Chapter 198: Chapter 122: Vampire and Werewolf_1
As a full-scholarship student at the number one university, Zheng Qing might not have been involved with the wizarding world for a long time, but that did not mean he knew nothing about it.
Through reading the "Wizard World Encyclopedia," Zheng Qing had a comprehensive understanding of many groups that were practically strangers to him.
Take vampires and werewolves, for example.
As the two most well-known races in the Undermoon Council, every wizard who has received a formal education is required to gain a necessary understanding of these two creatures.
A wizard might not be adept at preparing complex Magic Potions or mastering the thirteen skills of Rune Overlap; but they must be aware of the taboos and preferences of werewolves and vampires and are versed in the boundaries of these undermoon creature territories.
This would greatly ensure the personal safety of a wizard when traveling outside.
Due to there being a member of a renowned vampire family in his class, and even more so because there was a half-blood child of the Blood Race and Werewolves in his dormitory. Out of concern for his own life, Zheng Qing had crammed the related knowledge of these two major races a while back.
For example, Zheng Qing knew that vampire territories mainly concentrated in the Balkan Peninsula, Great Britain, and the North American coastal areas; while Werewolf territories mostly lay along the Rhine River, on the Mongolian Plateau, and the Great Lakes-Mississippi River basin.
Besides, Zheng Qing also knew that werewolves and vampires both operate as families in the wizarding world, and their clan organization forms are very stringent.
A formal vampire family usually includes a patriarch, several elders who are quite old, a small number of vampire offspring, and a large number of blood servants.
As a species that regards blood as faith, vampires distinguish their status within the family by analyzing the quantity of original blood in their bodies and the degree of bloodline purity. A vampire with the most abundant original blood and the purest bloodline naturally becomes the clan leader of the family; a vampire with abundant original blood but lacking bloodline purity can only serve as an elder in the family; vampires that are usually seen in the wizarding world often have one of these two identities.
As for young vampires with pure bloodlines, they usually have poor self-control and are often ordered by their seniors to stay in the family’s castle. In fact, most of the half-bloods in the wizarding world are the troubles caused by these uncontrollable young vampires.
Vampires also have a Blood Council that is independent of the Undermoon Council—According to the history, the Blood Council’s history is older than the Undermoon Council—and the members of the Blood Council are the patriarchs of the various vampire families.
Through a top-down stringent organization, vampires possess a combat power that greatly surpasses other undermoon creatures, thereby establishing their status as the number one race under the moon.
Werewolves also have their unique organizational forms.
Normally, a Werewolf family usually includes a leading wolf, several female wolves, and a variable number of werewolf cubs. The leading wolf is referred to as the ’Alpha,’ responsible for guarding the safety of the entire Werewolf family; the female wolves are the Alpha’s spouses—they serve as the Hunters of the community, responsible for hunting down demons and any enemies that encroach on the community’s territory.
Little wolves under a certain age are sheltered in the family; those above a certain age are driven away by the Alpha. The cubs expelled from the family either find their mates, forming a new Werewolf family, or they can only wander among different Werewolf territories, becoming a disgraced lone wolf.
Lone wolves are not protected by the "Werewolf Codex."
Because of this harsh way of life, werewolves often associate themselves with cruel and merciless images in the minds of wizards.
Even in the Undermoon Council, many races don’t particularly like these violence-loving lunatics.
Zheng Qing looked at the young wolf cub from the Taylor family before him, with piles of information swiftly flashing through his mind.
Compared to other werewolf families, the Taylor family is more well-known in the wizarding world.
Not because of the strength of this family.
But because this family has tried to change the long-standing traditions of werewolves.
In this werewolf territory located in a valley somewhere in Quebec, apart from the Alpha, female wolves, and cubs, there were many adult werewolf elders!
The Alpha of the Taylor family allowed adult werewolves to continue to stay in the family—even rumors stated that this exceptional Werewolf clan leader was promoting monogamy within the family.
All these actions made the Taylor family bear the title of ’rebels.’
It was said that the only reason the werewolf kingdom did not ostracize this family was because the three Wolf Kings ignored this family and would watch it be destroyed in the future internal disputes.
Many werewolves firmly believed that, under the pressure of the powerful traditional history, the collapse of Taylor Family was just a matter of time.
Now, a member of this rebel family being enrolled in the Alpha Academy at the number one university that values bloodline inheritance the most, does this mean that the first university has made a new change in its stance about werewolves?
Zheng Qing rolled over the commentary article in the "Beta Town Post" in his heart, and couldn’t help but take a serious look at this member of the Taylor family in front of him.
Short black hair, deep green eyes, light skin tone, sturdy physique.
The most striking of all were his ten fingers.
Each finger was adorned with a shiny magic ring.
Protein Stone, Moonstone, Aventurine, Obsidian, Cat’s Eye, Crystal, Emerald, Opal, and so on, various glamorous precious gemstones were embedded in those rings one after another, as if they were worthless.
How much would that cost!
Zheng Qing quietly swallowed and sighs in his heart, wishing he could bite off one of this Taylor family’s wolf cub’s fingers.
One, just one ring. Not only would his one year of living expenses be solved, but even the subsequent treatment costs of the green elves wouldn’t pose any problem at all.
"Hello!" Andrew didn’t realize the variety of thoughts his appearance was causing in Zheng Qing’s heart. He stretched out his hand with a full smile on his face, and politely greeted him," I’m glad to meet you. My name is Andrew Taylor. I’m from Quebec, my family has a seat in the Undermoon Council...Of course, maybe you aren’t interested in these things."
A seat in the Undermoon Council?
Zheng Qing repressed the vicious thoughts that had sprung up in his mind a few seconds ago, quickly contemplating the meaning of this sentence, and also extended a friendly hand.
"Hello, my name...shi!" Like being electrocuted, Zheng Qing’s hand recoils rapidly after shaking hands with Andrew.
The intense pain made him exclaim out loud.
"Ah! I apologize." Andrew seemed to have just realized, raising hands to show he had no ill-intent at all, looking at Zheng Qing with a guilty face, saying apologetically," I’m sorry, my family elders were afraid I would be at a disadvantage on the outside, so they gave me many magical tools...In fact, I can’t even distinguish what function these things have."
With that, he raised his hands, showing Zheng Qing the colorful magic rings on his ten fingers.
"No problem." Zheng Qing forced a smile, glancing down at his own palm.
At the base of his right middle finger, a crimson spot of blood was slowly spreading along the fine lines of his skin.
