rip his throat out. He would have come to me instead of going around my back to hurt my omega. I feel it in my gut that he’s hurt him. He didn’t have to hurt Tyler to prove a point. I know what he is capable of. Just like me, his reputation precedes him. Preemptively hurting Tyler is unnecessarily cruel, even by my standards.

I’ve already murdered Angelo in my head a million different ways before I make it to the receptionist desk at the ER.

"Can I help you?" the receptionist looks up at me from her computer and flinches the moment she notices me.

"Is Tyler Adonis here?"

She types something on her computer and clicks around then glances up at me again. "He’s in surgery. You might want to take a seat. Someone will let you know once he’s out."

Something knots at the pit of my stomach. Surgery? Why? How much damage could have possibly happened for Tyler to end up in surgery?

"Can you tell me what happened?"

She shakes her head and then points to a uniformed officer talking to a paramedic. "Try over there."

A cop? Great. Just what I need on top of this clusterfuck of a day. I make my way over to the duo regardless. When I get to them, I clear my throat.

The cop straightens immediately, giving me a once over as his hand casually drifts to his gun before he notices me. "Mr. Adonis?"

I ignore him and turn my attention to the paramedic. "Did you bring Tyler Adonis here?"

They exchange wary glances then the paramedic answers. "Yes. Are you related?"

"Can you tell me what happened?" I ask impatiently.

The medic grimaces and lowers his voice. "it’s not good. He was rushed straight into surgery. We were able to stop the bleeding but he lost a lot by the time we got here. Whoever it was, they worked over him pretty good."

I feel sick to my stomach. "Who?"

The cop looks at me. "That’s what I’m trying to find out. But no one saw anything, or so they say. You sound like you know him. Do you have any information that can help? Were you with him?"

Guilt hits me like a sledgehammer. I should have been with him. I shouldn’t have left him alone even for a second. If I’d been there with him or insisted that he come to the party with me, none of this could have happened. "No..."

Words fail me. All I can manage is a whisper and I shake my head.

He rambles many other things that I hear but don’t listen to. I shift my attention to the medic. "D...did he say anything?"

The paramedic shakes his head. "Sorry. He was out the whole time."

I nod and drift away from them, reeling from the little information I get from them. I’m not surprised that nobody talked to the cops because they knew they’d be next. As soon as I step out of this hospital, I will knock down every fucking door in a two-block radius until somebody talks to me. Someone must have seen something and whoever did this to Tyler is going to pay. I don’t care if they work for a rival syndicate, Angelo or the fucking president.

This is my fault. If Tyler survives this, he will surely hate me. My decisions have made his life a living nightmare and I make no excuses for that. I turn and walk in the opposite direction, forcing myself to breathe evenly before I explode.

It is because of me that Tyler is in this hospital. I ruined his life, all because I was too selfish to listen to what he wanted. For a moment, he was a good thing in my life, but now I’m afraid I might have destroyed it.
