Chapter 900: Chapter 248 Temporary Passage
Su Shijun, after casting "Min Tianjiwei," leveraged the might of the school’s Guardian Array, and in an instant, she appeared at the edge of Hunting Area D Alpha.
The edge of the Silent Forest had completely shed its usual quietude, becoming noisy and bustling. Wizards clad in robes of red, white, gray, black, and other colors bustled about, ceaselessly outlining intricate runes in the woods, on clearings, and even in the air, constructing complex Alchemy Instruments.
Destruction is always much easier than repair.
The Black Wizards tore a piece of space away, creating a small sandbox, which perhaps required only a few spatial pinpoint detonation spells and a few Rune Arrays that could hold for a while.
But the wizards from the school who wished to stabilize this space and ’rescue’ it without destroying the original structure faced a much more difficult task.
In fact, while Su Shijun was off pursuing those four unwelcome guests, multiple departments including The First University’s School Works Committee, the Winter Hunting Committee, and the Institute of Applied Magic, had already mobilized to the scene in accordance with the emergency response mechanism to participate in cracking the ’sandbox world’s’ shell.
If they could not accurately locate that ’stripped’ world and open the entrance to the ’sandbox,’ any reinforcements would be unable to reach those young wizards trapped inside.
"Is the entrance open yet?"
Su Shijun stood in mid-air, her Red Cloak fluttering behind her; and faintly visible were three fox tail apparitions wavering behind her. This instilled a sense of awe in the many gazes that looked up at her from below.
Of course, whether the looks were of awe or admiration was always hard to distinguish, but the gazes of the many male wizards in the woods — no matter their age — were ultimately more respectful when they looked at Su Daxu.
"The Formation’s decryption is at thirty percent, we need another fifteen to twenty minutes to reach the minimum required fifty percent," an Elder Wizard clad in a gray robe slowly rose from the ground, floated not far below the witch, and responded gravely.
Clearly, his answer represented the viewpoint of The First University’s School Works Committee.
To the left and right of the Elder Wizard were two young wizards, one in a red robe and one in a black robe. One was from Jiuyou Academy, a staffer of the Winter Hunting Committee; the other was from the Institute of Applied Magic, a main force in cracking the sandbox world.
"You have one minute," Su Shijun glanced at the three wizards before turning her head and looking straight down at that small illusory segment of Silent Forest shimmering with spatial fluctuations, her tone very firm.
The three principals naturally understood the implicit meaning in the witch’s words; they were not about to list a bunch of impossibilities and try to shirk responsibility like many characters in soap operas would do. The only thing they could do was come up with a solution to the problem.
And the person in charge from the Institute of Applied Magic obviously had a plan in mind.
"If the school can accept damage to this space, then within ten seconds, we can open a tunnel that can last about five minutes for a single wizard to enter or exit," the black-robed wizard spoke rapidly, laying out the feasibility of this option clearly and plainly: "After five minutes, spatial folds will reflect due to stress, and the space within a one-kilometer radius -- including Area D Alpha -- will be hard to repair for the next ten years."
"Let’s do it that way," Su Shijun replied, always succinct and clear.
This time, the three principals standing below her hesitated slightly. It was one thing to offer a solution to a leader, but to actually implement a highly damaging solution was quite another. After all, the leaders are not the ones who handle the matters, but when trouble arises, it is definitely the staff who get blamed.
Su Shijun saw this clearly.
"The conversation between us has already wasted thirty seconds. Excluding the ten seconds to open the temporary passage, you have twenty seconds to respond," she stated.
"I can tell you unequivocally, the wizards in the sandbox are the most important treasure of First University. Even if it means destroying the entire Silent Forest, it is a sacrifice we are willing to make."
"I am the person in charge on site, and I have the authority to make that decision."
Despite this, Su Daxu’s affiliation with First University was ultimately a little awkward. Moreover, decisions involving ’magic contamination’ often required the approval—through a multitude of departments, including the Mage Alliance, and dozens of complex procedures.
The three department heads exchanged glances, hesitating slightly. Granted, for some unknown reasons, many senior wizards, including the vice chancellor of First University and various deans, were not present right now, but without a doubt, Su Shijun had been recognized by the Guardian Array of the school—this meant her identity as the person in charge was no sham.
Furthermore, as an Upper House Member of the Moon Council, and due to Su Shijun’s association with First University—especially since she was currently in charge of a high-level laboratory there—she was not regarded as an outsider by these wizards.
What was more important, she was beautiful.
The commands of a beautiful woman were always persuasive.
"If you could sign your name on the title page of my Law Book, I could convince my colleagues," joked a researcher from the Institute of Applied Magic, handing the witch a Blank Law Book—a very small, critical, and clever stance.
Several wizards present, including Su Shijun and the elder wizard from the School Works Committee, all smiled.
"Thank you."
Su Shijun took the Blank Law Book and turned to the title page, leaving behind a string of beautiful script—To a righteous and brave wizard.
Having written this, she tilted her head slightly and glanced at the wizard from the Institute of Applied Magic.
"Joseph Coughlin, madam." The researcher bowed politely.
Su Shijun nodded and added his name to the title page. Meanwhile, the wizards working below had already opened the temporary passage.
"If possible, I hope you can minimize the duration of the battle inside the sandbox," Joseph said sincerely to the witch after receiving the Law Book, "the shorter the time, the less the damage to the space."
The witch didn’t speak, instead, she transformed into a streak of light and disappeared in an instant at the entrance of the temporary passage.
The three wizards stood in place, taking a while to come back to their senses.
"She truly is a Big Wizard indeed; she knows how to pass through the entrance without needing our guidance," Joseph exclaimed admiringly, patting the Law Book in his hand.
"Even if you flatter her, Su Councilor can’t hear you now," the elder wizard from the School Works Committee reminded him, "You might want to think about how to securely hide that Law Book of yours rather than blabbering here... I noticed that a crowd of young men with envious eyes has already gathered at your feet."
"And there’s one right beside us." The person in charge from the Winter Hunting Committee made no attempt to hide their thoughts.
