Chapter 511: Chapter 180 Andrew’s Story and Advice _1
The Grand Hall was bustling with people, thronged with spectators at the art exhibition.
But just like any other event in this university, young wizards attired in their respective school robes always congregated among their own peers, forming small and isolated circles.
Rarely were different colored robes mixed.
So, in a corner of the Grand Hall, a scene where a fat wizard in a white robe was happily chatting with three wizards in red robes, looked odd no matter how one looked at it.
This unlikely combination naturally attracted many curious gazes.
Thankfully, wizards are creatures that respect each other’s privacy very much. Without an invitation, no one presumptuously approached to strike up a conversation with the young wizards.
Zheng Qing evidently felt the many odd looks cast his way.
This was contrary to his initial plan to keep a low profile.
"What exactly do you want?!" The young scholarship student, suppressing his irritability, somewhat angrily asked.
Andrew reined in his smile, not immediately speaking.
He turned to face a painting hanging not far from them on the wall. It depicted the ’line-up’ of the Sam Hunting Team. After a long period of silence, he finally began speaking:
"Before entering university, I was a great fan of the Sam Hunting Team. I watched every single one of their hunts, I..."
"...You may know, I come from Quebec. There aren’t many wizards there, so naturally there aren’t any outstanding hunting teams. Across the whole East Coast, probably only the Sam Hunting Team could put up a fight in the World Cup."
"So, from a young age, I became the most loyal fan of the Sam Hunting Team."
"I attended every single one of their hunts; I even collected figurines of every hunter on the team, including the substitutes..."
Zheng Qing frowned, feeling irritated, listening to the small, rotund boy in front of him blathering on and on.
But he could only bear with it and listen.
On the other hand, Doctor Xiao seemed to be very interested in the information Andrew was mentioning. He’d already flipped open his notebook and started taking notes.
"...At the World Cup in ’02, I was only twelve. None of the adults in the family were around, so I followed an old servant to Yingzhou to watch the competition."
"That year, the Venus Hunting Team hadn’t yet been formed; Flamenco De hadn’t become the principal hunter of the Firebird Team; the Crimson Hunting Team still hadn’t recovered from their collapse a decade ago, barely maintaining their dignity on the residual aura of having once been a two-headed team. "
"That was probably the year the Sam Hunting Team was at its peak."
As he spoke, Andrew looked up at the painting in front of him, his eyes flickering with hints of nostalgia, resentment, and regret.
"Principal Hunter Clark, Left Auxiliary Stark, Right Aide Stephen... oh, back then, Stephen’s alias on the hunting ground was also Doctor, just like you."
In saying this, Andrew glanced at Xiao Xiao, smiled, and continued:
"Also, there were Wandering Hunter Peter and Bloodhound Natasha... the hunters you see in this painting here."
"Aside from these, the Sam Hunting Team’s substitute lineup was also extremely strong at the time... including Bruce, Rogers, Wilson, T’Challa, et cetera. I dare say, many members of this hunting team would have had no difficulty joining the super hunting teams in the new era."
Andrew continued speaking at his own pace.
Unknowingly, Zheng Qing was gradually drawn into Andrew’s stories. His initial irritation slowly subsided.
But then, the tone in Alpha Wizard’s voice suddenly dipped:
"...But who would have expected that at the World Cup in ’02, the Sam Hunting Team would fail in the end."
"Because of their formidable record, the Sam Hunting Team didn’t participate in the round-robin matches and directly entered the finals, so they missed many opportunities to understand and communicate with their opponents."
"Therefore, they naturally had no idea about the tacit agreement that had formed among the other teams."
"During the final match, led by top tier teams like the Crimson Hunting Team, the King Hunting Team, the Triumph Hunting Team, the Vermilion Bird Hunting Team, and the Dark Forest Hunting Team, and aided by slightly inferior teams like the Golden Shell Team, the Golden Palm Team, and the Firebird Team, totaling seventeen teams in all, they first executed the ’strangling strategy’... forcing the Sam Hunting Team to retire prematurely."
"Isn’t that cheating?"Unable to hold back, Zheng Qing interrupted Andrew. "Isn’t it forbidden for teams to attack each other on the hunting ground? What about the hunting competition committee? Why didn’t they intervene?"
Andrew looked at the scholarship student seemingly perplexed, his gaze oddly amusing.
"Ahem," Xin Fat Man interrupted Zheng Qing’s indignation, tugging at his robe and whispering. "It was only ’forcing’ them to drop out... not attacking them. There are many tricks to achieve this effect... like smearing castor oil on all the small animals in a certain area. If a hunting team’s beasts can’t resist a bit of game, they would inevitably suffer from extreme diarrhea and lose their combat effectiveness... and so on."
"They could do that?!" Dumbfounded, Zheng Qing immediately expressed his viewpoint: "This is utterly dishonorable!"
"Indeed! Anyone who employs such despicable means has lost the honor of being a true hunter! Undeniably dishonorable!"Andrew immediately seized on Zheng Qing’s reaction, light-heartedly flattering him, "Surely fitting of a scholarship student, a true gentleman!"
He had remained silent up until now, but the moment Andrew opened his mouth, Zheng Qing’s wariness returned.
"What are you exactly trying to say?!" The scholarship holder traced his palm over the now-invisible scar, interrupting the young heir of the Taylor family. His eyes once again took on a wary look.
Andrew paused, then pouted.
"...I didn’t expect you to distrust me so much." His tone finally grumbled with dissatisfaction.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. It’s not every day one gets nightmares for weeks. I won’t be as ignorant as before." Zheng Qing plainly stated. "You don’t have to tell me a story... just say what you’re thinking."
"Straightforward!" The heir to the Taylor family slammed his fist into his palm, his expression becoming much more serious. "I came here to form an alliance with you."
"Huh?" Zheng Qing raised an eyebrow.
Xin Fat Man, who seemed to have anticipated this reaction, crossed his arms, stood to the side, silently smirking.
Xiao Xiao furrowed his brow, slowly closing his notebook.
"Could you please repeat what you just said, I didn’t quite catch it," Zheng Qing warmly smiled at the tubby little boy in front of him.
"My proposition is that our two hunting teams can cooperate in the hunting ground... prioritizing the expulsion of other hunting teams." Andrew immediately restated his plan in a clear and concise manner. "...As for who becomes the champion of the New Students Hunt, we can decide once all the other hunting teams have been eliminated."
