Chapter 455: Chapter 124: The Fat Wizard’s Methods_1

"Ah, the weather is fine, the breeze is gentle. Look up to the vast universe and look down upon the battle in the wild. Freeing your line of sight and embracing whatever it contains, it provides such amusement..."

The Wandering Wizard in the portrait behind the door somehow procured a telescope, enthusiastically watching the battle in the ’Eye of Vortex’ outside the window while mumbling his thoughts out loud.

His remarks were as enigmatic as an antelope’s horns, baffling to all.

Yet, they effectively eased the tense atmosphere in the lounge.

Even Neville, who was deeply engrossed in calculating and adjusting the betting odds, unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.

Outside the window, on the Hunting Ground.

Erwin Hoffman is now engaged in a standoff with the Deer Specter. Contrary to the Hunting Commentator’s expectations, the Deer Specter, after encountering the Giant Wolf, neither showed signs of a ferocious last stand nor attempted to run. It was trodding leisurely, confronting the Giant Wolf in a standoff.

"I somehow feel that the Deer Specter is up to no good." The Wandering Wizard concluded: "But on the other hand, the little wild wolf named Hoffman is proving to be impressive... I regret not giving him a gold card for the Wandering Bar last year."

"Correct investment is never too late." Sepulano seemed to respect the Wandering Wizard a great deal, and consequently shown more patience towards the portrait: "If you think it’s worth it, you can give him that card at any time."

"But his lineage is ultimately impure," The Wandering Wizard seemed a bit worried: "I have never issued my gold card to a creature like him who lives under the moon."

"Although our factions differ, I must admit, that werewolf is formidable." Sepulano seemed to want to move away from the unpleasant conversation minutes ago, so he went along with the topic of the Wandering Wizard: "Though he is only a half-blood werewolf, his talent is no less than those pure-blooded ones... Even the pure-blooded prodigies from the families of Tabbot or Taylor, young wizards who can achieve the Giant Wolf transformation at this age can be counted on fingers."

In the lounge, many gazes involuntarily turned towards Andrew Taylor.

The young scion of the Taylor family smiled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head, not offering any rebuttal.

It’s evident that he was somewhat embarrassed.

"The calculation results are out."

After a while, John Neville finally finished calculating the new odds.

He handed the notebook back to the plump wizard on the sofa.

"Despite adjusting the odds... our loss could still be pegged around hundred jade coins." Neville explained rapidly, scratching his chin with his peacock feather quill: "Since the Hunting Competition has started, any adjustment of our old odds would cause a chain reaction in other bets. To prevent the situation from worsening, we must bear certain losses."

A hundred jade coins.

Kitano Kiri, still crouching in the corner of the room, sniffled.

It was nonetheless still a considerable amount.

"Will he make a profit?" Sepulano silently looked at the equations on the notebook for a long while, before finally asking: "According to your calculations, will Friedman make a profit?"

"Friedman?" Neville paused for a moment to recall the connection between the Alpha Academy’s vampire big shot and this shift in odds.

He paused for a moment, and after some thought, he admitted: "If we calculate using Sima Yi’s investment amount...according to our best configuration, when our loss is controlled at a hundred jade coins, Sima’s investment will see some profits... around sixty jade coins."

"It’s a win-win outcome." The honest businessman added.

"I don’t need a win-win. Nor the best configuration." Sepulano laid his hand on the notebook, turned his head, stared at Neville through his small, black eyes, and spoke menacingly: "I just need Friedman to lose so much that he offs his pants!"

"That would be incredibly difficult." Behind the door, the portrait of the Wandering Wizard seemed to have heard the plump wizard’s idea and remarked: "Considering the two ancient surnames that the vampire carries, it wouldn’t be possible to make him off his pants with just a small bet of a few hundred jade coins."

Sepulano didn’t say anything but continued to look at Neville.

"It’s indeed impossible." Neville dryly repeated the Wandering Wizard’s view, and then quickly explained: "Because we currently don’t have more choices... If we can tolerate larger losses, like around a hundred and eighty jade coins, Sima Yi’s investment will sustain certain losses... According to my calculations, his loss will be around ten jade coins... better than nothing."

Ten jade coins wouldn’t make much of a difference to Friedman.

Sepulano clenched his fists, obviously unsatisfied.

Neville hurriedly emphasized: "According to the current odds, Sima Yi’s situation will not get any worse... However, our losses will."

The plump wizard took a deep breath.

He struggled to stand up, walked to the large French window, crossed his arms, and stared at the rolling mist around the ’Eye of Vortex’ outside the window.

He remained silent.

The lounge was quiet. Everyone closed their mouths and even consciously tried to breathe softly. Even the chatterbox Wandering Wizard in the portrait behind the door shut up, and started watching the Hunting Competition with his wooden-coated monocular telescope.

After a long while.

He finally responded in a low voice: "Then let’s proceed with a loss of a hundred and eighty jade coins."

"Proceed with the maximum loss situation for Sima Yi?!" Neville repeated, and upon seeing the plump wizard nod, quickly noted down his words in the notebook.

"A loss of a hundred and eighty jade coins is still manageable for the organization," the plump wizard turned around, his small, black eyes looking exceptionally profound. "But our stance must be very clear."

"Understood." Neville replied.

"Out of these hundred and eighty jade coins, a hundred jade coins’ loss is due to the organization’s poor control, a systematic risk." Sepulano silently scanned the room, his gaze pausing on each person.

Everyone all bowed their heads.

"We all bear this burden... This hundred jade coins will be deducted from the expected profit of this project."

"Understood." Neville nodded.

"And the remaining eighty jade coins are Kitano Kiri’s penalty," the plump wizard lifted his chin, looking at the thin wizard in the corner, and continued. "This is your punishment for violating the organization’s discipline... Do you have any objections?"

The thin wizard struggled to stand, bowed deeply to the plump wizard and replied with a hoarse voice: "I deserve it."

His loss had already been reduced from three hundred jade coins to eighty jade coins, which was already a relief for him.

"Though Kita Family is large and has vast accomplishments, there are many heirs... I know you don’t have much of the family’s common shares," the plump wizard looked at him deeply and finally added: "So, I give you a year to raise the funds."

Kitano Kiri once again bowed deeply.
