Chapter 566: Chapter 235 Familiar Figure_1
Well-dressed blue sprites flew back and forth over the heads of the young wizards, each carrying a large wide-mouth jar.
The jars were filled with deeply colorful fruit juices and liquors.
Compared to the ordinary green sprites seen in markets, these blue creatures were evidently stronger and smarter. They chirped joyfully, refilling the Burgundy cups that the young wizards had emptied, and occasionally dodged greedy firefly gazes with graceful arcs.
For these insects who crave high-energy juices, fruit juice was an unparalleled treat.
"Sorry, I don’t need any for now, thank you!" Zheng Qing squeezed through the crowd while trying awkwardly to avoid one passionately hospitable blue sprite.
Maybe it’s because he had once received the blessing of the sprites, or maybe it was just because a particular blue sprite possessed a stronger sense of responsibility and dedication.
She seemed to think that a young wizard not holding a drink in his hand at this banquet was a major mistake. Thus, holding a wide-mouth jar in one hand and the long stem of the Burgundy cup in the other, she tried to shove the cup into Zheng Qing’s hand.
Poseidon seemed very interested in the brightly colored juices in the jar. Sitting on Zheng Qing’s arm, the little fox raised its forepaws and stuck out its pink tongue, squeaking continuously. Of course, maybe it was more interested in the fireflies buzzing around the jar.
Ever since it bit several fireflies in a witch’s office, the little fox has taken these juicy bugs to be a new type of snack, so much so that Zhan Yuchen, the guard of Pet Garden, had repeatedly complained to this young cost student about the rapidly increasing complaints about the school’s "public lighting facilities" being affected by the little fox.
Thus, Zheng Qing tightened his hold on the little fox, fearing that this audaciously brave creature would cause some sort of havoc at today’s dance party.
On top of that, he didn’t intend to drink anything at the moment. But he found it hard to shoo away such a fervent sprite. Coincidently, the discussions of some veterans nearby sparked his interest, so while expressing his apologies to the sprite, he made his way into the crowd, hoping that the dense crowd would naturally stop the sprite.
The surging crowd did indeed deter the sprite’s enthusiasm.
But in his relief, Zheng Qing realized that he had involuntarily squeezed his way into the depth of the crowd. He glanced back hesitantly, only to see a sea of colorful robes with no gaps in sight.
So he simply continued to squeeze further into the crowd, carrying the little fox in his arms.
Meanwhile, the voices of some of the surrounding wizards discussing something drifted into Zheng Qing’s ears.
"...Long black hair, soft and shiny, but doesn’t look greasy... I really want to know how she takes care of it!" A high-pitched female voice could be heard near him, "And her skin looks so great—lustrous and smooth, just like porcelain... Even I want to touch it!"
There was a burst of laughter around him.
The male wizards were especially exuberant in their laughter.
"Her eyes are beautiful too!" Two male wizards next to Zheng Qing were murmuring, "Big eyes, slightly straying, yet endearingly naive..."
"It seems she usually wears glasses. Oh, I can totally imagine how elegant she would look in them!"
"She’s chosen the right outfit for today too!" Another voice added, "The puffy, purple fringed dress perfectly accentuates her tall figure, especially the wide belt accent...it’s the crowning touch!"
Unable to resist the curiosity, Zheng Qing turned his head slightly to look at the several male wizards.
These were a few wizards wearing black robes. The vividly embroidered three golden stripes on the cuff identified them as third-year veterans. However, he couldn’t tell which academy they were from.
"Just look, don’t get any other ideas," A short, stocky wizard sighed softly, whispering to his friends, "Just from her walking posture and her haughty demeanor, it’s clear that she must be from a significant family..."
"At a ball, a witch who outshines Miss O’Brien is ordinary? Come on!" Another wizard huffed, "You don’t need to point out the obvious!"
"That’s why I hate balls," Fell the stocky wizard’s voice, deflated, "Always seeing so many nearly perfect witches. It throws me off balance..."
"Yeah, who knows who is worthy of such an elegant and noble lady." His friend followed with a sigh.
"Not many, but there are four or five," Instantly, there was a voice listing out names like a man reciting his treasures: "Zhao Qiao and Uncle Zhang Zhi from Jiuyou Academy. Sir Friedman Black Karen from Alpha Academy, Boomer Wolfe from Starry Sky Academy, and Bofit from Atlas... These are just a few of the top bachelors in the senior grade."
Upon hearing the familiar names, Zheng Qing couldn’t help raising his eyebrows.
Who would have thought that Sir Friedman was still single, and Zhang Ji Xin’s brother. If he also had a muscle brain like Red Face, it’d be hard for him to find a girlfriend.
As for the names from Starry Sky Academy and Atlas, they were a bit unfamiliar to Zheng Qing. They might be the big shots of some clubs, he surmised.
As they talked, the cost student moved a few steps forward.
The temporary dance party in the crowd seemed to have ended, and the surrounding crowd dispersed slightly. Zheng Qing finally managed to squeeze past the crowd and see the witch who had been praised for a long time.
The figure in purple was lifting her skirt to bow slightly to the spectators around her.
There were too many fireflies overhead, squinting his eyes to filter out the glaring light; the young cost student looked quizzically at the figure which seemed somewhat familiar.
"Hey!" After turning around, the witch appeared to see something and waved excitedly in this direction.
Startled, Zheng Qing blinked hard, then gaped.
"She’s waving at me!" A wizard next to him exclaimed excitably: "Tell me this isn’t a dream!"
"It’s not a dream," his companion earnestly told him, "you’re just seeing things... of course, it’s not your fault. If you look around you, you’ll find that there are others who are experiencing the same illusion."
With a twitching corner of his mouth, Zheng Qing didn’t know what expression he should show.
Had he not known the witch at the centre of the dance floor, he might have had the same illusion as the wizards around.
