Chapter 331: Chapter 255: Idle Chat Among the Crew of the Mist Ship_1

When Nikita emerged from the captain’s quarters, her face still carried a trace of lingering regret.

Although the Mist Captain had highly praised her snacks, she didn’t want to be a cook. She wanted to go ashore, to fight, to stand out among the young demons.

Just like she used to do when she was in the First University.

But the captain’s order could not be defied.

Now, she could only obediently return to the rear cabin, stay in the tiny and gloomy kitchen, and prepare dinner for the five remaining demons onboard.

Harry trailed behind her like a pathetic dog, content and almost wagging his tail joyfully.

"Excuse me!" The female demon turned around with frustration, glaring at the guy in front of her who was wearing a pink POLO shirt, and said irritably: "Don’t always follow behind me... Or I might accidentally stuff you into the stove as firewood."

"Well, well, do you have any news to share with us..." Harry rubbed his hands, his face full of an enthusiastic smile, and his tone full of flattery: "We all know, aboard the Mist Ship, besides the captain, you’re the most informed."

This flattery hit the spot, and made the female demon raise her chin with satisfaction.

"There’s no significant news," she slapped the dinner plate onto the male demon’s hand, pretending to speak casually: "Just a butterfly from the First University bringing some news."

"Butterfly?" The blond-haired Ryan bounced down from the mast, leapt onto the edge of the cabin, his arms crossed, dangling his fluffy legs, looking very curious: "What butterfly? Where did the butterfly come from?"

"From the First University, a 2.5-dimensional butterfly, ever heard of it!" Nikita emphasized disdainfully: "It is a form between two-dimensional and three-dimensional creatures...I suppose you wouldn’t understand."

It had to be admitted, the last comment of the female demon was very accurate.

The two furry young demons on the Mist Ship indeed didn’t understand the difficult terms like dimension and form.

But they always managed to grasp the core of the matter with their beast-like intuition.

"From the First University?" Ryan gave the female demon a suspicious glance: "I thought when you escaped back from the charter plane, the First University lost sight of us."

"Right, right." Harry held "Ladies in Flowers" in his hand, fanning the female demon while curiously asking: "I remember you boasted...no, said last time, that the guy causing trouble in school now is from the Poseidon...when did we send someone back in?"

Nikita was immediately at a loss for words.

This is what they call "In the Dark Under the Lamp" — when no one reminds you, many people will ignore the things happening right in front of them, take them for granted, and never find them strange.

But this shadow will ultimately distort as the light above shifts.

Once you change the angle, you can easily notice the anomalies within.

"I don’t know too..." The female demon murmured, twirling her hair around her fingers, over and over again.

"No wonder you are still alive." The blond Ryan seemed to finally understand something, his crimson eyes flashing, a look of realization on his face: "I have been wondering...why are you still alive after messing up the mission, and have become one of us."

"Because I brought back very important news!" Nikita huffed indignantly.

"News? Ah ha..." The blonde demon seemed to hear something amusing, scoffing: "I have a hundred methods, each different, to extract the news I want from your withering brain... think about how many methods the captain has."

The female demon sniffed, keeping silent.

"Most importantly," Ryan seemed dissatisfied and moved closer to the witch’s ear, whispering gloomily: "The rules of the Mist Ship is straightforward. In the captain’s perspective, there’s only success or destruction...having not successfully completed the captain’s mission, what makes you think you deserve to stay alive?"

Nikita finally showed an uneasy expression.

The sea breeze blew, making her tighten her robe around her body.

The weather seemed to be getting a little colder.

"Alright, alright, don’t scare our pretty new crew member!" Harry suddenly pushed Ryan away, laughing heartily: "I was not done asking... what message did that multi-dimensional butterfly bring?"

"Not much news," Nikita answered softly. "The Wizard Covenant recently sent an investigation group to the school. Apparently, the group leader rapped on the table during a professor’s alliance meeting... Also, the Moon Council’s office in Beta Town has seen a flurry of people going to and fro, it seems like they’re busy with something."

"I’ve always thought that the Moon Aristocrats should be on our side," Ryan confessed, shaking his head while holding his chin. "I wonder why the wizards got them on their side..."

"Because we are weaklings, and the Wizard Alliance overwhelms us," Harry peeled away at the scar without mercy. "If we had a hundred big demons, wouldn’t we stroll around the world without fear or need to hide or drift on the high seas?"

Ryan squinted his eyes but ended up not refuting.

"Oh, that’s right. The First College seems to be short on manpower recently. Even for the anticipated silence recurrence this year, they simply delegated it to assistant professors and school workers to handle..."

Harry and Ryan exchanged meaningful glances.

" And regarding the opening ceremony... that butterfly had even recorded the much too alive man’s speech." Nikita, counting on her fingers, murmured, "That old man, yet again, was promoting tolerance and harmony at the opening ceremony... Back when I started school, it was the same, and it’s still the same, totally predictable."

"Living too long is like a sucked dry bone, it might still have some lingering scent left, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s completely devoid of nutrition," Harry, arms crossed, shared a philosophical thought.

This revelation left the female demon quite astonished.

She never knew that the often careless male demon had such a deep side to him.

However, this little depth, like a whirlwind, came suddenly and faded just as rapidly.

"I remember you said before," Harry suddenly bent down, sneakily glanced around, and lowered his voice, "I heard you say the captain suspects that the eternal man from the First College has disappeared for a while... And has not been at the school all these years?"

"Indeed that thought has crossed me." The female demon was rotating her fingertip around the hair tip and answered honestly.

"But," Ryan, with slightly perplexed expressions, queried, "you just mentioned that he was delivering a speech at the opening ceremony?!"

"Idiot!" Harry stomped his foot while chiding irritably. Expression seemingly apprehensive and restless, "I have a hundred different demonic arts that can simulate your mental fluctuations... And that place is the First College, where dozens of wizards come and go every day, the First College!"

"You mean to say..." Ryan seemed to have finally understood what Harry meant.

"I didn’t say anything!" Harry quickly squatted down, then stood up again and started pacing along the edge of the ship’s deck by a broken wooden board. "But, maybe, this is opportunity..."

"What opportunity?" The female demon was finally showing some interest.

"The one you’ve been hoping for... Your chance to leave the kitchen." Harry stopped, his expression turned serious for once. "And then there’s us... An opportunity to go even further."

A glimmer of red light appeared in Ryan’s eyes.

"What do you think, why has the captain been meeting those three old guys lately?" Harry asked, a meaningful smile playing on his face. "I even know that he wrote a letter to Brother Barton... What do you think, the reason the captain summoned his battle captains?"

"What does he want to do?" Ryan, who seemed rather aggressive all this time, looked a bit uneasy now. "I remember that we had an agreement with the Wizard Covenant..."

"If the First College disappears, then naturally, the agreement will be void too." The demon in a pink polo shirt unabashedly patted his companion’s shoulders and turned to the female demon with his lips curling upwards, revealing sharp teeth. "I can hardly contain the urge within my heart... to burst into that college and feast on those sweet flesh and blood."

Nikita stayed silent.

Her red eyes were rolling with some kind of longing, with her body shivering due to the excitement.

"I want to go too..." she murmured.

"Relax!" Harry crossed his arms, a smug look on his face. "Brother Barton has my back... I’ll help you sort out the blood cloth..."

"I don’t know what you guys are planning to sort out." A sluggish voice suddenly sounded from behind the young demons. An old one-legged man carrying the deadly wind lamp hobbled past the group of young demons. He called out ominously, "But I do know that you’ll certainly need to stay alive for that... The captain ordered to set the sail five minutes ago... You better look out now."

Harry and Ryan’s faces turned pale at once.

Meanwhile, Nikita tip-toed carefully towards the kitchen.

For the first time, she seemed to truly love her job on the ship.
