Chapter 236: Chapter 160: This isn’t Magic_1
"Love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation."
"Magic-brewed love doesn’t need a reason."
"Though it’s not as deeply imprinted in one’s soul as true love, it’s even more romantic and heart-pounding."
These were the words that Professor Li had once spoken to their naive college selves when beginning their potion classes.
As a university student who had only received half a month of formal wizard education, Zheng Qing’s understanding of love-related magic was quite superficial. The limited knowledge he possessed made it impossible for him to discern the difference between real love and magically created love.
Although his roommates expressed some concern about his romantic situation, Zheng Qing didn’t take it to heart.
The feelings between him and Elena were indeed very subtle, but he was very sure that they were not the effects of any magic.
After all, such a beautiful girl.
With just a snap of her fingers, she could draw in a host of hormone-abundant male wizards like moths to a flame.
There was absolutely no need to go to the trouble of using any magic potions or spells.
Of course, this was exactly what made his roommates suspicious.
"How could such a stunning girl be attracted to you?" Dylan stood hidden behind a thick wooden coffin, only revealing a handsome head: "This isn’t magic."
"It’s very magical," Zheng Qing forcefully rebutted.
"Even though you’re average-looking, short, not rich, and aren’t good with words. No matter what, you do have some...no, a bit of talent," said Xin Fat Man who was sprawled out lazily in front of the desk: "Maybe Elena is attracted to your talent?"
Listening to his brutal evaluation, Zheng Qing wanted to rebut, but after thinking for a while, he was lost for words and hung his head in frustration.
"He’s short. Then what about me?" Xiao Xiao lifted his head from his notebook, staring gloomily at Xin Fat Man.
"You? Just a few inches." The fat man held out his right thumb and index finger, jesting, "a few inches, not even a bit more."
Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, glanced at Zheng Qing, and dabbed his brush in the inkwell.
Zheng Qing cheerfully reached into the grey cloth bag, pulling out a few inferior suppression charms.
The Fatty Cat seemed to sense the murderous intent in the air, hastily hopping off Xin Fat Man’s belly and bounding back into the bed, tucking itself back into the quilt.
"What are you guys up to!" Xin Fat Man struggled to prop himself up, staring at Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao, who were smiling wickedly in front of him, he screamed in terror, "Murder! Murderer! 403 has a homicide!"
Tuan Tuan sneezed disdainfully, hid in the quilt, puling in its claws, and in a moment, it fell into a deep sleep.
Dylan peeked excitedly out from behind the curtains, his face full of utter delight.
A few moments later, the Blue Giant, with black eye circles painted around his eyes and a few lines added to his cheeks, finally wiggled out from the hands of his roommates, and sprinted towards the balcony to clean the stains on his face.
When he returned to the dorm, rolling onto his six-pillar bed, the young wizards in the room were still discussing Zheng Qing’s love topic.
"If you can’t calm down, then boldly ask her out" Xiao Xiao suggested.
"Like he did last weekend?" Xin Fat Man, lying on his bed, immediately forgot about the ugly ink stains on his face from a few minutes ago, and laughed loudly: "Falling asleep while helping someone with homework! Is there anything more ridiculous than this!"
Zheng Qing shot him a threatening look, tapping the ink tray on his desk with his fingers.
Fat Man decisively shut his mouth.
"It’s better than wailing every morning in the dorm." Xiao Xiao returned to her desk and sorted out the textbooks she needed for today’s class.
"What if I’m rejected?" Zheng Qing felt somewhat tempted, but he was still hesitant.
"Then keep inviting," Dylan, holding a book, leaned against his large coffin and said gloomily: "If you are truly in love, you won’t give up at the first sign of failure... Besides, besides rejection, there’s nothing more you can lose."
"Yes." Zheng Qing nodded very affirmatively: "At least I still have hope now."
"The feeling of youth is wonderful." Dylan put the book on his face and said sadly: "As a mature man of eighteen hundred years old like me, I can no longer understand you young people!"
"Last time you were twelve hundred years old," Zheng Qing couldn’t help but comment: "When did you increase by six hundred years!"
"Really?" Dylan raised his head in surprise, his eyes clear and sincere: "Then I must have remembered it wrong... I have a bad memory with age, you young people should understand."
Zheng Qing retched and was speechless.
"Hope, it is a thought more addictive than drugs, more illusory than dreams." Xin Fat Man, holding Tuan Tuan, recited in a passionate voice: "Without hope, what difference does it make from death?"
The lazy flower cat lazily drooped its hind legs, the tip of its tail twitched, and it lazily snored twice as if it was echoing Xin Fat Man’s new poem.
"Love and such can be considered later... But now I think I should go for morning practice." Xiao Xiao was already dressed neatly, seriously dressing up her watermelon head in front of the mirror.
Xin Fat Man rolled off the bed in a whirl, put on his robe quickly, and packed hastily.
"What are you going to do when we go for morning classes?" Zheng Qing was surprised.
"I’m also going for morning classes." Xin Fat Man muttered, tightening his belt a little more.
"You, going for morning classes?" Zheng Qing couldn’t help but comment: "Do you know where the Flying Garden is?"
"Don’t you know... Woken up by you, I don’t feel like sleeping anymore." Xin dragged his eyelids, rubbed the Tuan Tuan who was still sleeping soundly, and sighed: "So it is said, it’s always good to be alive and well, but too lively... If I could live like a fat cat, eating and sleeping all day, that would be a fairy life."
"I’ll also go, I’ll also go!" Dylan dropped the book in his hand, quickly jumped out of his big coffin, pulled the crimson curtains shut in one go, and cried hurriedly: "I haven’t enjoyed the early morning sun in a long time, I miss it."
Zheng Qing opened his mouth, but finally gave up the idea of saying something.
Tuan Tuan snored, drew in his tail, shrunk his body deeper into the quilt, and tried to ignore the noise of a few new-borns in his ear.
The elves obediently fell on the bookshelf, folded their wings, and enjoyed the rest of the floating life.
Unlike the young wizards, they preferred a quiet and comfortable life.
They stepped out of the dormitory, handed Grandpa Niwu a few rolls of waste tobacco, followed the endless corridor excavated along the wall of the academy, passed through the lush bamboo forest, and quickly arrived at the Flying Garden.
Unlike usual, today’s Flying Garden seemed a bit busier.
There were many unfamiliar faces on the usually quiet lawn. They gathered in groups of two or three, neither performing morning exercises nor worrying about disturbing others’ peace. They occasionally opened the law book, cast a few spells at will, and won the warm cheers of their companions.
Normally, there are more Nine Have Students in red robes and Starry Sky students in blue robes in the Flying Garden.
But today, the number of the four-color Institute robes was roughly the same, as if many people had an epiphany overnight that diligence can make up for lack of talent, and heaven rewards the diligent.
This made Zheng Qing very surprised.
