Chapter 315: Chapter 239: The Triangular Prism on the School Badge_1
Zheng Qing felt that the school allowing pets to attend the opening ceremony was a colossal mistake.
It was simply disastrous.
When Poseidon, with his fluffy tail, darted into the arms of the young scholarship student, he momentarily felt a thrill of surprise——After all, they were at school, and his interactions with the Little Fox were far and few between except during the morning exercises, and they rarely had the opportunity to frolic about together.
The animals that followed were somewhat less agile than Poseidon.
A plump pink pig grunted as it shook its round rear end, knocking a male student in its way over, making him tumble; while two large cats walked elegantly, their tails hooked together, heads high and chests out, utterly oblivious to their actions which had frightened several young children to tears. Yet a group of Teddy dogs, unabashedly embracing the shins of the witches amid the bustling crowds, caused a burst of screams and laughter from the crowd at their head untiringly saluting the bright lights.
Not to mention the gigantic wolf spiders scuttling up the walls, the various creepy-crawlies sliding past the freshmen’s feet, and the warts on the skin of the ugly toads teeming with poison. The various strange and twisted pets chilled to the bone, as a consequence the owners of these pets faced many challenges.
The worst ones were the crows, the falcons and many other birds flapping their wings in mid-air. Perhaps to reduce their weight, or maybe simply because they had eaten too much at noon, their short intestines couldn’t contain too much ’flight’——This resulted in sporadic outbursts of surprise and angry scolding from the crowd.
"Watch out!" Zhang Ji Xin yanked Zheng Qing’s robe and pulled him back a step.
As Zheng Qing was still stunned, a warm pile of bird droppings brushed past his nose and splatted onto the floor.
"Holy shit..." A thousand words were gathered into one, the young scholarship student’s facial muscles twitched. He barely restrained himself from pulling out his Law book, hanging that green-headed duck which had just landed on the ground wriggling its butt, and giving it a good trashing.
"New students!"
"Attention, new students!"
"Hey, hey..."
"Squeak..."
The earsplitting cacophony sounded out, Zheng Qing covered his ears and looked towards the source. He didn’t know when, but a lot of thick vines had suddenly grew out, dangling topsy-turvy from the large pillars around First Hall.
The roots of the vines were embedded in the pitch-black void above, with branches extending outwards, the wide leaves revealing intricate red patterns resembling spiderwebs.
At the tips of the vines, numerous Speaker Flowers of all different colors were blooming at a rate clearly visible to the naked eye.
The weave of strange noises was gushing out from the trembling flower petals:
"All...new...stu...dents please...be...aware..."
"All new...students please note..."
"All new students...please take note!"
As the Speaker Flowers bloomed more and more thoroughly, the intermittent noises gradually disappeared. The sentences relayed by the flowers became more fluent, with increasingly loud and clear voices:
"There is still half an hour before the start of the opening ceremony."
"New students, please form a line according to your faculties."
"The school staff committee has just issued a notice forbidding pets from randomly excreting in First Hall. Feeding of pets is also prohibited during the ceremony. New students, please look after your pets and prevent any incidents of pets injuring people."
"Students who are not in their robes, please leave to change immediately. If casual dresses are spotted during the ceremony, your supervision credit will be deducted by the school disciplinary committee."
"During the ceremony, squabble, clamour and the like are not allowed."
"During the ceremony, moving around is strictly forbidden..."
"Tardiness, early departure and the like are not allowed..."
"..."
The Speaker Flowers droned on and on, repeating the rules non-stop.
At first, the new students had obediently listened to their chatter, but they soon realized that apart from the loudness, these Speaker Flowers didn’t have any other capabilities.
As for the staff of the school affairs committee, they were Grey Robe Wizards who were attending to their own tasks. They turned a blind eye to the surrounding situation.
Consequently, the tittering among the audience started to spread again.
And the noise started to rise again.
"A little penalty here, a little penalty there, every bit of my score has been deducted." Li Meng counted on her fingers, muttering gloomily, "When Xiao Bai needs to poop, could I possibly stop him?"
"Li Meng!" Jiang Yuliu scowled, glaring at her angrily.
The young sorceress stuck out her tongue and hid behind Zheng Qing.
Spooked by his master’s movements, Xiao Bai the pigeon took flight, but quickly recognized a familiar face and landed on Zheng Qing’s shoulder.
Poseidon was perched on Zheng Qing’s other shoulder, flicked his ears at the noise, fluffed up his tail and quickly shut his eyes, deciding to pretend he hadn’t seen the intruder.
"This problem, that problem, every day I look up and I’m surrounded by problems." Zheng Qing tilted his head, stroked Xiao Bai’s smooth feathers and sighed.
"You’re just a kid. What’s with the long face!" Li Meng slapped him on the back and bluntly said, "Tell your sister your problem, I’ll help you solve it!"
Zheng Qing gave her a blank look.
Li Meng blinked her eyes and nervously pouted her lips.
"Do you guys know what the biggest controversy at the First University is?" Xiao Xiao suddenly asked, looking up from his notebook with keen interest.
"Should we wear a uniform color for our school uniform?" Zheng Qing looked at the colorful gowns on the square and groused, "Or should academic credit system be abolished?"
He had not yet recovered from the blow of the Campus Newspaper’s list, and the Gypsy witches’ sudden coldness was even more disconcerting.
So his response to Doctor Xiao’s question was rather perfunctory.
Xiao Xiao frowned, clearly unsatisfied with this negative response.
"I know, I know!" Li Meng eagerly raised her hand, "I’ve heard my cousin talk about it, it seems to have something to do with the school emblem... what was it again?"
The young girl frowned, wracked her brains.
"Who’s on the back of the triangular prism," Zhang Ji Xin chimed in.
"Right, right, exactly that!" The young girl nodded briskly, then turned and kicked Zhang Ji Xin, "You just interject when I was about to say it, how annoying!"
Zhang Ji Xin stepped aside with a wry smile.
"Who’s on the back of the triangular prism?" Zheng Qing perked up and repeated the question, puzzled, "What a paradox!"
He knew that the school emblem was a regular triangular prism.
Whether it was the acceptance letter or the magnificent stone gate not far afar, or the ubiquitous imprint throughout the school, the school emblem’s shape was clearly marked.
But, he didn’t understand the question.
"The school emblem’s triangular prism only shows three sides, but there are four faculties in our school, so this is problematic. The invisible side represents which school, and this is the biggest controversy in the First University." Li Meng explained.
"It’s said that this question is always one of the debatable topics at the annual debate competition." Zhang Ji Xin couldn’t help putting in another word. He skilfully dodged Li Meng’s kick.
Li Meng, full of fury, called on her pet pigeon and the ever-ready little fox Poseidon to pounce on him.
Zheng Qing chuckled.
Not only because of the playful brawl in front of him, but also because of this so-called biggest controversy.
This is really absurd.
"What is invisible isn’t necessarily ignored. On the contrary, every faculty is vying for that unseen glory." Xiao Xiao added: "Many independent observers, including critics from the Wizard Alliance, believe that the unseen side of the trihedron emblem represents the hidden truth of the First University, or, more precisely, the keystone of the trihedron."
"That seems a bit boring." Zheng Qing felt this controversy was a bit overblown, "The school can cast a rotating magic on the school emblem, so that every side gets a chance to be seen."
"That’s the strange thing. The school refuses to do so." Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, "The school turns a blind eye to a small magic that could solve a big dispute. This is openly telling everyone that the trihedron on the school emblem being visible on only three sides has its symbolic meaning."
Zheng Qing narrowed his eyes.
Looking around, the four-colored robes were clearly divided into four sections around the long hallway of the First Hall, without any overlap.
Even the festive atmosphere of the celebration couldn’t make these divergences any more harmonious.
