Chapter 753: Chapter 101 The Wizard who Walked out of the White Tower_1
The terrifying magic fluctuation came suddenly, yet it did not cause a stir in the campus.
For some unknown reason, this fluctuation only occurred within the range of Lin Zhong Lake. More than ten meters away from the lakeside, a chubby squirrel was digging for hazelnuts in the snow. Meanwhile, the two young wizards on the shore, including a coiled snake, were both crushed to the ground by the heavy pressure.
Elena looked pale with her eyes tightly shut, seemingly completely unconscious. Comparatively, that snake would occasionally twitch the tip of its tail, whether it was a nervous spasm or a sign of remaining consciousness was unclear.
Zheng Qing didn’t know why he was still conscious.
But he knew that his state of awareness would not last for long.
He tilted his head, with his cheek against the cold mud, struggling to breathe. His vision was blurred, whether due to mist or some other factor, making it difficult to see anything clearly.
He could see from the corner of his eye that the squirrel was digging with its bottom sticking up in the air. It would pause to look around, then dig again, with its fluffy tail merrily trembling in mid-air.
"Even a squirrel is handling this better than me."
The young scholarship student lamented in his heart, while striving to mobilize the energy in each of his cells. He was struggling, feeling his magic power, consciousness, and strength slowly drained under the external pressure.
He felt utterly powerless, it was his only sensation.
Immediately following the surge of immense magic fluctuation was a sensation reminiscent of a gentle spring breeze. Tension and relaxation, two highly contrasting feelings interwove, leaving Zheng Qing’s mind blank. He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but in his daze, he seemed to perceive the scent of flowers and chirping of birds, and a vibrant, spring-like aura from that breeze.
Even the bone-chilling wintery coldness gradually dissipated under this aura, almost vanishing entirely.
"Pop!"
A beam of light shot from the white tower, like firework, exploded across the sky. Sparks of different colors scattered in all directions. Some fell on the Ze Meng boat, some fell on Lake Heart Island, and yet others, trailing sparks, fell straight down towards where the two young wizards were located.
At the same time, a deep humming sound echoed over the lake.
As the ’firework’ burst, the heavy pressure cloaking the sky over Lin Zhong Lake began to slowly dissipate. Among the deep humming sound, a semi-transparent halo arose from the white tower, quickly enveloping the lakeside area, including the two young wizards.
"Thump!"
A beam of light that exploded from the firework fell onto the ground, making a dull noise.
When the light faded, a figure in a dark robe stood in front of Zheng Qing. The young scholarship student groggily realized that his safety was guaranteed and then, just like Elena, he blacked out.
"Did you faint again?"
"No way!"
In his dimness, Zheng Qing seemed to hear a somewhat familiar voice muttering something, but he was too exhausted. The terrifying magic fluctuation, albeit brief, had been a tremendous burden on the young wizard’s spirit. All he wanted now was to close his eyes and get a good rest.
But his wish was destined not to be fulfilled.
"Umm, wake up! It’s not time to sleep! What were you two doing here?"
The familiar voice echoed in Zheng Qing’s ear. Meanwhile, a dazzling light penetrated his eyelids, shining onto his pupils. The originally dazed young wizard gasped for breath and slowly regained consciousness.
In the dimmer daylight, he vaguely saw several towering figures standing around him.
"Who’s there... how long have I been out," Zheng Qing didn’t immediately answer the question posed by the figure, instead shake his head and asked with a hoarse voice: "What just happened?"
"It’s none of your business," an unfamiliar voice cut off the young wizard’s question, seeming a bit impatient: "I just want to know, how much did you see?"
How much did you see?
Zheng Qing slowly pondered this strange question, unsure where to begin. To be accurate, he didn’t really see anything: the Ze Meng boat going haywire and crashing into the forbidden area on Lake Heart Island, then the small seven-story tower on the island glowing and shooting out a firework.
Oh, right, the person in front of him seemed to have popped out from the firework!
Zheng Qing squinted his eyes, trying to see more clearly. Before he blacked out, he vaguely remembered that a figure in a dark cloak had appeared in front of him, which came from the firework. The voice of that figure was very familiar—probably one of the men standing in front of him.
As for the others, they must have appeared after he passed out.
The brief blindness caused by the intense stimuli rapidly faded under the influence of magic.
Zheng Qing eventually saw the witches standing in front of him clearly, and then he realized that his memory was accurate.
Because in the crowd stood a great wizard whom he was very familiar with—Professor Yao.
At this moment, Professor Yao was standing sideways to him, holding a large blueprint and making gestures on it, occasionally raising his head to look around Lin Zhong Lake. A few unfamiliar old wizards in black robes were gathered around Professor Yao, discussing something quietly but fervently.
"Professor?" Zheng Qing muttered and blinked his eyes, wanting to know if this was an illusion.
"Snap, snap!!" A young wizard with high cheekbones and a middle part in his hair squatted before Zheng Qing. He snapped his fingers twice impatiently, emphasizing, "Focus, focus!"
Only then did Zheng Qing snap back to reality: "What?"
Maybe the noise from young wizard’s fingers disrupted the atmosphere, or perhaps he noticed that Zheng Qing had woken up. Seeing this, Professor Yao looked over, then nodded, saying something quietly to an old wizard next to him. Leaving the blueprint, he walked straight towards the young scholarship student.
"Professor!" The young wizard with high cheekbones immediately got to his feet.
"Yes, go help them sort out the disturbed magic fluctuation, and alleviate the aftermath of that explosion," Professor Yao drew a pipe from his pocket, pointing at the scholarship student lying on the ground, "Leave these two children to me."
"Alright, Professor," the young wizard answered respectfully and left.
At the same time, Elena’s soft gasp reached Zheng Qing’s ears, "What time is it now... What just happened?!"
The young scholarship student, straining to sit up, followed the shocked gaze of the gypsy witch.
Only then did he realise for the first time that the lakeside, which should have been a wintry scene, was currently filled with vibrant green vegetation, truly a picture of spring.
