Chapter 1094: Chapter 156: Closing the Shop
"In broad daylight, you actually attacked our shop assistant!"
Equally snapping back to reality, Zhang Ji Xin’s eyes gleamed as he swung his fist and charged forward, at the same time shouting, "Good job, kid, you’ve really got some nerve!"
But it was unclear whether his words were praising Hank the Fox Five or questioning the unaware Arthur Ness.
However, Elder Zhang Da had barely taken a step in his charge when he was stopped by his own team captain.
"Now is not the time to fight!" Zheng Qing grabbed the red-faced male wizard who was charging forward, then he turned back to his companions and rapidly arranged, "Elders and the heavyset one, help gather all the Fishman merchandise in the store, then hand it to Hank; he’ll take it to Greenhill Mansion first... Doctor is in charge of performing ’Anti-Divination Magic,’ clean up the scene! Ding Dang Ears, go behind the bar, find all the official receipts for the sales of Fishman Tribe merchandise!"
The green-vest-wearing mouse didn’t say a word and scurried back behind the bar in a flash.
"We can’t fight now!" Zheng Qing looked into Zhang Ji Xin’s eyes, emphasizing, and, worried he would act on his own, added, "I’m still under a punishment just handed down by the school... You don’t want me to get expelled, do you?"
Zhang Ji Xin’s clenched fist tightened and then relaxed, over and over again, until finally, without being spurred by momentary rage, he just fiercely spat on the ground near Arthur Ness’s feet and turned to dive back into the shop.
Zheng Qing let out a sigh of relief, pulled out a stack of Suppression Symbols, thought for a moment, then put them back and replaced them with his own Colt Silver Python. He then carefully pressed several Suppression Fu Bullets into the magazine, one by one.
If these guys wake up before everything is settled, he’d have no choice but to use a few Confusion Symbols, Suppression Symbols, and the like to plunge their consciousness back into chaos.
The reason he hadn’t immediately applied these safety measures was because he didn’t have much understanding of the magic Hank employed. If he mishandled it and affected the effectiveness of Hank’s magic, it would be counterproductive.
Zheng Qing stood in place, taking a quiet breath, pondering in his mind the excuses he would make in a moment.
Behind him, his companions in DingDing Finance and the pest control shop were bustling about; in front of him, in this corner of the Pedestrian Street, the white-robed troublemakers were still caught in an illusion and couldn’t extricate themselves.
The Wandering Wizard sitting on a small stool across the way, holding a small wine bottle, squinted his eyes and sighed, "Young people these days..."
An Elder Wizard like him, of course, wouldn’t be easily fooled by Hank’s effortless deception.
Zheng Qing paid no attention to the old fellow.
Next door, Mu Mingzi threw a couple of balls of Foggy to obscure the events that had occurred here; on the other side, Crystal Granny rolled a Crystal Ball over to Xiao Xiao.
Zheng Qing gave separate bows of thanks to the two elders.
...
When Arthur Ness regained consciousness, he vaguely felt something was odd.
But this feeling was like waking up from a dream in the morning, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
The white-robed wizard shook his head, refocusing his attention.
In front of him, the captain of the Absolution Hunting Team, the owner of the D&K shop, student Zheng Qing, still looked at him sincerely, as if he hadn’t noticed his brief lapse of concentration:
"You are not prohibited from closing down the shop... But if it turns out that you have wronged a good person and closed down the shop in error, shouldn’t you provide compensation?"
"There is no mistake," Arthur Ness said, waving his hand in slight irritation and raising his voice slightly, "This is the result of Divination personally conducted by a senior executive of the Blood Comrades, there will be no mistakes."
Zheng Qing’s eyes swiveled, and he made an "oh" sound, "Oh, so there are also Blood Comrades among us."
The fog that had accumulated on both sides of the street minutes before had been recollected by Elder Mu Mingzi, and the newly gathered young wizards unaware of the events leading up to this moment only saw white-robed figures apparently in conflict with those in red robes, and it seemed that something concerning the Blood Comrades was involved, immediately piquing their interest.
The Wandering Wizard took a small sip of alcohol, smacking his lips, and looked pityingly at a certain white-robed individual, sighing, "The young people nowadays are getting dumber..."
However, due to the distance, the youngsters standing at the shop entrance did not hear him. Elder Mu Mingzi heard him alright, but merely sneered, glancing sidelong at the Wandering Wizard.
Arthur Ness felt that his patience had been completely exhausted and couldn’t help but step forward once again.
This time, he was very careful not to tread on anything small underfoot. As for why the fox he had stepped on before had disappeared without a trace, Arthur Ness did not care.
Perhaps it had run away in pain after being stepped on. For animals, escaping after experiencing pain is a very common choice.
Zheng Qing once again blocked Arthur Ness’s path.
"You previously stepped on an employee in our shop. You need to compensate!" The young tuition-free student looked at the white-robed figure with a smile that seemed worried he would refuse, and specially added, "That fox was hired from Greenhill Mansion."
Arthur Ness was naturally very clear about who Greenhill Mansion belonged to.
He held his patience, suppressing the rage in his heart, and took out a jade coin from his pocket, casually tossing it to the tuition-free student in front of him, grunting, "Is this alright now?"
Having said that, he reached out, forcefully pushing the male wizard in front of him to the side.
Zheng Qing saw from the corner of his eye that Hank the Fox Five had disappeared at the end of Pedestrian Street, and immediately felt relieved. He casually stepped aside, giving way to Arthur Ness.
A few white-robed figures followed behind Arthur Ness, rushing toward the entrance of the D&K store like a gust of wind. Other members of the Absolution Hunting Team quietly stepped aside on Zheng Qing’s cue.
This retreat prompted a chorus of hisses from the surrounding onlookers.
Zhang Ji Xin’s face turned an angry red as his fingers squeezed audibly. Zheng Qing, along with Xiao Xiao, grabbed his arm, insisting he stand still in his spot.
Standing at the shop entrance, Arthur Ness did not enter but instead glanced inside through the broken door.
"Is there anyone left inside?" He called out.
"No one’s inside, everybody’s out here," Zheng Qing replied from behind him. "No Mice either... Though there are some bugs hiding in sawdust piles, leaving them be for ten days to half a month won’t matter."
Arthur Ness turned his head back, dubious.
He felt that Zheng Qing’s behavior now differed from before, seemingly too cooperative. Yet he could not pinpoint where the discrepancy lay.
Shaking his head to dismiss the unease in his mind, Arthur Ness no longer hesitated, unfolding the red notice he had been clutching for a long while and slapped it onto the door of the small shop.
"Bang!"
A red halo burst forth from the notice, engulfing the entire shop. The red light reflected on Arthur Ness’s face, making him look invigorated.
Zheng Qing watched the unfolding drama with a beaming face, eyes squinted with laughter.
