Chapter 334: Chapter Three: The Paper-Licking Cat_1
A black shadow flashed by the window.
Zheng Qing looked up to find that the orange cat had somehow returned from outside the window.
It silently bypassed the books scattered on the desk, jumped, and landed on Xin Fat Man’s soft bed.
The fat man was sitting at the desk, carefully cleaning the feather pen that could automatically record.
"If all goes well, the report of this interview will be in the next issue of the campus newspaper." He stuffed the cleaned feather pen into a box, stretched with satisfaction.
"If all goes well..." Zheng Qing let out a big yawn, dejectedly said: "Things have never gone smoothly."
"Oh, Merlin Above...you’re eating paper!!" The fat man suddenly yelled in surprise, "Poor thing, we’ve never mistreated you."
Tuan Tuan lay on the pillow, his tail tightly wrapped around his body motionless, holding a red paper crane between his claws.
The paper crane’s wings fluttered hard, trying to break free from this terrifying beast.
Apparently hearing the fat man’s yell, the orange cat cocked his head and squinted, but did not let go of the little thing in its paw.
On the contrary, before the two freshmen could react, it stuck out its tongue again, giving it a few more licks.
"Is that a paper crane?" Zheng Qing raised his eyebrows, his tone somewhat strange: "Where did it catch that from?"
"If I were you, I’d snatch the paper crane back first before considering these questions." Dylan’s voice came faintly from inside the tent, sounding quite helpless, "Haven’t you noticed that the fat cat’s drool is about to drown the paper crane?"
Whether a paper crane can be drowned is a very thought-provoking question in the philosophy of magic.
But snatching food from a fat cat’s mouth is a very un-magical and challenging task.
Snatching by force is impossible, unless you plan to skip half an hour of afternoon class and listen to Bella’s chatter in the school infirmary.
However, even the lure failed, which aroused Zheng Qing’s great interest.
"It actually doesn’t want the chicken leg anymore!" Xin Fat Man looked at the fat cat in shock, then lowered his head to sniff the fragrant stewed chicken leg in the plate, even tearing off a small piece of chicken and tasting it.
"Is it full?" Zheng Qing offered his opinion.
"Absolutely not...foodies never get full!" The fat man’s lips moved, baffled: "Original stewed chicken, still hot... why doesn’t it want it?"
The young cost student rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the strange word ’foodies’.
"Why is it licking the paper crane?" Dylan was very interested in this question.
"Maybe the letter paper used to fold the paper crane has some smells that animals like?" Zheng Qing guessed.
Xin didn’t speak.
He lowered his head and put the plate on the desk.
The porcelain plate collided with the wooden tabletop, making a clear sound.
"It seems that I’m forced to use my unique skills." The fat man’s tone was somewhat heavy.
Zheng Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth, his face full of helplessness, "Use whatever tricks you have... wait any longer, and that paper crane will really turn into a ’drool crane.’
On the pillow.
The fat cat didn’t even bother to glance at the two young wizards, it was still lowering its head, concentrating on licking the paper.
"Mount Tai crushing the top!" the fat man suddenly shouted, jumped up, and pounced on his bed, pressing the fat cat under his body.
"Meow..." Tuan Tuan screamed.
"Meow!!" the fat man screamed in agony, "Hurry up! You owe me medical expenses!!"
Zheng Qing was startled and then rushed over in a scramble, pulling out the soaked paper crane from a pair of fluffy claws.
He didn’t even care about the sticky saliva the fat cat left on the paper crane.
Dust settled.
Xin Fat Man struggled to get up from the bed, revealing the ruffled fur of the fat cat underneath him.
"Meow!" Tuan Tuan jumped up, swinging his fluffy claws, and slapped the fat man twice.
"Hehe." The Fat Man didn’t get angry, but raised his hands, showing off to his two roommates, "See? Our Fat Cat knows how to restrain itself... it didn’t bite or scratch."
Zheng Qing looked at the two red and swollen marks on his chubby face, tugged at the corner of his mouth, then lowered his head to look at the paper crane in his hand.
The red paper crane bobbed its head listlessly, nipped at his palm, flapped its wings, and promptly unfold into a letter.
"Is this for you?" The Fat Man widened his eyes, "Another girl!"
"Is that all you think about?!" The cost student looked helpless as he picked up the letter.
But soon, he sounded surprised, "Oh, it’s a reply from the student council... I only sent them a paper crane this morning, I didn’t expect they’d be so efficient."
"What’s the reply?"
"I was asking about the new student council recruitment list... they didn’t include me, so I wondered why."
"That trivial matter required a paper crane?" Xin Fat Man leaned back on his bed, looking hurt, "The office building is just a few steps away after class... How dare you call me lazy after going through such lengths?"
"This is the style of a true wizard." Dylan sat in his coffin, pulled back his veil, and looked approvingly at the young cost student, "A real wizard never uses crude methods outside of magic to deal with trouble."
"Peculiar." The Fat Man muttered, pouting.
"So, I’ve been curious." Dylan continued, "Since both of you are wizards, why didn’t you use magic to tie up that Fat Cat? I remember you both learnt the Binding Spell..."
The figures of both the cost student and the Fat Man stiffened.
"I’m not used to using magic yet." Zheng Qing looked at the Fat Man and said quietly.
"I forgot." Xin Fat Man spread his hands honestly, "Knowing too many spells is also a problem."
The Fat Cat on the bed, who had just licked its fur smooth again, opened its mouth and made a snickering sound.
Zheng Qing looked annoyed, he bowed his head, smoothed out the letter, and quickly read the reply.
"Dear Student (Zheng Qing), after reconfirmation by the organization, your comprehensive evaluation is insufficient, regretfully we can’t work together."
"Thank you for your trust."
"First University Student Council, Foreign Affairs Department, Department Head."
"Your loyal Louise Cody."
Zheng Qing looked at these few short sentences back and forth, but finally, he didn’t find the answer he wanted.
"Conspiracy," He crumbled up the letter angrily, throwing it at the trash can, "Definitely a conspiracy!"
The Fat Cat’s eyes lit up, it pounced, and caught the paper ball.
"Maybe..." Xin Fat Man squinted at the Fat Cat playing happily with the crumpled paper, his face showed a thoughtful expression.
"From your expression, it seems as though you’d like to take the food out of a cat’s mouth..." Dylan’s airy voice echoed in the room.
"No!" The Fat Man’s face turned red, "I’m just curious, why does it lick paper?"
"You’re not a cat, why care so much."
Zheng Qing ignored the ensuing argument between the two.
The student council’s reply further dampened his already gloomy mood.
He still had a Philosophy of Magic class in the afternoon.
He decided to go to the classroom earlier today, hoping to reschedule with Jiang Yu.
"Oh, right, don’t expect me to help with dinner tonight." Before leaving, Zheng Qing turned his head to remind, "And don’t bring me dinner either... I don’t think I’ll be back before eight o’clock."
"Why, have you finally thought of how to give the gift?"
"No." Zheng Qing’s shoulders sagged even more, "It’s the assignment from last time by Old Yao... Jiang Yu and I agreed to test the Law book together."
"Whoa! Whoa!! Whoa!!!" Xin Fat Man let out a shocked shriek in the dormitory, like a castrated rooster, "When did you get so close to this queen! That was fast!"
"What do you mean by ’get so close’!" Zheng Qing’s face turned red, he stormed out, "Using the heart of a petty man to measure the belly of a gentleman..."
Behind him, two strange, long laughter echoed.
