Chapter 1311: Chapter 58: The True Black Wizard (Part 2)
Full ’Min Tian Ji Wei’ was referred to as the Heavenly Punishment Curse, said to be capable of wide-range obliteration of all nefarious beings. Last year, during the winter hunting competition, when Su Shijun descended upon that sandbox mini world, Zheng Qing had the ’fortune’ to briefly experience the power of that curse.
Truly, it was as evasive as divine spirits and as unpredictable as heaven’s might.
At present, the curse Jiang Yu was using could only be considered a fraction of the Heavenly Punishment Curse, with a smaller scope of deterrence and weaker power.
Yet, even if it was weak, there should have been some reaction.
After closing his eyes, Zheng Qing silently counted to three and imagined what the two foul-mouthed individuals opposite him would turn into under this curse—mincemeat or completely charred?
After a while.
After the spell was cast, there was a long silence, and Zheng Qing heard no noise at all.
He opened his eyes in wonder, and the two Black Wizards looked at him in astonishment. Turning his head, the warlock saw that the witch who had been standing beside him had vanished without a trace.
Then, he felt a slight tug at his pant leg.
He looked down to find a familiar Little White Cat crouching next to his foot, its paw hooking on his robe.
The Little White Cat shook its tail, a look of confusion on its feline face.
Was this a backlash from the curse? The thought crossed Zheng Qing’s mind. But he immediately dismissed the idea. Min Tian Ji Wei and the transformation spell were completely different types of curses; it made no sense that a spell backlash could turn a wizard into a cat.
"A Forced Transformation Spell?!" the short wizard’s words jolted the Young Wizard out of his shock.
Zheng Qing suddenly realized that now was not the time to be lost in thought.
He turned back around, and the short and chubby man across from him had removed his sunglasses at some point, raising his arm and bringing his hand close to his eyes to take a closer look. The jade stone embedded in the gold ring on his right ring finger had cracked down the middle, and the spirit embedded in the whole stone had dissipated, turning it into mere rock.
"What a waste, such a waste," the chubby wizard muttered, pain evident in his eyes, "How could it be a Forced Transformation Spell... I thought it was a Protective Spell... There were cheaper ways... How could this happen..."
"It’s not your fault," the tall, skinny wizard bent down and comfortingly patted his companion’s shoulder, "Few people would seal such precious magic in jade. It deserves to be in an emerald."
"It’s just too wasteful," the short man continued to mutter to himself, repeatedly caressing the discolored jade on his finger, "There were cheaper ways..."
Listening to the conversation between the two Black Wizards, Zheng Qing finally caught on.
The gemstone embedded with jade must have been some ’spoils of war’ that the short man had scavenged from somewhere, mistakenly believing it to be a Protective Spell, only to find that the gemstone actually contained a Forced Transformation Spell.
This also resolved Zheng Qing’s greatest perplexity.
The Forced Transformation Spell is a type of magic that could only be studied by high-level Registered Wizards who were proficient in transformation spells, capable of forcibly converting a designated target into an animal form that the target had previously assumed, with the duration ranging from one minute to a lifetime depending on the caster’s ability.
The most distinctive feature of this spell was not the transformation itself, but its harmlessness.
Animals under Forced Transformation were immune to any physical and magical attacks during the transformation period and would rapidly recover from any injuries they had already sustained—if it weren’t for the somewhat odd ’side effect’ of ’Forced Transformation,’ this spell could completely become the best support magic in the hunting grounds.
It was these characteristics that made Zheng Qing realize why Jiang Yu had been turned into a cat without resistance.
Because the magic used by the opponent wasn’t offensive and didn’t carry any malicious curses, rather, it had a strong restorative effect. Thus, it wasn’t hindered by the amulets or treasures on Jiang Yu’s body.
Thinking of this, the young man silently sighed and moved his fingers that had been clutching the Law book and were slightly stiff—considering the poor quality of the Jade Stone, the ’Forced Transformation Spell’ wouldn’t last long, perhaps just a minute.
He needed to stall as long as possible.
"If you were more careful, it would be better," the warlock muttered, drawing out the Law book in front of him.
The tips of the little white cat’s ears turned slightly red as it quickly sprang onto Zheng Qing’s shoulder and fiercely yowled twice at the other party. The little green frog, which had been lying on Zheng Qing’s shoulder, obediently shrunk its body, letting the white cat’s paws step on its head.
Both Black Wizards looked over simultaneously.
Zheng Qing held the Law book unwaveringly, and a layer of pale, ghostly halo rose from it.
"I am very sorry to disturb your reflection time," the young cost student sincerely said, "...is the proposal for three gold beans still valid?"
The short, fat wizard showed a trace of an approving smile.
"No, not three gold beans," he raised a finger and waved it, "You heard wrong, I just said two gold beans. You give us two gold beans, and we let you leave."
His tone was very firm, as if he hadn’t seen the increasingly intense Magical fluctuations from the Law book in Zheng Qing’s hand.
Zheng Qing was almost laughed at by the shamelessness of the other party—although he also intended to just buy time, he didn’t expect the other party to be shameless to this extent, swallowing what was just said.
Suddenly, the little white cat became somewhat restless, swinging its paws continuously at Zheng Qing’s face.
Zheng Qing tilted his head, carefully avoiding her claws, while reprimandingly glancing at her and cautiously looking towards the two Black Wizards opposite him, "I have gold beans... but how can I believe what you say?"
As soon as he spoke, he somewhat regretted it.
He saw a flash of greed in the eyes of the fat man, immediately thinking of an idiom, ’negotiating with a tiger for its skin.’
Merely delaying time was not an option.
This thought crossed the young man’s mind. One hand still held the Law book in front of him while the other was raised to grab the little white cat by the belly, taking her down from his shoulder—it seemed as if it was just because the little white cat was too obtrusive, so he moved her somewhere else.
The moment the warlock grabbed her belly, the little white cat stiffened all over.
She originally wanted to snap and bite off the warlock’s ear—Zheng Qing’s ear was not far from her mouth, just a stretch of her neck away.
But suddenly, she felt a slightly stiff paper placed between Zheng Qing’s palm and her belly. The rising temperature of the paper made her realize it was a piece of Talisman paper.
A desperate situation calls for desperate measures.
Thus, with clenched teeth and puffing in anger, the little white cat let the young man place her on the ground.
A fleeting hint of red light flashed under Zheng Qing’s hand, realizing that the Talisman paper had landed on the ground after which Zheng Qing finally silently sighed in relief and took two steps back.
The little white cat followed his steps, also moving two steps backward.
As they moved back, the two Black Wizards stepped forward, constantly standing about ten paces away from the young wizards, unwilling to get any closer but reluctant to leave.
Zheng Qing felt the Law book in his grasp had been soaked with sweat, the cover becoming somewhat slick.
