His Mafia Prince -
Chapter 143: Break Him, and I’ll Kill You
Chapter 143: Break Him, and I’ll Kill You
(ARLO)
I let out a few soft grunts as my cock erupts with release. It hits my abs and I smile against his lips with a sense of satisfaction.
I press one last kiss on his lips before I droop my face down his shoulder as my breath shudders. I wrap my hands around his neck and he holds me close.
"Give me a second." He whispers, nuzzling at the mark on my throat. "I think I died."
He chuckles and squeezes me into a hug. "Was it that good?"
I move to lie beside him, and he rests his arm possessively on my leg. After a few minutes, I lift him and tug my pants off then grab tissues to clean my mess.
He watches me cleaning up and laughs.
I meet his amused gaze and my cheeks suddenly feel hot. "You did this. If you didn’t taste so good, I wouldn’t have to...you know..."
"Yeah? " he smiles.
"Mmmh." I sigh and toss the tissues into a nearby trash can then lie down again. "Do you now see that I have no intention to kill you?"
He nods. "I do." He turns to face me. "How do you feel about the pregnancy?"
"I don’t know." I shrug. "Maybe I feel okay. But I’m scared."
"I don’t know if anyone is ever ready for pregnancy Bringing a life into the world is a great deal. I doubt if anyone would ever be ready for that."
"I guess." I scowl. "Were you really serious about what you said about us hiring a nanny?" he might have just said that at the moment because he thought it was what I wanted to hear back then."
"I was serious about what I said back then. Like I told you, I want to be very much involved in this child’s life. We both have work to do. Sasha will want you to run your syndicate. Of course, you will have to prove yourself to him a little bit. But that’s typical of Sasha with someone he doesn’t know."
"Right." It is weird to not feel resentment towards Sasha now. I feel as though I have resigned. I accept that I’m never going to accept revenge against Sasha. I’m not even that thirsty for it anymore.
"I can help guide you." He says. "I have a lot of knowledge that I bet will be useful to you."
"Sure."
"That was too easy." He grins.
"You have been Sasha’s aide for all this while. You are his second. You could always step in if need be. I would use your expertise to my advantage."
"I know nothing when it comes to babies though." He frowns.
"I guess I’ll hang around Tyler more. I’m sure he will show me a lot that I need to know about handling a baby."
"Yes. Tyler and Sasha’s mother will be very useful to you in the coming days."
"Yeah. And maybe Sasha can help you relax all the tension of becoming a dad. I never thought he’d make a good father, but I see how he is with Martino Jr."
"He is." He touches my belly again. "I have had the strangest few weeks of my life."
"Me too."
It is awkward to be at peace knowing our wedding ceremony will be on Saturday. But I know that trying to stop this union is like screaming at a tidal wave to hold back. I cannot stop it. No one can. All I can do is go with the flow and hope that I can keep my head above the water.
***
The wedding ceremony takes place in Sasha’s study. Rays of sunshine stream through the ornate glass windows at the far end of the room. The bookshelves tower above us, laden with leather-bound classics.
The justice of peace is much younger than I thought. They said the usual justice of peace wasn’t available, so they sent a younger one, Justice Fitzgerald in his place. He has bright ginger hair and big brown eyes. He clutches his bible as though his life depends on it and sits beside me and Miles.
Miles looks strikingly handsome. He is dressed in a black silk suit with a beige tie. He is thoroughly groomed. Even his hair has been trimmed. Our gazes meet and my heart races.
Lucia looks demure in a pink lace dress. Her white hair is pulled in a high, sleek bun. Jericho stands next to her in a fitted dark suit, looking bored as hell as he taps on his phone. Sasha and Tyler are seated next to them. Tyler is carrying Martino Jr. who is exceptionally well-behaved today.
I am calmer than I thought I would be. Maybe it’s because Miles is sitting next to me. I’ve always underestimated alpha’s abilities to soothe their omegas, but now that I have experienced it first-hand, I can attest to the truth of it.
Justice Fitzgerald glances at his notes and then clears his throat. "Erm...We are gathered today in this library. I can’t help but think how many times this room has witnessed the numerous stories written in these books. But now that Arlo and Miles say I do to each other, this room along with us will be witnesses to a new story, their love story, bounding them together in a simple profound celebration of their love."
I notice how Miles lips twitch when our eyes meet. Myself, I’m forced to stifle a laugh. Justice Fitzgerald might be trying his best to sound poetic but it sounds a little bit cheesy if you ask me. If he keeps referencing weird quotes from books and stories, I might think that we are at a book club, and not a wedding.
Thankfully, he gets to the actual vows. I pledge my loyalty to Miles, promising that I’ll stick to him for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health until death do us part. At some point, I find myself tearing up. I’m not used to showing my emotions near a bunch of people, and I find it somewhat embarrassing. Miles squeezes my hands and winks at me. For reasons I don’t understand, that subtle gesture softens something inside of me.
Miles sounds more stoic and less emotional as he says his vows. He looks deeply into my eyes as he recites them. He sounds sincere and I feel it in his voice. I’m certain that he will do everything in his power to protect me. He will comfort and cherish me. I find it hard to reconcile that this is the alpha thug that I met at the bar a few weeks ago. I still feel the same excitement I felt for him that night.
We kiss at the end of the vows. It is a deceptively chaste kiss. Anyone seeing that kiss wouldn’t realize the sparks that ricochet when we are alone.
Once the ceremony is over, we enjoy the sponge raspberry cake. Miles seems so delighted and I can’t help but grin as he eats the cake. The family toasts us with champagne, but Tyler and I are served sparkling cider.
Sasha noticed at one point that I’m standing alone near the cake table. Miles is teasing baby Martino at the far end of the room. Sasha walks over and stops in front of me. He gazes at me assessingly. He is all power and aggression. Whatever joke made me think I could take on him and win was sick. He is in a league I will never reach.
The intensity of his gaze makes me flutter. "Do you need something?" I ask, fingering my champagne flute nervously.
"Miles truly cares about you." He squints. "You better treat him right." He sounds threatening.
"This wedding was your idea." I grit my teeth.
"Whatever. Just make sure he is happy."
"Stop worrying about my marriage and worry about yours." I wonder why Sasha feels he needs to nag me into making Miles happy when I have every intention to do so. I hate how he nags me.
"My marriage is perfect and I have nothing to worry about." He sniffs.
I bring the glass to my mouth and take a sip. My hand trembles slightly and it pisses me off. Classic Sasha notices it and smirks. I’m sure my cheeks are flushed. "Miles will be as happy as I will make him. Now quit bullying me on my wedding Sasha. Walk away."
He glances at Miles who is now holding Martino Jr. He returns his glare at him. "If you break his heart I will kill you."
I understand his fear. I havent exactly had a smooth relationship with Miles since we met. And I understand his fear of me hurting him. Even Miles himself didn’t trust me up until the very last minute, but I’m not the villain here.
"Will we ever talk without you threatening me, Sasha?" I ask quietly. "Don’t you ever get tired?"
"Miles is important to me." He shrugs.
"He is important to me too!" I snap.
Sasha nods as he moves away. "Good."
I sigh with relief and return to Miles. I find him bouncing the baby on his knee as he beams a smile atme. His muscles bulge on the material of strained suit. His rugged face looks the farthest thing from gentle. I watch how he is holding the child and my chest tightens.
When we first met, I just dismissed him like some thug. Now I see the worth on him that I didn’t see back then. He has so much love to give. In that rugged body of his is a lifetime’s worth of love stored in. He has never been brave enough to show it.
I’m going to show him that he can trust and share his love with me.
