Chapter 1644: Strong Work Ethics

Chapter 1644: Strong Work Ethics

After Iris Long visited the Orchidia Philippines headquarters, her group headed to a nearby local restaurant. Linda Chua and her fellow executives also came with them.

Iris’ schedule for the day was extremely full. After the quick lunch, she and her entourage said goodbye to the others and headed for a series of media tours. Linda Chua accompanied them and served as their guide as she was the one who arranged the publicity plan in the first place.

Quick guest interviews at various news program and even a magazine photoshoot—Iris Long’s day was fulfilling but also exhausting. Even so, she thrived in this kind of high-paced environment where she could promote her business and also meet more Filipino Black Stars.

By the time that she was finished, it was already evening.

"What do you want to eat, love?" Jin Liwei asked as he helped her remove her high-heeled shoes while they sat in the vehicle’s back passenger seat.

"Let’s just eat dinner at the hotel restaurant," Iris said before sighing in satisfaction when her husband began massaging her feet. "I’m too tired. I just want to take a hot shower, go to bed, and sleep after dinner."

"Alright." Jin Liwei continued massaging her wife’s tired feet.

Earlier today, Iris called Long Jinjing during a brief break. She talked to her twins who immediately bawled upon seeing her and their father. Iris almost cancelled her trip in the Philippines to go home right there and then. It was only when Jin Liwei and Long Jinjing persuaded her that she agreed to stay with great reluctance.

Good thing that she listened to them.

When her mind cleared, she realized that she almost did an impulsive thing. She personally approved and signed her work commitments in the Philippines. Deserting them would not only tarnish Orchidia’s reputation but would also damage her personal integrity.

As someone who valued her own strong work ethics, abandoning work commitments was something that she never wanted to do without any valid reason.

She could only suppress her yearning for her children and comfort them. It took a great deal of professionalism from her to continue today’s work obligations. Her heart was crying out to be with her babies.

Fortunately, her husband was a constant source of security for her. His presence alone was enough to calm her restlessness.

Back to the present, Iris once again called Long Jinjing. Unfortunately for her, the children had already fallen asleep. Long Jinjing panned her phone’s camera to show the cousins with the cats and dogs sleeping in a row on the bed.

"Don’t worry, little sister," Long Jinjing said. "Little Mochi and Little Matcha didn’t stay too upset after your earlier video call with them. Zihao brought the kids to the training ground and let them watch the handlers training their dogs. The kids loved watching their dogs doing so many cool new tricks for the first time. They also ate a lot and didn’t cry when it was time to wash up."

Iris sighed in relief. "Thank you, Big Sister."

After the call ended, Iris took a short nap in her husband’s arms. Jin Liwei woke her up later when they finally arrived at their hotel.

The hotel’s fortified security allowed Iris and her entourage a relatively peaceful return. There were no fans, reporters or paparazzi waiting to ambush her.

Before their departure, Jin Liwei had made sure that the hotel they would stay in wouldn’t allow others to encroach on his wife’s privacy. Linda Chua recommended the hotel. They treated Iris Long and her entourage as super VIP guests and agreed to fortify their security measures in time for her arrival.

Iris, Jin Liwei and her entourage freshened up first in their rooms before heading down to the hotel restaurant. By this time, Lin Yehan joined them.

"How was your day today, Eldest Brother?" Iris asked while enjoying dinner.

"It went well," Lin Yehan said. "Domingo introduced me to his distant cousin. Our discussions went well. Tomorrow, they’ll bring me to introduce some agricultural trading companies that meet my demands."

Jin Liwei asked for more information. Lin Yehan shared what happened to him earlier today.

"Your father was a great help to me," Lin Yehan said to Dom. "He’s accompanying me again tomorrow. I wanted to invite him for dinner tonight but he declined, saying that he wants to eat with his family. I didn’t know what time you all were returning, so I refrained from inviting the Chuas to join us for dinner."

"It’s okay, Eldest Brother," Iris said. "We’ll have another get-together with the Chuas before we leave the Philippines."

"That’s good, then." Lin Yehan smiled. "I want to do something to thank Domingo. I’m a businessman myself so I immediately knew how cunning that cousin from the main Chua family is just from looking at his eyes. Without Domingo’s intervention, the discussion today might not be as smooth as I wanted. I could sense that the cousin wanted to take advantage of me as much as possible."

His wife, Jiang Ying Yue, patted his arm. She didn’t interfere in his business because it wasn’t her forte. All she could offer was her presence.

He turned to her and gave her a loving, gentle smile. "I called Fifth Brother earlier today. Seems like our son is having a blast at his Uncle Haohao’s place."

Jiang Ying Yue’s expression softened. "Yes, I also called Jinjing. Little Jun loves watching his master train with Sir Zihao’s other subordinates. He idolizes his Uncle Haohao very much."

Hearing the couple talk about their son’s fun experience at her big brother’s place, Iris couldn’t help but sigh. She was happy that Little Jun was having fun but upon remembering her own twins bawling their eyes out, her heart couldn’t help but clench. In addition, it seemed that Ice Cream had become quite depressed after undergoing two days of strict diet and intense boot camp.

Once again, she almost packed her bags and flew straight home to be with her babies. However, she knew that this kind of impulsivity would only complicate her life. She could only steel her heart and continue fulfilling her work obligations in the Philippines.

"You okay, love?" Jin Liwei’s arm rested on her shoulders and pulled her closer to him.

"Just missing our kids," she said in a soft voice.

"I miss them, too," he said. "But remember that they’re in good hands."

"I know."

He kissed her forehead before calling a waiter to order a chamomile tea to calm his wife’s worries.

After dinner, everyone returned to their rooms.

Iris took a long, satisfying bath in the tub.

Jin Liwei only thought for a moment before deciding not to join her. He could see the fatigue in his wife’s eyes. Although he wanted to be with her every second, she also deserved some alone time to unwind.

While waiting for his wife to finish, Jin Liwei went to the suite’s living area where Dom was busy speaking on the phone with his sister, Linda, about Iris’ schedule tomorrow. Jin Liwei sat on another sofa and checked his e-mails on his phone.

After Dom’s phone call ended, Jin Liwei asked, "Everything set for tomorrow?"

"Yes, Sir Boss!" Dom gave him a thumbs up. Things will be a bit more hectic for Boss, but my sister already confirmed everything. There shouldn’t be any issues. The only variables are the traffic and the weather, so we should keep these in mind at all times, especially since all the guestings Boss will attend tomorrow are live broadcasts."

"En." Jin Liwei nodded. "Thanks for the hard work. Go to sleep now."

"Good night, Sir Boss!"

With that, Dom took his phone and headed straight to his own room.

Jin Liwei glanced at the clock and estimated that his wife should have already finished bathing. When he entered their room, his wife was indeed done. She was now drying her hair while wearing a sheet mask on her face (an Orchidia Beauty bestseller).

He took over in drying her hair while she finished up her skincare routine. Noticing that her eyes were starting to close, he finished it up and carried her to their bed.

"Good night, love," he whispered while giving her luscious lips a light kiss.

In no time, her breathing became steady and rhythmic.

Jin Liwei combed her soft and fragrant hair before carefully leaving her on the bed to take a shower as well.

###

The next day was another hectic day. This time, the weather was far from ideal. The heavy rain fell as if there was no tomorrow. Fortunately, there wasn’t any thunderstorm, just lots and lots of rain.

Once again, the glam team helped Iris prepare. Her makeup today was a bit heavier, her hair more elaborate, and her outfit more extravagant than they were yesterday. The preparations took longer but with Dom directing everyone and everything down to the last second, Iris didn’t need to worry about running late.

The first stop for today was a popular early morning news, talk and variety combo program called "It’s Morning, Philippines". The show had already been running for over twenty-five years.

One of its most important aspects was that it was always a live broadcast. Any mistake from the hosts or guests was shown on live TV with no mercy. It could make or break someone who didn’t know how to handle unexpected situations.

For the most part, however, mistakes were kept to a minimum as the show’s veteran hosts would always help ease the atmosphere and make the guests feel as comfortable as possible.

Today was the first time that Linda wouldn’t accompany them.

Dom took over guiding Iris into the morning program’s studio even though he had never been there before. He could only follow his sister’s detailed instructions.
