Chapter 585: Chapter 254 Pre-race Inspection_1
Just like the regular hunting competition, the new student match was also scheduled to be held in Hunting Ground No. 1.
However, today, Xiao Xiao couldn’t sneak in using Mister Sima’s teacher pass to take the shortcut to the venue. He needs to go with the rest of the Absolution Hunting Team and follow the staff of the Hunting Committee to a small chapel near the Hunting Ground for pre-competition inspection.
This was a process that every hunting team had to go through.
"If anyone has mixed spells copied by others in their Law Book, or if you’ve ’accidentally’ stuffed banned magical tools or alchemy trinkets into your backpacks, then before I stick a detector into your ears, obediently throw them into the trash can behind the door!"
"Also, amulets, scrolls, talismans, alchemy products, black magic tools that exceed the power specified by the competition rules, all need to be handed over to the front desk and will be held by the Hunting Committee."
A grim-faced third-year veteran stood on the chapel’s podium, whipping a slender metal stick in his hand to create a humming effect in the air. His assistants, all tall and strapping, folded their arms and smirked at the young wizards in front of them.
They were the staff members of this Hunting Committee, coming from the four different colleges. However, because they were all wearing the uniform of the Hunting Committee, the students below couldn’t discern which college they specifically belonged to.
Seeing that no one uttered a word, the veteran put away his metal stick and continued grimly: "Those who are confident about their belongings can proceed in order to the small rooms on the side to leave a drop of blood and a few ounces of urine ... within the last 24 hours, anyone who has taken a Mental Soothing Potion, a Bloodline Stimulation Potion, a Luck Elixir, or other potions prohibited by the Hunting Competition Management Regulations, before your bodily fluids are still within your bodies, get out of this room promptly."
"Beasts are also not allowed to take medicine!"
"Compared to being punished by the school for cheating later, leaving now would at most attract a bit of grumbling. I believe you are all wise and can make the right choice..."
"Um..." Xin Fat Man cautiously raised his hand, a flattering smile hung on his plump face.
The veteran seemed very annoyed at being interrupted and languidly glanced at the young wizard being propped up to one side, humming: "Everyone only gets one chance to ask questions."
"Does the Sleep Potion count as a Mental Soothing Potion?" Xin Fat Man asked immediately.
"It does." The veteran paused for a moment, saw a few young wizards’ frustrated expressions, and then slowly added: "However, the Sleep Potion is not listed among the banned substances in the Hunting Competition Management Regulations ... after all, no fool would plan to have a deep sleep within the Hunting Ground, right?"
A low chuckle erupted throughout the small chapel.
All competing hunters’ gazes converged upon the Absolution Hunting Team - evidently, a member of this hunting team seemed to be in a state of heavy sleep, looking floppy, he should be the ’fool’ who took the Sleep Potion.
Tang Dun, Yilian, and others from the Astronomy Class 08-1, despite the concern on their faces, given that the staff of the Hunting Committee hadn’t officially announced free activity yet, no one dared to walk around the chapel. They could only glance worriedly.
"Although I know that the night before a hunting competition, everyone is very nervous and has trouble sleeping. But never has anyone drank so much Sleep Potion that it affected their performance the next day... not to mention still not being able to wake up when the competition is about to start." The veteran swung the metal stick in his hand, creating a few beautiful stick flowers, and the corners of his mouth curled up revealing a hint of mockery: "If you intend to forfeit the competition, please turn around and quietly leave the chapel... other hunters still need to undergo inspection, and do not wish to be disturbed by any noise."
The members of the Absolution Hunting Team gave a silent glance at the high-ranking official of the Hunting Committee, without any intention of leaving the scene.
Perhaps because the veteran’s speech was too harsh, many hunters from other teams also frowned, but they all stood quietly in place with no one speaking.
"Excuse me, I have a question too!" A voice rang out abruptly.
The veteran turned around to see a chubby male wizard wearing a silver-grey hunting jacket, grinning and waving to him. On each of his five fingers, a dazzling gemstone of a different color sparkled.
These gemstones seemed to darken the veteran’s face even further.
"Before you ask your question, I must remind you that any magic items which surpass the specified power of the competition rules are prohibited from entering the Hunting Ground." The veteran emphasized harshly before once again sweeping his gaze over the male wizard’s fingers: "Before you exit, the school will take care of them."
Andrew Taylor, the wizard who just raised his hand, had the perfect look of surprise on his face.
"These rings don’t have any magic on them," he raised both his hands to show off ten sparkling fingers, emphasizing with a cheery smile: "They’re purely luxury items... luxury items."
His answer made the veteran look even worse.
"Your question." He interrupted Andrew’s rambling explanation impatiently.
"Question?" Andrew blanked for a moment, then reacted.
He glanced around shyly and mumbled a sentence. The hunters nearby who heard him gave him strange looks.
"Louder!" The veteran swung his metal stick, smacking it sharply against the air: "Didn’t you eat lunch?!"
Andrew blanked for a moment, then took a deep breath, asking loudly, "I wanted to ask, how can I accurately measure three ounces when pissing?! With my body size, I can easily produce half a kilogram..."
His teammates from Serpent’s Tail Hunting Team all bowed their heads in shame, pretending not to know him.
The veteran on the podium also froze for a few seconds after hearing this weird question from the young Taylor heir. It wasn’t until the chapel started its laugh track and rumbling arguments that he slowly came back to his senses.
"Silence!!!"
The veteran’s face went red, veins popping on his forehead, angrily swinging his metal stick.
The stick whipped through the air, making a sharp roar that echoed in the chapel, irritating everyone’s eardrums. The just boiling atmosphere was instantly quelled as if drenched by a bucket of cold water.
"There, are, cups, in, the, room." The veteran gritted his teeth, speaking one word at a time.
"Oh, understood, thank you!" Andrew obediently bowed in thanks.
The veteran took a deep breath, sweeping his gaze over the room darkly: "Now, those whose names are called, come forward for the inspection... then proceed to the rooms next door to leave your fluids."
With that said, a tall member of the Hunting Committee stepped forward from behind and handed him a thin roll call book.
"First one, Andrew Taylor!"
