Chapter 1147: Chapter 209 Sepulano’s Plan
"A wrong approach to learning can distort the mental and physical health of students, a very good point."
Listening to Arthur Ness’s words, Sepulano nodded in satisfaction:
"If you are willing to write an impartial investigative report on these opinions, then I will, in the name of the Vice President of Alpha Academy, bring it up for formal discussion at the Professors’ Joint Meeting; and at the same time, as the Vice President of the Blood Comrades and the President of the Auspicious Association, I will recommend it for publication in the Campus Newspaper and the Beta Town Post."
"Rest assured, this is Alpha’s official business. Official business is just that, without mixing in the internal conflicts of societies."
Arthur Ness finally felt a weight lift off his heart.
Such a simple matter, absolutely no problem at all. Initially, he thought Sepulano would persuade him to join the Auspicious Association, and if that were the case, he would have had to make a difficult choice between joining or not.
Joining would mean betraying Sir Friedman, and in any small group, traitors usually don’t fare well, especially the less capable ones; while not joining would mean that after being estranged by the Duke, he would offend another magnate of Alpha Academy, effectively condemning him to almost total isolation within the castle.
Arthur Ness had seen the miserable conditions of those isolated students; he did not want to end up like that.
Now, hearing Sepulano’s demands, he even felt a trace of gratitude.
Upon relaxing, a little excitement and a bit of fantasy bubbled up inside him. Perhaps after the investigative report was published, he could clear the stain off his name and regain the Duke’s appreciation?
As the wretched one fantasized, Sepulano seemingly casually reminded:
"Oh, and during the investigation, don’t just focus on Zheng Qing. That can easily trigger a counterproductive response from the readers. Our main targets are still the erroneous concepts and systems of Jiuyou Academy."
"You can find another example to support these arguments."
"For instance, I’ve heard about a veteran from Astronomy Class 08-1 who’s been held back two years, seemingly called Nicholas. Even though he is at Jiuyou Academy, he manifests the responsibility of an Alpha person, bravely confronting those radical thoughts inside Jiuyou Academy."
"He is the conscience of First University, the conscience of Jiuyou Academy."
"We must not chill the enthusiasm of the discerning people at Jiuyou Academy."
Arthur Ness nodded repeatedly, even wanting to take out a notebook to jot down these words. Unfortunately, he was not a diligent student and did not habitually carry a notebook.
After finishing his speech, Sepulano seemed a bit thirsty and picked up the cup in his hand, downing the remaining absinthe in one gulp. Then he glanced at Arthur Ness’s empty cup as well.
"Would you like some more?" the Fat Wizard asked amicably.
Arthur Ness suddenly came to his senses and immediately stood up: "No, no... I really have imposed on you today. If there’s nothing else, please allow me to take my leave."
Sepulano nodded slightly, watching as Arthur Ness bowed his head and backed out of the cramped reception room.
The fireflies hanging on the Dragonblood Vine shook their bottoms, and the light flickered as if seeing off the departing guest. Sepulano picked up the bottle, slowly filling his glass again, then repeated the process with a spoon, a cube of sugar, and a drip pot.
Ice water moistened the sugar cube drop by drop, falling into the glass.
A barely audible breeze swept into the reception room.
"Care for a drink?" Sepulano asked in a low voice, without looking up.
"No," the new guest chuckled lightly and refused, "Young people can endure more hardship. When you get older, you tend to prefer a warmer taste. I still like my ’Time of Flowing Gold.’"
Sepulano looked up at the owner of the Wandering Bar with a somewhat solemn expression, "Do you have any instructions for me?"
The Wandering Wizard leaned back on the spacious sofa, relaxed in posture, and looked at Sepulano with surprise and a hint of amusement in his eyes after hearing his words.
"Instructions? No, no, no, I just want to have a chat with the future Augustus of Alpha Academy," the Wandering Wizard said in a very amiable voice, his tone relaxed, definitely not appearing to be troubled.
Sepulano’s expression eased a bit.
"Augustus... huh." He shook his head and looked sideways toward a wall where Alpha Fortress was located. "The people in the fortress believe that tradition and lineage are more important than change. They probably prefer that guy Friedman."
"They have no other choice," the Wandering Wizard laughed softly and didn’t continue the topic. Instead, he brought up Arthur·Ness, who had just left, "If I am not mistaken, the Arthur·Ness who left earlier is an executive of the Friedman 3A Club. Do you plan to recruit him to join the Auspicious Association?"
Sepulano smirked, turned the tap of the drip pot even looser to increase the speed of the ice water dripping:
"I originally thought that after being taken down twice by Zheng Qing and being pushed aside by Friedman, Student Ness would appreciate the olive branch I extended. It turns out he is even stupider than the rumors suggest."
"So, you gave up your initial plan?" the Wandering Wizard asked with a smile.
"Given up? No, using the word ’given up’ isn’t quite accurate," Sepulano said as he picked up a glass of already mixed absinthe, raising it towards the Wandering Wizard in denial, "I just temporarily changed his ’usefulness.’ Initially, I wanted him to act as a liaison for the members of the little wizard families in the Auspicious Family, but now I think he can have a far broader stage."
"If I were him, I’d rather hide behind the tent than step onto your stage."
"That’s why you are the Wandering Wizard," the Fat Wizard said with a slight compliment: "Outside the school, there is no other Big Wizard who is as kind to students who haven’t graduated as you."
The Wandering Wizard laughed even more joyfully: "I just enjoy chatting with young people... Speaking of which, you are stirring trouble for Jiuyou Academy using that Ness student, you’re not afraid of being hanged and beaten by Old Yao?"
"Ness belongs to Friedman, what does he have to do with me? I merely did what every vice president of the Alpha student council would do."
Sepulano put down his glass, spread his hands openly, and looked innocent: "Besides, isn’t this what Professor Yao wants? To stabilize inside before dealing with outsiders."
Then, he stretched out his stubby index finger and pointed upwards: "Before the trouble from outside comes, let’s uncover and sort out these messy matters inside the school, clean them up, and then welcome the guests."
The Wandering Wizard’s face took on a subtle expression:
"Let Friedman’s people act as the needle that bursts the balloon."
"Some things can be seen but not done... that Friedman boy is about to take a big fall again. This time, Alpha Fortress should have no other choice but to make," the Wandering Wizard said.
"And secretly coordinating with Old Yao’s moves, hehe. At your age, I was nowhere near your level of craftiness."
"As I’ve said before, you are far more astute than you appear."
At this point, he did not hesitate to further compliment the Fat Wizard:
"And that Duke from the Karen Family, who appears sharp, is an actual fool compared to you."
