Chapter 105 - 105 29 The Little Secret of the Boys' Circle_1

105: Chapter 29 The Little Secret of the Boys’ Circle_1 105: Chapter 29 The Little Secret of the Boys’ Circle_1 College students, freshly introduced to freedom, often find themselves addicted to this new thrill.

This manifests in their daily lives, as few quite manage to get out of bed before noon on weekends.

That’s the case in the non-magic world.

And, it’s exactly the same at Wizard University.

Early in the morning, driven by habit, Zheng Qing climbed out of bed to join Xiao Xiao for early lessons at the practice field.

After finishing his morning curriculum, he crawled back to his bed and fell into a sound, rejuvenating sleep.

It was Saturday today, and there was a social gathering in the class this evening.

Based on past experiences, he felt the need to gather some energy in advance.

In the mid-afternoon, the dorm remained tranquil.

The curtains were half-drawn on the balcony, allowing only a faint slit of brilliant sunlight to illuminate the otherwise dim room with its fervor.

This beam of light fell on the desk in the center of the room, transforming into a rectangular illuminated strip.

One end of the strip was adorned with a wilting daisy; the other end covered with a carton blanketed with a towel.

In the middle of the illuminated strip, the fat cat, Tuan Tuan, stretched out its body lengthwise, occupying the remaining area of the sunlit strip without a shred of courtesy.

It squinted its eyes, contentedly purring, its tail twitching rhythmically with the purrs, completely oblivious to the exposure of its intimate parts in the broad daylight.

Of course, there was nobody in the room to take notice of this reckless cat.

Everyone was submerged in their world.

Dylan always hibernated during the day and appeared at night.

In Zheng Qing’s memory, the curtain of Dylan’s six-pillar bed seemed perpetually closed, the occasional sticking out of a head the only indication of an occupant.

Xin, the fat man, was carefree and portly; if it hadn’t been for his roommates pulling him out of bed, he would’ve never made it to class on time on a regular day.

On this Saturday morning, his friends decided to let him sleep in peace, out of sympathy for his regimen.

After receiving punishment tasks from the university labor committee last night with some friends, Zheng Qing had been consumed with an overwhelming dejection.

In this state, plentiful sleep was an effective remedy.

Only Xiao Xiao vanished without a trace after completing his morning work, stating he needed to familiarize himself with the library.

Before leaving, he thoughtfully set an alarm clock in the dormitory to prevent the torpid creatures from oversleeping.

This reminder was a necessity.

Because today, at five in the afternoon, there was a class gathering of Astronomy Class 08-1 at the pedestrian street.

Both the monitors had strictly warned all the freshmen to be right on time and no one was allowed to take leave.

The first year of Jiuyou Academy was divided into four faculties, further separated into four classes: Astronomy Class 08-1, Divination Class 08-1, Magic Potion Class 08-1, Alchemy Class 08-1.

Zheng Qing was in Astronomy Class 08-1.

After a week of familiarization and adjustment, the new students in each class had formed some understanding.

However, as per Old Yao’s view, it was not enough.

This was not yet a family.

Therefore, under the organization of Monitor Tang Dun, on Saturday afternoon, the freshmen of Jiuyou Academy’s Astronomy Class 08-1 decided to host a party.

Initially, this gathering was planned to take place in the classroom.

However, when Tang Dun submitted an application to the school labor committee, he was regretfully informed that all classrooms had been fully booked.

On Wednesday afternoon after philosophy class, Monitor Tang convened a class meeting to discuss the gathering arrangements.

According to his idea, they could host the gathering in a bar at the pedestrian street of Beta Town.

However, this idea faced skepticism from many.

On one hand, many freshmen still bore the restraints of previous life, and were apprehensive of such undisciplined lifestyle centered around drinking.

On the other hand, according to this plan, the cost of the gathering would escalate to an unacceptable level.

As per Tang Dun’s rough estimate, if they held the gathering on the pedestrian street, after splitting the cost, everyone would need to contribute at least one gold bean.

For the more frugal students, one gold bean constituted the budget for a month’s expense.

In the eyes of many, the new monitor’s plan was rather extravagant.

After much noise and dissatisfaction amongst the group of financially challenged young wizards in the classroom, Monitor Tang Dun made a grand gesture by undertaking all the expenses for this gathering.

After which, everyone fell silent.

This affluent behavior brought a feeling of tears welling up in Zheng Qing’s eyes.

So, after a leisurely nap stretching one Saturday afternoon, under the setting sun descending fast, Zheng Qing and Xin sluggishly got up, and toddling along in their school robes, headed towards their journey to Beta Town.

The alarm clock that Xiao Xiao set was a magic chicken.

However, he seemingly overlooked the fat cat Tuan Tuan’s resentment towards this sort of magic.

At four in the afternoon, when the magic chicken broke free from the eggshell, climbed onto the table, preparing to cock-a-doodle-doo with boosted morale, a cat’s paw precisely gripped its neck, choking the crowing sound back into its belly.

For the fat cat, after stuffing itself, the most vital thing was sleeping.

No one could disturb Lord Cat’s siesta.

Not even a rooster’s crow!

“If it wasn’t for my glance at the pocket watch, we’d definitely be late!” Zheng Qing boasted to the fat man beside him.

“Even if you didn’t check the time, we wouldn’t be late,” Xin retorted disdainfully, patting his belly, “The biological clock is here, my belly is not as foolish as that rooster.”

“Should we eat something first?” Zheng Qing suggested hesitantly, glancing at the myriad of tasty snacks lining the pedestrian streets.

It was past four in the afternoon, the last calm before the storm of the evening rush hour.

The staff of the small stores on each side of the street were seizing the time to build up their spirit, prepared to greet the coming wave of customers.

Even the maltose knight and the cane sugar soldier in the candy shop had begun a new round of peace talks.

The setting sun, the scene was peaceful and harmonious.

“Bear with it.” Xin swallowed his saliva, gritted his teeth, and pointed forward, “The dining area is not too far ahead.

Tang Dun mentioned he’s arranged a buffet.

We can directly start eating once we get there.”

“Zheng Qing!

Good afternoon!”

Zheng Qing turned to see a scarlet figure waving at him.

He squinted his eyes.

It’s Elena, the Gypsy witch from his class.

Actually, he had known this witch for a while now.

On the way in the gifted students’ flight, this Gypsy witch had slept all the way, offering him no opportunity to strike up a conversation; when clashes occurred with Arthur and his gang in the pedestrian streets, this Gypsy girl had come and went in a hurry, leaving behind a few casualties and etching a vivid, graceful silhouette in Zheng Qing’s memory.

Later, he found out from Xiao Xiao that the witch had been an exchange student from the First University.

He had assumed that his unrequited affection which had ended before it even began had left him at a dead end, but God, after closing a window for him, opened a new door.

On the third day of the semester, the Gypsy witch had transferred to Astronomy Class 08-1 as a new student.

“Good afternoon!” Zheng Qing waved back, a radiant smile etched on his face.

Beside him, Xin revealed an insinuating smile and prodded his ribcage with his stout elbow.

Zheng Qing’s interest in this new witch had become a well-known secret among the boys in the class now.
