His Mafia Prince -
Chapter 26: Show Me Your Throat
Chapter 26: Show Me Your Throat
(SASHA)
Judging by the way Tyler and Father look at me, I can tell that they are surprised at the intensity of my words. I straighten my jacket and sit back down. "Coming at my omega would be disrespectful. If he has a problem with me then he needs to face me like the man he claims to be."
"Yes son"
I watch Tyler’s slender fingers grip the chair. He looks more worried than he was before, but that’s because he’s only beginning to understand how things work around here.
"What will Angelo gain by hurting me?" Tyler asks, looking terrified.
Father regards Tyler thoughtfully as though he is contemplating something. "If Angelo manages to get to you and hurts you or kills you, it will make Sasha look weak. That alone could cut Sasha at the knees. Then, some of the men could take his side. That’s all it takes for them to defect. Angelo is scheming and cannot be trusted."
"But I thought they’d be furious that someone tried to hurt Sasha’s family?" Tyler scowls.
"Most of them would be," I say. "But there will be some who’ll take it as a weakness and take Angelo’s side. "It isn’t intellectual men were talking about here, they are pit bulls. The men follow the meanest dog. That’s how they are built."
The way Tyler turns to me surprises me. "Then you better be the meanest dog, Sasha. I didn’t agree to this crazy marriage just so I could get myself killed. That was my fate if I didn’t agree. Now that you got me to agree, you better make sure I live a long happy life."
Father laughs gruffly. "Tell him."
It irks me how my family finds Tyler’s insolence toward me funny. "Don’t worry, Tyler. If anyone will have to slit that beautiful throat, it’ll have to be me, not Angelo. You’re so stubborn."
"Haha, very funny." Tyler mocks.
"No one is going to hurt you, Tyler," Father says sternly. "It’s my son’s responsibility to take care of you and keep you safe, and I trust him to do it well."
"I hope he does," Tyler says, looking sceptical.
"Great." Father nods, shifting uncomfortably as though he is in pain. "So, tell me more about yourself."
"There isn’t much to tell." Tyler’s face twitches.
"Any family?"
Tyler’s face drops as he purses. "I’m not quite sure about them. I haven’t seen my parents since I was seventeen."
I know that is true because I made sure to run a background check. I needed to be sure that he’d never worked with any syndicate before. He was an only child. I also know that both his parents are dead. Drug overdose. Separate times.
"Do you want to know about them?"
Tyler’s brows knit close together. "What?"
"I asked if you want to know about your parents."
"No." he jerks immediately. "I don’t care whether they are alive or dead." His eyes darken.
"Well, that’s interesting," Father says, "Considering family is everything to the Adonis."
"Well, I don’t have one. My father donated sperm and my mother offered an incubator. Our relationship started and ended at that."
"Yet here you are," the father says. Thanks to them you are alive."
Tyler shrugs. "Oh, well..."
"What of the child you’re with?" father asks sternly. "Did you also offer an incubator? Is the father a sperm donor?"
Tyler tenses visibly. I can tell that he is uneasy considering how raggedy his breathing just became.
"I don’t want to talk or even think of anything to do with this child and his father. I just want both of them gone."
Tyler’s words are harsh. Yet I noticed that every time he speaks about the unborn baby, he circles his belly in an almost protective manner. It makes me wonder if he is conflicted or is having second thoughts about terminating the pregnancy. Or did he love the alpha that got him pregnant? I don’t even want to think about it because it makes my stomach churn. I’m not sure why, but the idea of him being in love with another alpha doesn’t thrill me.
"Then why are you still pregnant if you didn’t want it to begin with?" father asks.
"Well, I didn’t have the money to do the abortion. I was trying to save up some, but I got fired."
"Alright, I see." Father sighs. "Have you ever been claimed before?"
Tyler’s eyes go wide like saucers. "What? No!"
"Let me see." Father says, leaning closer to Tyler."
"What? You don’t believe me?" Tyler asks, looking something between angry and disgusted. I’m beginning to get the idea that he thinks everyone in my family is an asshole. Well honestly, we are. But it’s only important we know to avoid the repercussions later. It sure feels like invading his privacy, but we have a lot to lose if we overlook simple things like those. We have to know.
A flush of pink travels over Tyler’s face.
"No, I honestly don’t." father shrugs. "We have to know if you’ve been claimed before, otherwise, it could be a problem for us. Sasha can’t marry an omega that was already claimed by another alpha. Show me your throat."
Father’s tone causes a tinge of anger to rise through me. I’m confused as to why. His tone kind of feels invasive and makes me want to protect Tyler. What is this? Am I mistaking embarrassment for something else?
I did however drop the ball when I didn’t check Tyler’s neck for another alpha’s bite. For whatever reason, it didn’t even occur to me that I was supposed to check for that. I had been too busy pursuing him and was in some sort of a frenzy to make him obey me. I wanted him to stop being stubborn for a change. I wanted him to submit to me.
"What’s this?" Tyler asks looking annoyed. "I’m not some mare you bought off an auction."
I feel bad for him, but we have to find out. "Just do as he asks, Tyler."
He hesitates for a few suspended seconds then reluctantly lowers his collar. Father squints, regarding him keenly. I do the same, but my focus flies away the minute my eyes land on that milky, slender neck. The sight does strange things to me. It makes me feel things, stirring sensations in me that I haven’t felt in a long time.
It makes my mouth water when I remember the dream where he was begging me for my bite. I feel heat rush all over my body and need punching me in the gut. Just a mere look at his neck intoxicates me this much. I’d be crazy not to be, wouldn’t I?
I need him. I want him. I need to feel the fierce edges of my teeth sink into his neck. I need him to feel the pain of being a stubborn slob since I began to pursue him. What wouldn’t I do to get a taste of that neck, even this once? I bite my jaw as I pull my gaze away from Tyler’s neck.
"There’s no bite mark." I clear my throat, hating how hoarse I sound.
