His Mafia Prince -
Chapter 111: I Must Have Been High
Chapter 111: I Must Have Been High
Feeling Miles’s muscular chest behind my back and his thighs spread against mine irritably turns me on. Having his arms around me and his palms spread on my tummy makes me feel weirdly needy. Weak even, and I fucking hate it. I don’t understand these feelings. I don’t give a flying fuck about Miles. Why would I? Because we had sex? Please. That means nothing. That was short-lived.
Despite this uncomfortable unsettling attraction, I have to admit that something is going on between me and Miles. My attraction to him is not my conscious choice. It was purely my instincts drawing me to him. I’ve never been in touch with that part of myself, unlike other omegas. Me craving Miles is very unnatural.
But I still accepted his knot and bite last night.
I must have been crazy.
Memories of how pathetic I was last night resurface and I wince. I have let him fuck for the second time. Twice! The fact that I don’t like him but I keep letting him in my body makes no sense. Last night felt like total madness descended on me. Perhaps if I was in my right mind, I wouldn’t have let him mark me. I don’t understand how I went into heat despite taking the heat-suppressing pills.
I need to get myself together regardless of what happened last night. If I wanted an alpha to sire my child, which I definitely don’t, Miles would be my last choice. I would never choose him. He is a brute thug who kills for fun. He is never alpha I would make babies with in my right mind. I hope that I’m not pregnant because if I am, I will terminate it without a second thought.
Fear slams me when the dirt bike sputters. Is the engine dying on us? What could have gone wrong? I catch Miles’s tension too. His arms instinctively tighten around me as though he is protecting me. Luckily, the bike keeps going and I sigh with relief.
I expect Miles’s hold to loosen, but it doesn’t. He rests his chin on my neck and I feel his warm breaths puff against my ears.
Part of me wants to shake him off me, or maybe head-butt him. I don’t give into those feelings though. I tell myself to not do that because I might end up tipping the bike and land us both on the rocky ground. But really, I don’t think that’s the reason for my hesitation. All I know is the idea of hurting him or breaking his bones isn’t exactly appealing right now.
I still plan on murdering Sasha. Which means my plan to kill Miles is still intact. But for now, the truce works in his favour.
We spend another ten minutes on the road and then finally reach the point at which the road intersects with the highway. A few miles away, a gas station is located. I gun the engine because it is running really roughly and yell over my shoulder, "Should I just go for it?"
"Yes." He shouts. "We need to get to that phone as fast as we can."
As we leave the safe side of the road and pull into the tarmac, anxiety eats through me. I race down the road until I see a gas station on the right side of the road. I feel like I have a bull’s eye on my back as I take a turn into the gas station.
"Pull over to the side." He yells on my shoulder.
I pull over and notice a skinny alpha wearing a baseball cap. He is seated in front of the curb on the phone booth, blowing a gust of smoke from his mouth. He clocks us as we halt past him to the side of the building.
I elbow Miles. I think that is Dalton’s guy, and he spotted us."
Miles slides off the bike even before it stops. "I know."
I park the bike and get off of it as quickly as I can. Miles has already disappeared out back the building and is out of sight. I worry that the skinny alpha has already spotted us and passed a warning to his people. I follow Miles’s path and peer around the building. The alpha slumps into the payphone and leans beside the booth, cap pulled over his face.
Miles handles the guy, and I’m glad that he does but when he slips into the phone booth, I get angry. We didn’t discuss who would make the call first. I guess Miles thought it was him since he is always so entitled and always makes the command decisions. Was that why he jumped off the bike? So he could call Sasha and have him ambush me in the middle of nowhere?
I frown at him through the glass panel of the phone booth but he gives me his back. I try to push the door open but he blocks it with his foot. He picks the receiver, then hangs up again.
He yanks the door open. "Give me the change." He says gruffly.
"Don’t look at me."
He frowns. "You stole my wallet when you kidnapped me, Arlo. I want some money. Loan me then."
"No." I shake my head and laugh humourlessly. "let me make the call first."
He narrows his gaze at me. "Then how about I just take the money forcefully? I’m being nice by asking you."
I shrug. "I’d like to see you try."
He smirks. "How much effort do you think that will take me?"
"I think you might die trying."
He grits his teeth. "You’re the mouthiest pig-headed omega I’ve ever known. You’re so frustrating. I could snap you into half without breaking a sweat."
He is probably right, that I know. But he won’t risk attacking me in public. So I shrug arrogant. "Kill me if you want. I’m the one with the money."
"Arlo!" he yells. "Give me some money."
I sigh. "What? Do I look like a fucking vending machine to you? I don’t have any cash on me. All I have are credit cards."
He glances at the phone and then back at me. "That will work. This phone uses credit cards." He holds out his hands again like the entitled bastard he is "Give me your credit card."
"Like I said, I make the call first. I’ll only give you the credit card if you let me make the call first."
"Jesus, Arlo...you’re a pain in the neck." He mutters.
"And you think you’re prince charming?" I shake my head. "You aren’t." I hold his annoyed gaze. I can’t risk him calling first and having me ambushed God knows where. "We could do this all day, now will you hand me the phone or not?"
"I don’t trust you."
"Pfft...like that’s news to me. I don’t trust you either." I tug out the wallet and wave it in his face. "Decide, dumbass. Time is ticking."
"My call is more important."
"As usual. Your needs are more important than others’ Miles, aren’t they?"
"What do you even need to make the call for? Why wont you just take off with the bike huh? I’ll stay here and wait for Sasha to send people. Isn’t that a win-win for you? Or do you prefer that Sasha catches you here with me? Are you that desperate to die?"
I squint. "you really think I’m that stupid to leave with a dilapidated bike? How is that a win? It could break down half a mile from here. Who knows if you’ll call your boss and have him ambush me at the bottom of the mountain?"
He sighs impatiently. "You keep arguing and you’re gonna get us both killed."
"Then give in!"
