Chapter 1110: Chapter 172: Astonishing Offer

After hearing Doctor Duzem play Tai Chi, Mouse Immortal did not get angry.

He gazed deeply at the elderly young wizard in front of him and stated directly, "We need a Philosopher’s Stone and the ’Man-made God’ project you completed twenty years ago."

Before Doctor Duzem could speak, Mouse Immortal raised a finger and named their price, "We can pay you everything a Big Wizard has, to repair your broken origin... If you agree to this deal, we can even promise to pay in advance. Ready to pay at any time."

Even though he was fully prepared mentally, Doctor Duzem was still startled by Mouse Immortal’s offer.

Everything a Big Wizard has naturally does not just refer to that Big Wizard’s fortune, knowledge, and secrets, but also includes that Big Wizard’s life, origin, and even soul. It could be said that once Doctor Duzem agreed, at least one Big Wizard’s presence would be completely erased from this world.

Big Wizards are no Ah Mao or Ah Gou. They are the true rulers of the Wizard World. Ordinary Wizards and Registered Wizards focus on practical affairs; high-level Legendary Wizards or ancient witches are more immersed in the journey of the wizarding path. It can be said that Big Wizards are the true controllers of the Mage Alliance and the Wizard World.

People often say that a thousand Registered Wizards might not give rise to a single Big Wizard, and this is not an overstatement. Looking over the entire Wizard World, there are less than a thousand Big Wizards still alive, which includes those who emerged a millennium ago as well as the newly advanced Big Wizards.

And many of these Big Wizards are stationed long-term in the New World or other civilization’s territories, and many have locked themselves in the Wizard Tower for hundreds of years as if one single day.

On regular days, when the Mage Alliance convenes a Big Wizards’ conference, out of a thousand chairs, only about a hundred figures are present.

The birth or demise of any Big Wizard is a major event in the entire Wizard World.

Now, hearing Mouse Immortal’s ’quote’ being ’everything’ of a Big Wizard, Doctor Duzem could not help but be alarmed. Indeed, using another Big Wizard’s origin to heal his own dark injury would enable Duzem to break through his current shackles and reach the realm of a Big Wizard, but such a method of healing would also lock away his future.

It meant his own path forward would stop at the Big Wizard realm, preventing him from advancing further on the wizarding path.

Thinking this, Terri Duzem laughed at himself mockingly and let out a light chuckle,

"Heh... everything of a Big Wizard. Truly tragic."

"Such a grand gesture indeed."

"Yet, I wonder, the ’you’ you mention, who does it include exactly?"

"Naturally, it wouldn’t be the likes of Demons, but we also cannot tell you their identities." Fatty Rui’s face showed a mix of distress and impatience, "If that’s your concern, you really needn’t worry. Or, we can sign an official Silence Contract on this clause alone, witnessed by the Deeps of Starry Sky."

"Second question, how do you know I have what you want here?" Doctor Duzem continued to inquire.

Mouse Immortal’s wrinkled face relaxed, like a blooming chrysanthemum.

"As low-profile as you are, you still knew the school sent someone to visit my humble abode, so what’s so strange about my knowing a little bit more about this town?" Mouse Immortal tilted his head back, squinting as if looking towards the ceiling, "In this school, secrets are everywhere, yet there are no secrets at all. The only difference is whether you know the wizards who keep those secrets."

His answer was already very clear.

Doctor Duzem’s face showed an expression of not being surprised and he nodded.

"The last question," he curled his finger, slowly tapping on the desk in front of him, and the wooden surface echoed a dong dong sound as if a woodpecker was persistently chasing after its food: "My ’Man-made God’ project is not perfect, and it has significant flaws... I wonder if you are aware of the accident from twenty years ago."

"Even so, are you willing to make this trade?"

Mouse Immortal and Fatty Rui simultaneously fell silent.

After a moment, it was Mouse Immortal who spoke, sighing deeply, "It’s better to be safe than sorry. A flawed god is still a god, after all. Let’s hope we never have to activate it."

Doctor Duzem quietly stared at Mouse Immortal on the desk, stopping his finger tapping: "The bigger picture often overshadows minor details. It’s not surprising for someone who once aimed for the Legendary Realm."

"Since you’ve named your price, it is only natural that I name mine... I want a Xuanhuang Fruit. And no new Philosopher’s Stone for you."

Mouse Immortal’s expression changed subtly, and his squinted eyes opened a touch wider, revealing two dark gleams amidst the wrinkles: "I don’t quite understand what you’re saying."

"Isn’t this your true objective?" Doctor Duzem looked at the stout old mouse before him with a hint of sarcasm, "To take the original plans for the ’Man-made God’ from me, create a subpar imitation, and then, in alliance with Demons, break into the Black Prison and snatch those nearly ripe Xuanhuang Fruits."

"We would never cooperate with Demons," Fatty Rui interjected abruptly, emphasizing again.

"Oh, so it’s the Dark Council... What difference does it make?" the Doctor said indifferently, twirling a feather pen between his fingers, "There are only a handful of powers that could interfere. So, what do you say? Shall we make the deal?"

Mouse Immortal stared deeply at the seemingly aged young wizard.

"Just as I said before... you are far more well-informed than you appear." He did not outright refuse the Doctor’s terms.

Anxious, Fatty Rui cast a glance at Mouse Immortal but wisely kept his mouth shut, refraining from interjecting.

"A sky-high asking price to be brought down to earth when making payment," Doctor Duzem said, pulling at the corner of his mouth, fingers picking up a pristine white feather pen on the desk.

Mouse Immortal nodded, "If that’s the case, just one Xuanhuang Fruit will do. But you must provide a Philosopher’s Stone. If we lack a power source, what use do we have for your ’Man-made God’?"

Doctor Duzem spun the feather pen in his fingers like a windmill, its rapid twirling creating a white blur.

He stared at the blur for a long time.

"I can assist with the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone." He finally conceded, "But you will have to provide all the raw materials and reagents. And the trade concerning the ’Philosopher’s Stone’ must be ’tacitly approved’ by the Mage Alliance."

"Deal." Mouse Immortal raised his arm, extending his tiny claw.

"Deal." Doctor Duzem extended his finger, touching the little claw.

A dazzling golden light burst forth where the tips of their fingers met.
