Chapter 252: Chapter 176: Two Issues_1
Academy.
Office building.
A meeting room on the first floor.
The ’Sacred Will’, one of the super-clubs of Jiuyou Academy, was holding its weekly meeting in a meeting room.
Despite a shocking accident that had just occurred not far from Bell Lake’s lakeside not long ago, it did not affect the meeting’s schedule at all.
Because this is the top university, they represent the will of the academy.
The meeting room on the first floor of the office building is a small meeting room and does not have much space. Behind the purple-red circular conference table, there are less than twenty chairs.
The venue usually arranges a group of elves to help with pouring tea, setting up fruit plates, and arranging flower baskets.
Unlike their grey–dressed companions in the classrooms, the elves in the meeting room wore red little robes, and many mysterious magic symbols were carved on their half-transparent wings. They would shimmer and glow during vibrations, which was especially enchanting.
An elf carrying a huge fruit basket staggered into the meeting room from the side door.
The fruit basket was filled with plump and round grapes, bright red apples, and yellow pears.
These fruits had been carefully washed. Under the sunlight, you could still see crystal-clear water drops slowly sliding down their smooth skin.
The little elf dragged the basket along the round table, placing some fruits in front of each wizard attending the meeting, finally pausing at the end of the meeting table.
There sat a tall male wizard.
He rested his arm on the table, his hands were folded, supporting his chin. His eyes were deep, his expression calm.
After the elf puts down the grape and pear from her basket in front of the wizard, she looked like she finally got a breath of relief, leaned against her basket, and sat down on the tabletop, panting heavily.
The wizard dropped his eyelids and gave the elf a surprised look.
Due to their timid, suspicious nature, these creatures rarely interact with wizards other than their master, let alone behaving like this.
The wizard hesitated for a moment, picked a grape from the fruit plate, and offered it to the small elf.
Maybe this truly was an oddball amongst little elves.
Without any hesitation, she happily held the fruit that was half the size of her head, making "Hehe" sounds and started munching on it.
The wizard raised the corner of his mouth a little, which then fell back again.
"The Alpha issue ends here." his voice was deep, his eyes sharp and he quickly returned to his usual serious work mode: "Next item, William."
The wizard knocked his knuckles on the thick tabletop, signaling the meeting to proceed.
"Alright, Lei Zhe." A handsome wizard with brown hair and black eyes stood up, bowed slightly, and then reseated, flipping open his memo in front of him.
"There is only one issue concerning divination this week," William spoke with a gentle tone, his voice very soft, forming a sharp contrast with his sharp features. "That is about the recent wilting event of magical creatures at Bell lake. Many students, including second and third-year veterans, hope that we could provide better suggestions."
"What other advice do they want?" laughed Hoffman scornfully: "Writing letters to their parents in tears? Exposing it to the ’Beta Town Post’? Or do they want us to carve a peach charm for each person? Ridiculous!"
"Indeed," another wizard nearby echoed: "Just like at noon today, you’ve submitted an inquiry letter to the school under immense pressure. If mishandled, it could even affect your studies... They have no right to ask for more."
"Even if someone has to be held responsible, it should be the folks from the student union... This is the Sacred Will gathering, it’s unreasonable for us to manage all these."
"How is the Jiuyou Academy Student Union different from Sacred Will?" A low voice suddenly came from a corner of the meeting room.
The meeting room fell silent for a moment, followed by a round of soft laughter.
Indeed.
Eighty percent of the Jiuyou Academy Student Union members belong to the Sacred Will, and the leader of Sacred Will also serves as the chairman of the student union.
"This is ****ing ridiculous." Lei Zhe’s mouth curled up slightly, yet he did not laugh out loud.
The meeting room quickly returned to silence.
"Regarding the wilting of magical creatures at Lin Zhong Lake, I’ve had brief discussions with Professor Yi, Professor Yao, Professor Li, and Old Man Sistanda." Lei Zhe spoke at a steady pace and in a calm tone, as if he had done a negligible task.
But the young wizards present respected him deeply.
Not everyone has the privilege of discussing issues with these senior professors in the school - let alone such sensitive and severe issues. Even the teaching assistants in the academy probably don’t know much more.
"Combining everyone’s opinions, the wilting of magical creatures is due to the loss of vitality." Lei Zhe carefully chose his words, finally bringing peace to everyone’s minds, "These incidents do not involve monsters... they should be considered some kind of magical creature mutation, or the attack of some unknown creature."
"The academy has arranged for related professors, teaching assistants, and school staff to conduct a joint operation to capture the unidentified creatures in the upcoming week."
"This matter is collectively managed by the professors’ joint meeting and school staff committee, while the Student Union supervises."
"As for the students who hope for our advice," Lei Zhe paused for a moment, eventually suggested, "Let them practice spells from the recently issued ’Easy Manual of Anti-curse Magic’."
William softly agreed and closed his notes in front of him.
"Is there anything else?" Lei Zhe tilted his head, looking at the little elf sucking grape juice beside him, asking kindly.
"Any special targets for this week’s freshman recruitment?" asked a girl with scattered long hair sitting to Lei Zhe’s left.
"As per practice," Lei Zhe sighed slightly, "Anyone recommended needs to provide a properly formatted recommendation letter; anyone holding our invitation can directly serve as department staff; those applying through regular procedures, as with previous years, must pass an exam and two interviews, the best will be admitted. The admission notice will be posted in the next issue of the campus newspaper."
"As for special targets," he hesitated for a moment, finally saying, "Most of the best new students of 08th batch at Jiuyou Academy are in Professor Yao’s Astronomy Class 08-1. You can prioritize recruiting from this class."
"The two public expense students and one specially recruited student of this year can also be admitted first... provided they wish to join our ’Holy Will’."
The girl with long hair nodded continuously, swiftly recording these points in her notes.
"If there are no other matters, let’s adjourn." Lei Zhe stood up, stretched his neck, and appeared relaxed, "Although you are not afraid of the unknown creatures by the lake, there’s still some risk, so please pair up when you go out... I don’t want any member of the ’Will’ to get injured."
The wizards behind the conference table all agreed, stood up, and orderly left the meeting room.
Lei Zhe left last.
Before leaving, he extended a finger, and gently touched the little elf clutching a grape, muttering, "Eat slower... look at you, your face is all smeared with grape juice."
"If you like it, you can keep a bunch of little elves yourself." The long-haired girl’s eyebrows curved, and her voice became very warm.
"It’s not the same, Joan, you know." Lei Zhe hugged her waist, took a deep breath, his voice became a bit heavy, "Do you really have to participate in this school hunting party... think about Friedman and Sepulano, there are many other young people who are as ambitious as them."
"Isn’t that always the case?" Joan smiled slightly, brushed away her long hair from her ears, and spoke lightly, "You can’t keep holding me back."
"I insist," Lei Zhe suddenly laughed, "I insist on holding you."
"Then I have to figure out a way to run away," the long-haired girl laughed, and in a flash, she appeared at the door of the meeting room.
Lei Zhe slowed down his pace.
"Clean up then rest." He looked at the little red-robed elves and commanded, "No need to remove the flowers. In the afternoon, several professors will have a meeting here... They won’t mind such details."
A few slightly taller elves stepped forward, and they obediently responded.
"And you," Lei Zhe turned his head, glanced at the elf still holding the grape, and smiled, "Don’t eat until you’re sick."
Having said this, he quickly left the meeting room.
The little red-robed elves seemed suddenly liberated. They buzzed their wings, flitting skillfully around the meeting room, sorting utensils and cleaning with magic.
The elf still holding her grape, after Lei Zhe’s figure disappeared, promptly tossed the grape aside, spitting out a few grape seeds in anger.
"Damn it!" Her voice was shrill and sharp, "An unnecessary meeting, and yet I have to play nice! ...Jiuyou Academy is still as stubborn and dogmatic as ever!"
Having said this, a puff of grey smoke arose.
This little elf transformed into a grey butterfly, passing walls and mirrors, gracefully leaving.
The other red-robed elves still tidying up the room seemed to not notice this special companion at all.
They continued humming tunes in a language no one understood, flying, keep on flying.
