Chapter 587: Chapter 256: Goodbye, Mr._1
Let’s rewind a few hours.
At that time, Zheng Qing felt like his head was about to explode.
He could not comprehend his current state.
On one hand, he was aware that he was in deep sleep - more precisely, his body was deep in sleep. On the other hand, contrary to this, his mind was in a highly active state.
Ever since last night, when Xiao Xiao had tricked him into drinking a Sleep Potion, his body fell into irreversible sleep under the influence of this magical potion. However, his consciousness miraculously detached from his body, maintaining its alert state as if he had a third eye observing his surroundings.
In this state, he clearly saw how Zhang Ji Xin and others were trying to wake him up by slapping him, pouring cold water on him, and even feeding him various bizarre potions - until the arrival of the school therapist and upon his advice, they became considerably restrained.
"He’s just overworked and needs to rest properly - If you are proficient in soul-related magic, you would be able to sense his active aura - No potion can restore mental fatigue better than a good dream."
Before leaving the dormitory, the school therapist cautioned: "Twenty-four hours. If he doesn’t wake up after twenty-four hours, you must take him to the school hospital... Don’t feed him any more of those strange Clear-headed Potions."
"Especially Fox Charming Powder! It’s used for treating epilepsy! Although it has an invigorating effect, misuse can likely cause him to exhibit neural tremors... or even hysteria."
"We’ll absolutely not do it, sir!" Xin Fat Man was firm in his stance. If needed, he would undoubtedly swear to it.
"If he doesn’t wake up, then stop wasting time." Zhang Ji Xin slouched in a chair, sighing, "Let’s just stop here for now..."
You may have stopped for now, but as far as I’m concerned, this matter isn’t over yet! The young scholar’s spirit, hearing his friend’s discussion, thought indignantly, while exerting force to dive into his body.
His intuition indicated that as long as he could return, his body would wake up.
But, it was as if his body was filled with invisible repulsion power, resisting any intrusion of his consciousness. Even just pushing a finger inside took a tremendous amount of effort.
The prospect of getting back into his body seemed to be a far-off dream.
"Whoa, you really startled me!" A sudden voice echoed in his ears: "I’ve been curious since yesterday, how exactly did your soul leave your body."
Zheng Qing’s spirit was startled by this abrupt voice.
He shifted his focus from his body only to ’see’ a familiar figure standing behind him.
Stout and short, wearing a blue robe and black horse jacket and spectacles with black frames.
It was Mr. Wu.
"Sir?" Zheng Qing exclaimed, eyes wide: "Why are you here! Am I dreaming? No, no, I feel very clear, I’m awake... Even so, how can I see you?! This is University of Magic..."
Poor young scholar was soon dizzy by his own deductions, his initially pure spirit began to appear chaotic.
"Of course I am real!" Mr. Wu laughed heartily, patting Zheng Qing’s head: "Can there be a fake me? I sensed some strange movement in your soul last night, at first, I thought your attempted transformation into a cat had backfired... I didn’t expect the strange state to persist until this noon, so I took the time to come and take a look."
Zheng Qing’s spirit, which had initially begun to feel hazy, felt a lot clearer under the soothing touch of Mr. Wu.
There were countless questions in his mind that he wanted to ask Mr.Wu.
Such as, does Mr. Wu know about the First Magic University? Does he know where it is? Does he know the way to the First Magic University? Did he casually come to school, did he get an invitation? If he knows about it, why has he never mentioned this school to me?
Next, how did Mr. Wu know that my soul has left the body? Did he put a talisman on me? How did he know about my unsuccessful transformation into a cat? Why didn’t he teach me to transform into a cat when I had a headache? Is the Yellow Flowered Cat in the bookstore also a transformation of a wizard? A male wizard or a female wizard? I have held it in my arms before, why don’t I remember lifting its tail to look...
For a while, his heart was flooded with thoughts, all sorts of strange ideas couldn’t stop popping up, affecting the originally concentrated spirit, causing it to somewhat scatter.
"Keep calm and stay focused!" Mr.Wu slapped him on his head, cautioned: "Your spirit is still very fragile, do not let your mind wander! Beware of magic obstruction... If you have any questions, come to my bookstore during the holidays!"
Zheng Qing shivered, his mind instantly cleared of distractions and his spirit immediately became steady.
"I worried that your chronic headache might damage your soul, so I casually left a talisman. I didn’t expect that after such a long time it’d still come in handy." Mr. Wu seemed to be talking to himself, but also explaining: "Otherwise, in a situation of soul body separation like yours, only a great wizard could tell."
"What has happened to me?" This was Zheng Qing’s first question after he had completely calmed down.
"Obviously, you were pushed out by your own soul," Mr. Wu lowered his head, hands behind his back, leaned towards Zheng Qing, carefully observing his physical condition, occasionally nodding, and exclaiming in admiration.
"Pushed out by my own soul?" Zheng Qing found this statement bewildering.
He couldn’t help but look down wanting to see the appearance of this ’external soul’ of his.
Empty. There was nothing.
Could my soul still be in my body? Then what am I now? A memory? A fragment of a dream? Or... a shadow?
"Yes, pushed out," explained Mr. Wu: "It’s like a bucket of water, if you keep pouring water after it’s full, it will overflow... Your body can only bear a limited intensity of the soul, so the excess soul got squeezed out..."
"But why was ’I’ pushed out?" Zheng Qing couldn’t help but shout: "Shouldn’t I be the master of this body? Shouldn’t the excess souls be the ones to be pushed out!"
"Which soul is surplus?" Mr.Wu questioned in response.
Zheng Qing was speechless.
"No soul is surplus." The teacher lowered his head, examining Zheng Qing’s physical condition while concluding: "The reason why your ’consciousness’ has been pushed out is because your body judged this as the most beneficial choice. After all, if the ’other’ soul fragments were thrown out of the body, they’d most likely disperse in the wind - to put it simply, get lost, perish - but your consciousness would ’consciously’ maintain its existence, not affecting the overall stability of the soul."
"Like the young therapist just said, with sufficient rest, your body can adapt to the new soul strength. By then, you can ’move’ back in."
