Chapter 547: Chapter 216: Complex Scroll_1

Hunting Ground Small World.

Sparse tree grassland in the south.

Under the highest baobab tree.

The gleam of the blade recedes.

The figure of the Hunting Team Leader of the Clover Team is revealed.

His head is bowed, his hands crossed in front of his forehead. His clothes are tattered with crisscrossed cut wounds all over his body. The skin and flesh are turned outwards, but not a trace of blood can be seen on these exposed injuries. Instead, they appear eerily green, adding an unsettling aura to him.

In the grass not too far from him.

Queen of Hearts is kneeling on the grass, leaning on her blade. Her chest heaves, and her face is deathly pale, looking as if she could pass out at any moment.

"It hurts a lot..." The commander slowly lowers his hand, a smile hanging on his lips, revealing two curved, ghastly white fangs: "But since you’ve finished hacking... it should be my turn, right?"

As he spoke, the inverted flesh from his wounds was visibly contracting, growing and healing at a speed discernible to the naked eye. The process is exceptionally clear through the lens of a telescope, evoking gasps of astonishment from the crowd – Zheng Qing believed that even the powerful Bai Xian administered in the school infirmary wouldn’t create such remarkable effects.

Once the commander’s words had ended, the wounds dissipated, leaving only white traces on his dark green skin.

"Boom!"

The earth beneath the zombie’s feet exploded.

A gale swept across the grassland.

Joan had just raised her long blade when she was blasted into mid-air by a punch.

"Just now... you hacked me fifteen times?" The commander stood beneath her, looking up. A cruel smile emerged on his face: "Shouldn’t I reciprocate with fifteen punches?!"

As he spoke, he slightly bent his knees, propelled himself with a strong thrust, appearing instantaneously above the witch.

"Boom!"

The commander clasped his fists together and swung down at an angle from above. The witch, initially mid-air, was slammed into the nearby baobab tree like a cannonball.

"Ge Zhitianxi! Net!"

Luke’s roar echoed, hundreds of vines emerged from the void, crisscrossing to form a soft, large net, enshrouding the flying witch, and slowly laid her on the ground.

"Attack now!"

The voice of Ani Black coincided with Luke’s: "The Heavens Descend, Adorned with Majesty!"

Several dense nets fell from the sky, enveloping the team leader of the Clover Team in an instant. Nets one after another descended relentlessly. While holding the Law book, Ani Black desperately maintained a deathly pallor on his face.

"I, Ma Hui Tui!"

"I’m a Dark Yellow Horse!"

Both Peter Greenspan and Zhan Shichen tossed a series of spells—widely known as ’Soft Leg Curse’ and ’Presbyopia Curse’ into the net. The curses stored in their Law books were cast wantonly, as if they were facing a rampaging giant dragon.

Looking dazed by the barrage of curses, the commander remained silent, letting the net around him grow thicker.

Luke seized this opportunity to pull out a thread-like scroll from his pocket, tearing it open with a pained expression. This was a special magical tool— a fabulous blend of the effects of Law Books and Spells capable of storing a powerful complex spell. Correspondingly, this scroll was extremely expensive. Even a blank one would cost twelve jade coins.

In this iteration of the competition, the Queen of Hearts Q Hunting Team had prepared only one such scroll, which they had intended to use against a horde of Wild Demons with a strength exceeding 10. Unexpectedly, they ended up using it on another wizard.

"Frost in September!"

"October fallen woe!"

"On the first day, the scares unfold, on the second, the terror’s chilling!"

"Like that rain and snow, first gathered as sleet!"

"Like that fierce wind, it’s sweeping and swirling!"

The accentuated spell echoes throughout the sparsely treed grassland.

As the chant rings out, the sky darkens, and the temperature plummets. Frost blooms instantly on grass blades, tree branches, and moss.

A gentle breeze sweeping the leaves transitions into a gust.

The gust brushing past the treetops matures into violent wind.

It enwraps might, ripping away branches. The leaves, plump and juicy from the summer’s nourishment, seemingly yanked away, fall rustling to the ground.

The wind knocks against branches, trunks, making cracking sounds.

The last traces of warmth in the air are completely dispersed with these sounds.

Falling suddenly like goose feathers, the intense snow quickly layers up. Covered by the net and bound by the Soft Leg Curse, Commander is soon blanketed in thick snow, gradually morphing into a ’snow monument’.

A blue light flickers in Luke’s hand.

The scroll, used to unleash the spell, breaks into small fragments in the blue light, falling to the ground with the snowflakes.

The male wizard breathes a sigh of relief, finally finding the time to look back at his own team leader.

"I’m sorry," he looks at the female wizard, seated under a tree, and awkwardly smiles. "We wasted the team’s most expensive scroll..."

Queen of Hearts musters a hollow smile, "Next time, just have Insect Tail prepare two extra..."

The words barely escape her mouth when her face pale abruptly.

"Move away!" She struggles to rise, shouting at the few hunters not too far away.

The snow monument explodes with a bang.

Accompanied by a long howl, a dark shadow bursts from the ice, and with two dull thuds, two figures are struck back, falling into the snow, silent.

Ani Black, alerted by the witch’s message, teleports instantly, appearing under the baobab, dodging Commander’s heavy fist.

Conversely, the other two hunters aren’t as fortunate.

As a diviner, Zhan Shichen isn’t adept at ’movement’ related magic; Peter Greenspan is somewhat slow to react in battle.

Hence, the two become the only casualties when Commander breaks free from his constraints.

Standing on the snowy ground, Commander spreads his arms, experiencing the cold snowflakes and the chilling wind around him, his face a bit intoxicated.

"I don’t know if you guys are naive... or just plain stupid." Laughter from the Clover Hunting Team Leader carried by the tempest gust sneaks up on the three wizards standing under the tree nearby. "... you actually chose such a spell to counter me! Don’t you know, as undead, zombies relish this cold weather?"

"If you guys had prepared a chain of ’Barrel ambush’, that perhaps could have caused a bit of trouble for our dear leader." Another shrill laughter emanates from a few paces behind the Queen of Hearts’ Hunters.

Luke turns abruptly to see four figures inching closer through the snow, his face grave.

"You lot, in deep trouble." A wizard in yellow looks disdainfully at the wind whipped snow all around, extremely discontented, "The trees, dead; the grass, also dead."

"They’re only going to get worse." Another small wizard prances on the snow-covered grass, a malicious smile on his face, "The leader seems to be in a really bad mood..."
