Chapter 307: Chapter 231: End of the Month Class Meeting_1

Zheng Qing ultimately did not instigate a grand identity revolution in the world of elves.

He was also unable to coax the gypsy witch out of the international student dorm.

Therefore, after patrolling on Saturday night, he did not return to his dorm to rest but went straight to the Book Mountain Library, sitting at the desk where he tutored Elena, praying that he could catch a glimpse of her enchanting figure here.

Perhaps because he fell asleep during the prayer or maybe because his prayer was not entirely pious, God in his anger abandoned this sham believer.

From morning to afternoon, Zheng Qing slept with blurry eyes and a numb half-body, not even eating properly. The library was bustling with people, but the figure of the witch never appeared.

Time ticked away, second by second.

The hour and minute hands of the clock had overlapped and crisscrossed more than a dozen times.

Suddenly, it seemed, night had fallen.

Today was Sunday, and according to Old Yao’s rules, there was a class meeting in the evening.

The young student looked at the gradually greening sky outside the window, sighed deeply, finally stood up, and left with a tired heart.

The classroom for the meeting was located in the east 601 of the main teaching building, which was also the classroom for the curse class on weekdays.

When Zheng Qing arrived, it was nearly seven o’clock. Most of the students were already seated. Since Professor Yao hadn’t arrived yet, the classroom was filled with a tumultuous atmosphere.

Pushing open the classroom door, the young student walked directly towards the back row with his head down. In the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a blurry figure sitting behind a desk near the wall. His nostrils seemed to be filled with a rich fragrance.

His eyelids felt a little dry.

"Why are you so late?" Xin Fat Man raised his arm, waved vigorously, and greeted casually.

"I lost track of time reading at the Book Mountain Library." Zheng Qing muttered, sitting down in the empty seat next to Xiao Xiao and sighed deeply.

"The person is just over there," Xiao Xiao’s lips twitched, speaking in a quiet voice, "Aren’t you going to do anything?"

Zheng Qing slapped his head on the desk with a thud.

"I don’t feel like it." He grumbled.

"I remember you saying that you didn’t want to regret not acting today in the future." Xiao Xiao’s voice grew slightly louder, vibrating Xin Fat Man’s ears and he tilted his head back.

Zheng Qing took a deep breath but still did not lift up his head.

"Some people, some things, once you miss them, you can never go back." Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, hesitating for a few seconds, then added, "Unless you can surpass the realm of a great wizard, there may still be a chance to reverse time and regret."

"What is the state of surpassing a great wizard?" Zheng Qing lifted his head, somewhat curious.

"Is that the point?!" Xiao Xiao twitched at the corner of his eye.

Xin Fat Man’s shoulders began to shake violently.

"Bang!"

The classroom door opened with a loud noise, interrupting Zheng Qing’s thoughts and silencing the originally noisy classroom.

Professor Yao had one hand in mid-air, still making the gesture of pushing the door open. His baffled expressions made it clear that he was startled by the noise too.

The classroom fell into silence.

"Up...Morning...!" the stick figure behind the door yelled with a sharp voice, "Mighty...!"

"Stop the noise." Old Yao’s face finally relaxed. Holding his pipe, he flicked the paper and laughed scoldingly, "Are you the culprit?"

"Unjust, Oh, Master, I am unjust..." The stick figure screamed, throwing a tantrum on the paper.

The students burst into laughter.

Old Yao didn’t say anything else but only smiled, shaking his head and striding to the podium.

"It’s always so energetic." With his chin resting on his hand, Zheng Qing watched as the little figure crawled up from the corner of the paper, sitting cross-legged, its hat reversed on the ground like a beggar starting to work.

"That’s not energy...that’s madness." Xiao Xiao murmured, "If you were confined to a single piece of paper every day, maybe you’d be crazier."

Zheng Qing thought about the constraints of such monotonous days and immediately shuddered, quickly swatting away the negative emotions.

Then, he noticed a detail.

"Who gave it a hat!" The young student stared at the rough upward-shaped hat on the paper, nudging Dr. Xiao with his elbow.

"I don’t know... Maybe it was some kind-hearted lady." Xiao Xiao’s lips moved, warning, "If you don’t want Old Yao to call you up to recite your ’Weekly Life Report,’ shut your mouth right now!"

Zheng Qing swallowed nervously and cast a guilty glance at the podium.

Some elder’s rotten idea, the school seemed to believe that having students keep a simple daily journal, which would then be compiled into a book, would effectively strengthen their mental qualities.

Thus, Jiuyou Academy firmly implemented this suggestion from the school.

Every Sunday’s class meeting, Old Yao would ask students to hand in their weekly diary entries—if someone’s performance was ’out of’ his expectations, he would cheerfully ask the student to stand on the podium and recite their week’s activities with emotion.

"This week is the last Sunday of September." On the podium, Professor Yao’s deep and powerful voice slowly rose, "It’s been a month since you entered the First University."

"Each of you should have gained something, more or less."

"It could be a spell, a magic potion, a few talismans, a few magic runes... of course, it could also be friendship or love."

The classroom was suddenly filled with some uneasy murmurs.

Everyone was exchanging subtle but clear glances of communication.

"I’m delighted to see you all growing in this campus."

"I also hope that in the coming days, you’ll maintain this proactive and diligent spirit, and go even further on your own paths."

Zheng Qing’s ears automatically filtered out Old Yao’s official-sounding pleasantries.

He bowed his head, copying the incantation of the Binding Spell over and over again in his Law Book, using mental fatigue to ease the inner anxiety.

He didn’t know how much time had passed.

Until Xiao Xiao pulled at his arm.

"What?" Zheng Qing turned his head in surprise.

"Listen," Xiao Xiao gestured him to look at the podium, "Old Yao has begun to talk about the work schedule for next week."

"What’s there to listen to..." Zheng Qing muttered, "The schedule is fixed... every week is the same old stuff."

Then Professor Yao’s next sentence surprised him and made his eyes widen.

"Next Monday, we will hold the Opening Ceremony."

"The location is in the First Hall... does anyone not know where the First Hall is?"

Everyone quickly shook their heads.

"Monday afternoon’s talisman class will be canceled, as usual, we will arrange for you to make up this talisman lesson during Friday afternoon’s practice class... Everyone, make sure to note it down clearly on your schedule... I will inform Tang Dun and Jiang Yu about the specifics of the Opening Ceremony after tomorrow morning’s spell class... Does anyone have any other questions?"

"Professor, why is the Opening Ceremony being held so late!"

"Who’s hosting it, the headmaster?"

"Didn’t expect a special Opening Ceremony... I thought the old man already held one for us when we got off the plane."

For a moment, many people were eagerly discussing this topic, and the classroom instantly fell into a flurry.

"Quiet!!" Old Yao slammed his pipe down on the table.

The classroom immediately regained its former calm.

"If there are no other questions, the meeting is dismissed!"

"Stay safe!"

The sound of chairs and tables moving filled the classroom immediately.

"Zheng Qing, stay back." Old Yao snapped his fingers, calling back the scholarship student who had just stood up.

After sending their most sincere blessings with their glances, his classmates vanished from the classroom in no time.

"There are a few things to notify you." Old Yao bit his pipe, placed a hand on Zheng Qing’s shoulder, and walked out with him, speaking slowly:

"Tomorrow at the Opening Ceremony, the Wizard Alliance may come and give you an award to commend your outstanding performance at the Four Seasons Pavilion... Be mentally prepared and try not to be too nervous if you need to give a speech."

"Also, your medical checkup results from the school clinic are out. Tomorrow, or the day after, let’s find a time to discuss this issue... As I’ve said before, your headache is a big problem."

"But don’t worry, this is, after all, the First University, there’s no problem we can’t solve..."
