Chapter 504: Chapter 173: Invitation to the Picture Hunting Exhibition_1

The afternoon sunlight streamed in through the windows, filling the dorm with a lazy atmosphere.

The orange cat sprawled on the window sill, basking in the sunlight, sniffed the scent of oil diffusing from the paper bag. It flicked its whiskers, wagged its tail, and finally, with great effort, crawled over to where the wizards were having their midday meals.

The little green sprites, who had been napping on the fat cat, grumbled at the disruption and flew back to Hehe’s tent in pairs to continue their siesta.

The young scholarship student watched these carefree creatures and was suddenly seized by a desire to become a cat again.

"Maybe if I were a cat, I wouldn’t have these troubles," he murmured, quietly muttering to himself.

"What?" Xiao Xiao just ripped open a paper bag filled with steaming meat buns, his voice was slightly greasy from the food, "What were you saying about trouble?"

"No. Nothing. You heard wrong." Zheng Qing immediately waved his hand, denying that he had said anything.

Xiao Xiao Hu gave him a suspicious glance, but in the end, didn’t press the matter. Instead, he bowed his head to blow gently on his bowl of seaweed egg drop soup, trying to cool it down for a sip of the delicious broth.

"The tomato juice today is very fresh." Dylan held a cup of steaming, bright red liquid, took a sip and smacked his lips, "But it’s a tad bit sour... tooth-rotting."

"Probably because the blood used in the cafeteria has been out a bit too long and gone off... also, could you not drink that stuff in front of us?" Xiao Xiao looked at the bottle with distaste and complained, "And next time, don’t ask me to get your lunch... When I was queuing in Under the Moon restaurant, the vampires around me looked at me like I was a snack!"

"Red eyes, they have red eyes," Dylan corrected helpfully, "Their eyes glow red when vampires are hungry... ghosts and werewolves have green eyes."

Zheng Qing watched as his two roommates chatted and ate their lunches, then glanced at the paper bags in front of him still emitting a tempting aroma, but felt no hunger at all.

His gaze rested gloomily on the stack of challenge letters on his desk, and he wondered if he should ask for leave from the Talisman class in the afternoon.

He would not be missing much if he went.

Why not skip it?

Once this thought entered his mind, it spread uncontrollably.

Truth be told, as the head of a newly established society & Hunting Team, Zheng Qing felt that his time was always tight.

He had to find time to complete the Hunting Team training plan and submit it to the school’s Hunting Team Management Committee, spend time learning the tactical team arrangements from the senior hunters of the Judgment Hunting Team; also, he heard the school had a program to support new student hunting teams, so he had to squeeze out time to study the provisions in the document and see if he could get some funding for the Absolution team.

He also had to go the library at night to help Elena translate her book of ancient and abstruse Rune notes - even though the Gypsy witch often disappeared, the task of translating was always heavily on the young scholarship student.

Not to mention the endless homework. Even though it was the season of Moon Hunting, the professors showed no sign of relaxing their teaching plans, each assigning more and more homework.

Also, there were private lessons from Professor Yi on Tuesday nights from seven to nine, and the night patrol duty on Saturday nights.

Adding it all up, Zheng Qing increasingly felt that time was tight.

But if there was a reason for skipping this afternoon’s Talisman class, his squeezed schedule might become a little more relaxed.

He might even be able to get to bed early tonight.

"If I don’t go to class this afternoon... I can finish the Hunting Team’s training plan earlier in the afternoon, then get the materials to the office building before five o’clock," Zheng Qing calculated quietly to himself, "Maybe I can take this opportunity to see Professor Li in his office... I wonder if I could apply in advance for the next batch of transformation potion."

At this thought, the young scholarship student couldn’t help but glance at the calendar hanging on the wall.

It had been less than two weeks since his last transformation.

According to Old Yao’s previous arrangement, he could apply for one transformation potion each month - maybe one or two more in special circumstances.

But definitely no more than that.

After all, it was a kind of high-end magic potion, and the school providing it to him for free was already quite generous. Zheng Qing did not have the face to be greedy and drink it casually like sugar water.

"Why aren’t you eating?" Doctor Xiao’s surprised voice interrupted the scholarship student’s reverie.

"I’ve got no appetite," Zheng Qing grumbled.

"Oh, right... I have something for you." Xiao Xiao shook his head, as though he’d just remembered something. He pulled out something that looked like an invitation from his pocket and handed it to the young scholarship student.

Zheng Qing’s face changed, and he jumped back like a startled cat.

"Another challenge letter? Or an invitation to a duel? Who is it from? I tell you, I don’t have time to deal with these idlers!" He shouted angrily, his face once again taking on an annoyed expression.

The werewolf-vampire gentleman sipping his drink let out a gurgling laugh in his throat.

He sounded like a bottle of fizzy drink.

"Laugh my ass off, you guys are my roommates... if I get mugged on campus, you guys won’t have any face left either," grumbled Zheng Qing.

"Perhaps I can help you reserve a bed in the school infirmary in advance." Dylan licked the sharp teeth at the corners of his mouth, a malicious grin on his face, "You know, in our Starry Sky Academy, vampires always get preferential treatment in the school infirmary..."

"Yeah, more than half of the infirmary’s income is supported by your crazy bunch," retorted Zheng Qing.

"Duel invitation?" Doctor Xiao’s gaze swept over the pile of unopened envelopes on Zheng Qing’s desk, finally exhibiting some understanding, "These are all duel invitations? For you?"

"If you want them, they’re yours... all of them."

"Why?" Xiao Xiao raised an eyebrow.

He was asking why Zheng Qing received so many challenge letters.

"Because a lot of people are brainless." The scholarship student sluggishly pulled out a challenge letter and handed it to the doctor.

Xiao Xiao took the envelope and adjusted his glasses.

"Having heard of the young scholar’s reputation and winning the praise of Su Qingqiu Councillor, I cannot contain my admiration and humbly request a meeting. Please do not refuse. Starry Sky Academy, second year..." Before he finished reading, Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but look up, "A second year student issued you a challenge?"

Zheng Qing took a deep breath.

"Who has the audacity to put out such a poorly written and illogical piece?" The young scholarship student’s tone was filled with resentment.

"I had already suspected that the last thing the beautiful Miss Su said might cause you trouble... I didn’t realise it would happen this quickly." Doctor Xiao sighed, threw the letter back on the table, "Fortunately, this isn’t a duel invitation."

Xiao Xiao shook the envelope, offering it back to Zheng Qing, "This is an invitation."

"An invitation?"

"An invitation to the opening of Hunting Art Exhibition."
