Chapter 554: Chapter 223: The Strange Public Opinion_1
Opinions on the widespread chaos during the final round of the School Hunting Competition were varied among the spectators at the time.
Students from Jiuyou Academy, for example, were adamant that everyone at Alpha Academy had been the ones who initiated the fray.
The commentary article submitted by Xin Fat Man to the school newspaper afterward in fact spoke for the majority of Jiuyou Academy students: "...Those arrogant, despicable white-gowned individuals wantonly used summoning spells to toss a group of nauseating fairies onto Jiuyou Academy’s stand. They let them bare themselves under everyone’s watch and urinate wherever they pleased, and even let them spit at the well-behaved red-robed wizards!"
"... Everyone in the wizarding world knows that the students of Jiuyou Academy are the most well-behaved! Who else other than these hypocrites would believe that Jiuyou Academy was the one who first made a move?"
Contrarily, Alpha Academy students turned up their noses at such accusations from Jiuyou.
"Those bookworms are falsely accusing us!" A Level 08 Alpha Academy freshman named O’Brien opened up during an interview with the campus reporter and showed the reporter his frightening scars on his arm: "... Those wicked little demons were definitely summoned by the people of Jiuyou Academy. We simply charged over to help them suppress these monsters! We didn’t expect those in the red robes to just throw a whole bunch of nasty curses at us... See, this scar on my arm was left when dealing with a fence fairy while being interfered with by a red robe. The fairy broke the bond and escaped..."
"... Of course, summoning fence fairies might also have been done by those in blue robes ... As everyone knows, those guys are quite moody and enjoy these wicked little creatures."
However, when the school newspaper reporters sought confirmation of the truth from the students of Starry Sky Academy, almost every student expressed disdain— to the proud Blue Gown students, using dirty fence fairies to intervene in young wizards’ grudges was simply everyone’s disgrace.
"No one in a blue gown would do such a thing," an anonymous junior staff member of the Starry Sky Academy Student Union told the school newspaper: "We’re not Alpha, we don’t torment people with a group of saliva-spitting fairies. If there’s any grudge, we prefer to solve it with our fists."
In addition, this Starry Sky Academy staffer also voiced his opinion on the big battle between Jiuyou Academy and Alpha: "In fact, as most of us see it, it wasn’t a war between Jiuyou and Alpha at all, not even a fight, it was at most a bunch of women throwing tantrums... who’s ever seen a battle where a spell takes a minute to release?"
Out of the four academies, only Atlas Academy maintained silence on the incident of this semester’s competition—Atlas’s stance as Alpha’s consistent ally was somewhat surprising.
...
...
As Zheng Qing was carefully reading the campus newspaper’s report on yesterday’s incident, Elder Zhang Da, who was originally writing a self-criticism on the table, suddenly turned around again.
"Did Xiao Xiao also write one?" The red-faced wizard chomped on the end of his feather pen, looking at Zheng Qing expectantly: "... this self-criticism, did he also write one?"
Before Zheng Qing could speak, the chubby guy next to him snapped.
"Undoubtedly." Xin Fat Man had a lollipop in his mouth, he glanced casually at Zhang Ji Xin, and mumbled aloud: "The idea of writing self-criticisms was his suggestion...who else do you think would come up with such an troublesome and thankless idea."
"I just see that he hasn’t come yet." Zhang Ji Xin turned around, looked down at his self-criticism just begun, and sighed, "It’s been almost half an hour, and I’ve only written three hundred words... I feel like I’ll never finish the seven or eight thousand words."
"That’s up to you." The chubby guy shrugged with difficulty, turned his head to look at Zheng Qing, "Speaking of the doctor, I’ve been curious where he went? He got back later than you last night, and today too. After morning chores, he disappeared... Is he really dating Mister Sima? This is big news."
"His pursuit of Mister Sima is not news, everyone already knows that, okay?" Zheng Qing didn’t lift his head and said disdainfully: "Ever since you joined the Editorial Department of the School Newspaper, your mind contains nothing but big news and gossip, do you have anything else in there?"
"I have food in my head as well." The chubby guy sucked on his lollipop with gusto, making a "tsk" sound, and refuted the Cost Student’s mockery with his actions.
Zheng Qing snorted and didn’t brother with the chubby guy any more.
He had just turned to the commentary section of the school newspaper, which included the views of many senior campus staffers, retired professors, and judges and jurors from the Danghag Circuit Court of First University on the hunting ground conflict the previous afternoon.
Against his expectations.
Most of the expert opinions were very moderate—in other words, there seemed to be an intention of easing the situation— they made arguments from the legal, campus management, young wizards’ tendency for self-display, and the effects of the school hunting competition’s fanatic atmosphere, asserting that yesterday’s conflict was "purely accidental".
Even the few commentators who used a somewhat more severe tone, such as Professor Montreya, who specializes in advanced rune and bloodline research, simply used words like "absurd" and "serious breach of discipline".
These statements are very different from the "comments" written by the students themselves.
And also completely different from the historical precedents of similar incidents.
"Actually, I think the doctor overreacted yesterday." It seemed like Xin Fat Man had noticed what Zheng Qing was reading and the frown on his face, he came over, lowered his voice and asked, "You guys got back late yesterday, I didn’t get to ask... did you find anything from your research in the Book Mountain Library?"
Zheng Qing shook his head in frustration.
He was a little late, ultimately not managing to borrow the "First University Yearbook" from the library.
Because of Professor Yao’s display of rage on-site, many students have started to worry about their academic career; even the few copies of the "Yearbook" were borrowed in the blink of an eye. Also, a large number of documents recording the history of First University were scoured clean by enthusiastic students, as if doing so would give them a little more reassurance.
In contrast, the "Entering First University," which everyone had a copy of, described the foreign-related uproar eleven years ago ambiguously and briefly. The information conveyed therein was even less than what Xiao Xiao had said.
"Let’s wait for Xiao Xiao to come and ask him," After reading the last comment by the old campus worker, Zheng Qing rubbed his sore eyes and said tiredly, "I always feel there is something strange about this matter."
"It doesn’t matter whether it’s strange or not, I just hope Old Yao shows leniency..." Xin Fat Man folded his hands in prayer, muttered, "Merlin Above, I will write a good review for him in the campus newspaper... a 3000-word good review!"
