His Mafia Prince -
Chapter 69: Because I Do
Chapter 69: Because I Do
(SASHA)
Miles continues. "And to be sure the loose ends are clean, both Tyler and Angelo need to die."
I glare at him sharply. "Touch even a strand of hair in Tyler’s head and you won’t live to see the morning."
"Okay." Miles holds up his hands and his face tenses.
"I don’t give a flying fuck if Angelo dies. But no one hurts Tyler. I’m not fucking joking, Miles."
He nods curtly. "Got it, boss."
I rub my face roughly and guilt nudges at me. It frustrates me that I’m taking out my anger on the one person who can help me get out of this situation. I’m so enraged that I can barely control myself. "I’m sorry... it’s just―"
"I get it," he shrugs. "He is your omega."
I wince. "Yes, he is. And I can’t let him go. I get the sense in everything you’re saying but I...I can’t let him go."
We are silent for a bit. "Think of it from this angle. If Angelo doesn’t know about the baby, and it’s just us and Tyler who do, then it could be less dangerous, right? So long as the secret is safe, the worst Angelo can do is to rub on your face that he slept with your omega. At least that carries less weight, right?"
I nod. "True."
"And whatever relationship those two had was before you, before you brought Tyler here."
"Yes."
"See, that makes it even less meaningful. Now we just need to find out if Angelo knows about the baby or not. If he doesn’t then we have some room to plan out our next move."
"The only way we can be certain about that is to talk to Tyler. Find out if Angelo told him anything about the baby."
He looks at me warily. "You should do that, Sasha. You should talk to Tyler."
Frustration eats at me as I stand. "Yes. I guess I should." I rake my fingers in my already messed-up hair. I head out the door. "Wait here."
"Sure, boss."
I head up the stairs riddled with fear and jealousy. I’d have sworn Tyler was in love with me the last few days. I’ve come so far with him that I just don’t see how our fragile bonds are about to be ruined. The way he looked at me seemed so different. I love him. I know I do; I just can’t bring myself to admit that out loud. It’s already obvious given that I can’t let him go. I hope he loves me too, because if he does, I’ll move heavens and earth just to be with him.
Everything now depends on what Angelo knows. If he isn’t aware of Tyler’s pregnancy, we might go through this situation unaffected. What he doesn’t know cannot hurt us. What he knows however could grind us.
I push the bedroom door open, expecting to see Tyler by the window where he loves to sit, but he isn’t in the room. I pace downstairs to ask one of the house staff.
"Have you seen Tyler?"
"He said he was meeting you for lunch in town," the maid says, blinking at me nervously.
"W...what?" my eyes go wide. "I’m right here with you."
His face flushes red. "B...but, he told me... well, he... he said...I...I―"
Something knots at the pit of my stomach as I hold her bewildered gaze. "What? He left the house?"
"Yes, sir. James drove him to town."
"When?" I yell unconsciously.
I turn away from her and yell. "Miles, get down here."
He opens the study door and appears. "Yes?"
"Tyler had James drive him into town, about an hour ago." I say breathlessly."
"What?" he frowns. "Why would he do that?"
I shake my head. "No idea, we need to find him. Fast."
We head out and hurry towards the car. On our way, my mind ponders all the places he might have gone to. Has he gone to Angelo’s house? Has he been secretly seeing him? My gut churns with rage and jealousy at the thought that he could’ve been seeing him all along. Then again, I find it hard to believe because I know he hates him so much.
"So where do we look first?" Miles asks, heading down the long driveway.
"let’s drive by Angelo’s. Just to be sure."
"He isn’t there, Sasha," Miles says, turning the car onto the main road. "He can’t be there. We both know that."
"I hope he isn’t there, because if he went to Angelo’s, that could be a big problem for us."
"Probably. I don’t think he went there though."
I’m so paranoid and jealous that I can barely think straight. What if Tyler really has feelings for Angelo? How the hell will I live with that? If they’re in love―a bile rises in my throat at the thought. I’m so angry that I want to puke. My head hurts, and so does my nose. Hell, my whole face hurts. I try to think of how Tyler looked up at me this morning and it does calm me down a bit. He can’t be in love with him. I know he loves me. Just me. I know he does.
Miles accelerates down the highway and I press my back on the car seat. I make a few calls, the first one to James. Unfortunately, he has no credible information that can help me at the moment. He was totally fooled by Tyler. Tyler had him drop him at some restaurant and told him that I’d bring him home after lunch. James had no reason to doubt him.
I call the restaurant to check If Tyler is still there. He isn’t.
Of all the worries I have right now, the biggest one is that Tyler is roaming around the city alone. That is dangerous because I have tons of enemies who’d love to snag my omega and hurt him. Tyler is too naïve to realize that he is posing himself in great danger. Or maybe he just doesn’t give a fuck. I’m not sure why he took off. We’ve argued countless times, but he has never once taken off.
"Hello," I pick up and answer my phone as soon as it rings.
"Mr. Adonis," I recognize the voice immediately. It is one of my lackeys. Geoffrey.
"Any news, Geoffrey?"
I could ask him how he is doing on a normal day, but right now I have no time for pleasantries.
"Yes," he says and a bit of relief floods me.
"Where is he? Do you have eyes on him?"
"No, I don’t. But I just got information from an associate who told me he’s been seen at Mortus’ clinic.
"Whose clinic?" I furrow my eyes and Miles glances at me looking startled. "Who the fuck is Mortus?"
"he’s some creep who pretends to be a doctor. He isn’t qualified and his patients don’t seem to care about that. The ones that step in his clinic tend to be very desperate."
"Get me the address now." I bark. "How long ago was this?"
"About half an hour." He rattles off the address.
"Thanks, Geoffrey." I hang up.
"That Mortus guy, I’ve heard of him. He is bad news. I’ve heard that he does more harm than good to his patients."
"What the fuck is Tyler doing there?" I groan frustratedly. "I got a million good doctors that can help him. Why did he have to sneak off to some quack?"
"He wants something that you won’t let him have. I heard Mortus does abortions."
"Oh, hell no." my heart sinks. "That little slob is severely anaemic. Why is he pushing for the abortion when he knows it could cost him his life?"
"He must be very desperate."
I drag my shaky hand across my face. "If that asshole dares do anything to hurt Tyler, I’ll skin him alive."
"That’s becoming your new theme."
"Can you drive faster?" I grit my teeth.
"Yes. If you want us to wrap around a pole."
I have no choice but to sit tight and try to not imagine Tyler bleeding out somewhere on a table. This wild goose chase pisses me even more but I try to keep my cool for when I meet Tyler. I need to remember that he is doing this just because he is scared.
My only job right now is to convince Tyler that I love him. That I still care about him no matter whose baby he is carrying.
Because I do.
