Chapter 460: Chapter 129 Two Seniors_1
The first floor of the campus worker’s office building is the office area of the internal affairs committee.
The hunting team management office is also located within this area.
When Zheng Qing came to the office with the parrot on duty, he unexpectedly ran into a familiar face.
"Senior?" The young scholarship student said cheerfully, "You’re here too! Great, I was planning to discuss some things about hunting team training with you later..."
The familiar face was Deng Xiaoxian’s cousin, Deng Xiaojian from the Judgment hunting team.
Zheng Qing was slightly surprised when he saw him.
"Didn’t you go to the dance? Most of the freshmen I know tried to squeeze in." The tall and thin wizard from the Starry Sky Academy blinked, a knowing smile spreading across his face, "Is it because you don’t have a suitable dance partner? For this kind of thing..."
"Leave that to Deng Zi," another wizard in the office said jokingly, "he’s a star hunter from the Starry Sky Academy, and he has a horde of female wizards fawning over him every day, clamoring to have children with him."
The speaker was the wizard on duty in the hunting team management office, a wizard from Jiuyou Academy dressed in a red robe.
"Hello, Senior." Zheng Qing immediately greeted him with politeness.
"It’s as if you’re not from the Judgment hunting team!" Deng Zi reluctantly grinned, then said to the wizard on duty, "And besides, you know most of those girls are really there for Hoffman, we’re just accessories... Of course, if you really don’t have a suitable dance partner, I can help."
His last statement was aimed at Zheng Qing.
The young scholarship student appeared to be caught off guard by Deng Xiaojian’s enthusiasm, and his cheeks flushed as he stammered for a bit, unable to form a complete sentence.
"Better to keep those barbaric witches from your academy amongst yourselves, it would be irresponsible to the wizards from other academies," the wizard on duty earnestly glanced at Deng Xiaojian, then turned to Zheng Qing and said, ". Sorry I didn’t notice earlier, it’s actually a scholarship student from our Jiuyou... Nice to meet you. I’m Qi Qinglan, an auxiliary hunter from the Judgment hunting team. Everyone calls me Lan Zi."
With that, he grabbed Zheng Qing’s right hand and gave it a vigorous shake.
"Hello, senior." Zheng Qing nodded, greeted dryly, and for a moment didn’t know what else to say.
"You really should keep your barbaric witches," Qi Qinglan put his arm around Zheng Qing’s shoulder and said with a grin to Deng Xiaojian, "This junior brother of mine here is the youngest recipient of the Merlin Medal in nearly twenty years, and a scholarship student from our academy at that. There are at least eighty witches chasing him, so he shouldn’t have trouble finding a dance partner...."
"I know this better than you." Deng Xiaojian rolled his eyes and looked at the wizard on duty, "As for the term ’barbaric witches’, I think it’s definitely up for discussion... And if I mention your comments to Selena, how long do you think you would last?"
Zheng Qing didn’t know who Selena was.
But he suspected that she might be a famous and feisty witch from the Starry Sky Academy.
After hearing Deng Xiaojian’s threat, Qi Qinglan’s face blanched a bit.
"Haha, it’s all a joke, don’t take it seriously!" He gave a dry laugh, patted the young scholarship student’s shoulder with the hand that was wrapped around him, and then went on to gripe, "You should wear that medal all the time, so people can recognize you quickly... And the academy’s badge, it has many protective spells on it, it’s very beneficial to wear it regularly."
Zheng Qing rubbed his shoulder, which hurt from the pat, breathed in, and said quietly, "I do wear it. I keep it on under my robe... I think it’s a bit too... ostentatious to wear it out."
"Being ostentatious is good... strive to live boldly, don’t die unnoticed." Qi Qinglan made a sound of disapproval and tried to impart some wisdom to the young scholarship student.
However, Zheng Qing respectfully declined his philosophy of life.
"Let’s focus on the matter at hand." Deng Xiaojian finally cut off their idle chatter, looked at Zheng Qing, and asked definitively, "You’re here to find training grounds, right?"
Before Zheng Qing could nod, the wizard on duty next to him threw cold water on his idea.
"It’s too late, you’re too late." Qi Qinglan swiveled in his chair, reached into the drawer behind his desk, pulled out a stack of files, and slapped them on the table, "Starting today, all twelve hunting grounds of the First University have been contracted out until the end of Moon Hunting... I mean all the free slots outside of the campus committee’s maintenance times, none are left."
Zheng Qing looked at the striking red seals on those applications and felt a toothache.
"What about our training?" He scratched his head, looking somewhat distressed towards Deng Xiaojian.
"There’s no other way." Deng Xiaojian shrugged, "Unless you plan to rent those expensive private hunting grounds in Beta Town, you can only look for a hunting team you know and see if you can train together... Don’t look at me, I’m not the captain of Judgment, I can’t agree to it."
Zheng Qing immediately looked disheartened.
"Don’t be disheartened," Qi Qinglan comforted from the side, "It’s first come, first serve, which is the basic rule. Especially for large events like Moon Hunting, one needs to apply for hunting ground usage rights a few months in advance... You’ll have experience for next year."
"That’s if our hunting team still exists next year." Zheng Qing murmured, sighing deeply.
"Maybe he could talk to Hoffman." Qi Qinglan turned to look at Deng Xiaojian, speaking in a low voice, "After all, he’s a scholarship student from the Jiuyou Academy, he’s got some face to save... Besides, didn’t you promise him that we would help him with basic training? We could help these juniors out during our group training."
"That’s your business at Jiuyou Academy, I have no objections." Deng Xiaojian shrugged and looked at Zheng Qing, suggesting, "If possible, I would recommend you to find a professor to mediate... After all, it’s Moon Hunting season, every slot for hunting ground usage is extremely valuable."
"I can go to Old Yao," Zheng Qing suddenly felt a bit more energized, and raised his hand to add, "Old Yao is pretty easygoing, he should be willing to help..."
"Old Yao?" Qi Qinglan looked at Zheng Qing with a strange look in his eyes, "Which Old Yao?"
"Our counselor Old Yao?" Zheng Qing tilted his head, somewhat puzzled: "Does our academy have a second Old Yao?"
"I suppose you’re referring to your academy’s dean, Professor Yao XiaoMi?" Deng Xiaojian asked cautiously.
Zheng Qing nodded in affirmation.
"Haha," the wizard on duty wore a look of despair on his face, his eyes filled with resignation, "I’m not surprised at all... In this damned school, good grades really do let you do whatever you want..."
"I would say, you can do anything to a certain extent," Deng Xiaojian comforted, "At least he can’t make Old Yao perform a striptease in front of an audience... If you think you’re feeling oppressed at Jiuyou Academy, you could come to the Starry Sky Academy, I can help you unwind."
"Unwind and then spend a week at the campus hospital?" Qi Qinglan sighed deeply, resting his head on the office desk without uttering another word.
