His Mafia Prince -
Chapter 179: Not So Fast
Chapter 179: Not So Fast
(JERICHO)
"Trust me, Miles is preoccupied with what happened today. I’m sure he will want to strike back at the Sharks’ Clan for putting his son in danger. He won’t be thinking of us now. I guess Sasha already has a plan of retaliation formed together with Miles. We are probably the last thing in their minds now."
"Okay." He exhales shakily. "You’re probably right."
"I know I am." I reach out and touch his cheek. I’m glad when he doesn’t wince or move away. "Come to my room tonight."
Uneasiness shifts through him. I can tell from the way his eyes flicker. "I don’t think that’s a good idea. It’s too risky. This was already a mistake."
"Why?" I frown. "We are adults, Wesley. We can have sex if we want. I don’t think that will interfere with your job in any way."
"You and I both know that Miles won’t see it like that. If he catches me sleeping with you, I’m sure that he will fire me."
I snicker. "Then I’ll just hire you again."
He lets out a gruff laugh. "As what? I’m a manny, not a concubine."
"Listen, Wesley. You aren’t going anywhere." I move closer to him and I’m thrilled when his breathing picks up. "No one is going to know what we are up to except us. We just need to be really careful." I say, slipping one hand around him and he leans into me, what excites the hell out of me. The fact that he is accepting my comfort makes my insides to goo. That’s a sign that he still wants me even though he is nervous. He just needs a little more coaxing so that I can sleep with him again. "Please come to my room tonight, Wes. I need more of you."
"I shouldn’t." he shakes his head.
"You should."
His gaze roams my face then rests on my lips. "Shit, Jericho. You’re not making it easy for me to make the right choices."
"I’m not trying to make it easy. I’m trying to seduce you." I smirk as I smith my hands on the small of his back. "Please, Wesley. Don’t disappoint me tonight."
"Good lord! Why can’t I just say no? What is wrong with me?" he trembles then presses his face on the crook of my neck. He inhales my scent deeply, which is a good sign again, I guess. He places his hands on my hips and kisses a trail up my throat to my mouth. He presses an open-mouthed kiss on my lips and I gape to deepen it. We both groan and kiss deeply. His lips are greedy and once the kiss is over, he says, "Okay, I’ll come up to your room once I’ve put the baby to sleep."
I am relieved when he says that, but I know to squash any sign of it. I don’t want him to have ideas that I was really scared that he was going to turn me down. He has so much power over me and that’s the last thing that I want him to know. "Awesome."
"I just don’t want to get myself in trouble."
"You won’t." He looks like a scared little boy, so I ruffle his hair. "Let me see if the coast is clear." I open the door to take a peek and almost faint when I catch sight of Miles striding down the hall, heading straight for my room.
What the fuck?
Panic surges through me and I quickly step back inside the room. I leave the door slightly open. "Hide." I mouth the words to Wesley.
For a few seconds, Wesley looks confused but then his eyes go wide and he lunges towards the bed, sprinting round the mattress then ducking behind the massive bed. I turn and open the door just as Miles arrives.
"Oh, hey there Miles." I say awkwardly and my body language is off. A bead of sweat breaks on the side of my face and my pulse picks.
He glances down at his phone for a moment then looks up at me. "What is wrong with you?"
"N...nothing. I’m fine. Why would anything be wrong?" I wince inwardly, hating how I just stuttered.
"You’re acting weird." He narrows his gaze.
Turns out Wesley was right. Miles is really good at reading people. I shrug and try my best to calm the fuck down. "Well, I almost died today. Is it awkward that I’m feeling a bit rattled?"
"I guess not." He purses his lips and studies me.
"Is there something you wanted?" I clear my throat.
"Uh, yeah. I texted you, but you didn’t respond."
"Did you?" my knees are almost wobbling as he studies me. "I must have been in the shower. What did you want?"
"You seemed pissed off earlier."
"I did?" I frown.
"Yes. When I wanted to talk to Wesley first and not you. You seemed insulted."
"Oh, that? You explained yourself. I understand why you needed to talk to him."
"Okay." He hesitates. "I have time to talk to you now. If you want that is. I texted you to come see me."
"Sorry, uhm...I didn’t notice your text."
He scans me up to down and takes the robe. Were you napping in the middle of the day?"
"No." heat rushes to my cheeks as I meet his gaze yet again. "I told you I took a shower. I was pretty shaken after what happened and I needed to relax. So, I took a shower. Or is there some law that bans me from showering?"
The best defense is offense, right?
"No." he shakes his head. "Of course not." He rubs his jaw, still frowning. "Well, so do you want to talk to me? Or you’re still pretty shaken up?"
"I’m alright now. Shall I meet you in the study?"
Please say yes and go away already.
"Sure." I don’t think I’m imagining things when I notice that he is trying to scan my room. He must not see anything that interests him when he says, "Alright, I’ll see you in ten. Don’t be long. I have a lot of stuff to plan. The Sharks Clan have no idea what they started."
"I’ll be down in a little bit."
He grunts and heads back down the hallway.
I watch him go and once I’m sure that he is down the staircase, I close the door then lean against it. I let out a long, shaky breath. "God, he almost gave me a heart attack"
Wesley pokes his head from beside the bed cautiously. "Is he gone?"
"Yes."
He gets up from his hiding spot and moves towards me. "See, this is why I told you sneaking around was dangerous. This is what I was afraid of. Miles is always around. Too fucking alert, shit. That was close, Jericho."
"I know." I smile weakly. But if you come at night, the chances of Miles popping up are slim. I agree that it may be risky during the day. But I think we will be just fine at night."
"Is that right?" he smiles grudgingly.
"Yeah." I press a kiss on his forehead. "I need you, Wesley."
"You’re one pushy bastard." He says amusedly. "Fine, I’ll come to your room tonight, unless of course I see Miles lurking around."
"That’s more like it." I smile then glance towards the door. "Now let me make sure that it is safe to leave." I open the door and peek out at the mostly empty hallway. "It’s safe."
He begins to slip out the door but I grab his arm. "See you tonight, Wesley. I’ll be waiting."
He nods. "Okay." He then slips out of my room down to the hallway towards the stairs.
Once he is gone, I close the door and laugh. It’s a happy giggly laugh that makes me want to kick my feet like a little baby. Being around him lift my spirits. I have a long boring day ahead but just knowing that I’ll get to see Wesley at the end of the day makes it less daunting. He is special to me. I need to tread more carefully because if I don’t, I might end up getting too attached.
But in a few weeks, Wesley will move to a new post, and I will go back to my old life. Then he will just be my distant, delicious memory.
