Chapter 1267: Chapter 14: Holding onto the Thigh, Comfortable, Not Embarrassing
During winter break, Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao, among others, arrived at Gini Cottage to undertake a task, when Great Wizard Colmar earnestly told the young wizards that they needed their help to complete a "Sex Magic."
At that time, Xin Fat Man had actually been looking forward to it.
However, subsequent developments proved that the so-called "Sex Magic" was merely a means for the owner of Gini Cottage to tease a few poor young people. Their real task was still to do the grunt work, delineating formations, crafting talismans, and concocting magic potions.
Now, Great Wizard Colmar was using this excuse once again, and in front of other girls, no less.
Caught off guard, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but roll his eyes inwardly—could he really look so foolish as to fall for the same trick twice?
"You must think I’m joking, right?" the owner of Gini Cottage quipped, as she blew a long strand of hair from her forehead and gave the boys a charming smile. "This time it’s real... even if you’re not Lei Zhe, I’d still agree to make you my boyfriend."
Zheng Qing nearly choked on his Green Bee, coughing violently as he held his cup.
He really couldn’t handle this kind of seemingly truthful talk.
"Don’t joke with him," Jiang Yu scolded Colmar with a glance and then glared at the young cost student, reminding him, "How long do you plan to keep up with this idle chat? Have you forgotten why we’re here?"
Zheng Qing suddenly snapped back to reality, setting down his wine glass.
"You know Nicholas, right," he coughed and tried to speak in a more serious tone. "He’s the classmate in our class who’s repeated a year twice... Nicholas Green Oswald. Yesterday, at Near Bell Lake, he removed ’Oswald’ from his bloodline."
"I’ve heard about it too," Colmar nodded. "Weren’t Lei Zhe and Augustus fighting over this on the east side of town, destroying half a street? It’s been all the talk in the newspapers..."
"Great Sage!" A golden-curly-haired witch stuck her head out from between the balustrades on the second floor, interrupting the ’cordial’ and enthusiastic conversation down below—Zheng Qing noticed that this witch had a streak of silver hair hanging by her cheek, as if this had become the latest fashion in the Northern District. She called out in an anxious tone:
"Enock, that idiot, just tried to use a very complicated spell, and the Law book required so much magic power, it nearly drained half his life away... now he has more wrinkles on his face than a Shar-Pei! And his breathing is very weak... nobody knows what to do anymore."
"Stop using that term!" Colmar glared at the curly-haired witch exasperatedly and raised his voice slightly: "There’s a bottle of Amber Light in the bottom of the liquor cabinet, soaked with Sand Time Worms, wrapped in grey deer skin. Pour the liquid into another bottle, take out those Sand Time Worms and grind them into powder... I’ll handle the rest when I go up!"
"Alright, Great Sage!" The golden-curly-haired witch quickly withdrew her head, and soon, through the slightly ajar door, a cacophony of noises and chaotic footsteps could be heard from upstairs.
Colmar gave an apologetic look to the two guests.
"You have our thanks, Great Sage!" The young cost student looked at the owner of Gini Cottage, speaking earnestly, "The matter at hand is urgent..."
"Stop using that title," Colmar lifted a hand, making Zheng Qing flinch and recoil, anticipating a hit; however, the witch simply put her hand to her forehead, "Why are you all joining in on the nonsense."
"It’s not nonsense," Jiang Yu couldn’t help but smile, yet quickly pressed her lips together, trying to compose herself. "It’s the call of the Northern District... the collective voice of the Northern District Wizards."
Northern District Wizard.
Even though Jiang Yu had used this term before, hearing it again in such a context still caused Colmar to space out for a moment.
A slow smile spread across her lips.
"If you don’t mind, could you wait a little bit longer?" the owner of Gini Cottage sighed deeply and came back to her senses, "...They’re like a bunch of kids who just got a new toy."
"I’ve got half a Kabbalah Leaf here that might help you," said Jiang Yu, pulling out a book from her pocket and then stuffing a bookmark-shaped leaf into Colmar’s hand.
The owner of Gini Cottage hesitated for a second, then her face warmed into a smile, "That’s a big help... okay, okay, I won’t steal your little boyfriend from you."
Saying this, she glanced at the bewildered cost student and admonished, "When you see a thigh, you should hug it tightly... It’s comfortable to hug a thigh and not at all embarrassing."
Zheng Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth and subconsciously glanced at the thighs of the newly appointed Big Wizard, then promptly retracted his gaze. He really didn’t know how to react to his senior’s peculiar thought process.
However, he vaguely understood that Colmar’s reference to ’thighs’ was probably about Jiang Yu—the Kabbalah Leaves he had read about in his Magic Potion textbook were a kind of magical plant rich in life force, extremely rare. Zheng Qing had seen someone in the Wandering Wizard’s bar offering high prices for these leaves, but even with bids nearing fifty jade coins, there had been no takers, which showed their value and scarcity.
For Jiang Da Headmaster to use such a precious leaf as a bookmark, calling her a ’thigh’ didn’t seem inappropriate at all.
However, what concerned him more was something Colmar had said earlier.
He hadn’t heard that Jiang Yu had a boyfriend. Zheng Qing was puzzled and began to consider every possible suspect Warlock around Jiang Yu, completely oblivious to the slightly embarrassed expression on the nearby Witch’s face.
...
As it turned out, Colmar’s assessment of her subordinates, the new power-acquiring Northern District Wizards, was spot on. They were indeed a bunch of kids playing with their new toys.
Every fifteen minutes or so, a new magical mishap would occur: either two Warlocks practicing magic combat accidentally broke a partner’s leg, or a Wizard unfamiliar with Magic got himself hung by his own summoned vines in mid-air, not to mention exploding crucibles, screaming Mandala Grass, and Divination Crystal Balls that turned into gleaming light bulbs.
Zheng Qing couldn’t understand at all how those Northern District Wizards managed to make an ordinary Crystal Ball flash with so many colors.
In the past, the Tricksters of the Northern District definitely wouldn’t cause so much trouble, but now, the community-level social changes brought about by Magic far exceeded the impact that a single Transformation or Divination Skill should have.
Overall, most incidents were due to the Northern District Wizards’ abundant curiosity and desire to explore. Of course, many more accidents were the result of their foolishness due to a lack of systematic education.
What should have been a simple consultation continued in this foolish atmosphere, dragging on all afternoon.
When Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu were ready to head home, a golden full moon had already risen outside the window—they had unsurprisingly missed this evening’s class meeting. Fortunately, since Jiang Yu was the Monitor, she had the authority to write them an appropriate excuse note.
