Chapter 618 - Chapter 618 Chapter 618 You Still Resent Our Decision Back
Chapter 618: Chapter 618: You Still Resent Our Decision Back Then! Chapter 618: Chapter 618: You Still Resent Our Decision Back Then! There were countless bodyguards on high alert within the mansion, all of whom were startled upon seeing Li Hanzhou.
Someone quickly came to their senses and immediately ran inside to notify the master of the house.
As Li Hanzhou walked in, he immediately noticed the two people sitting in the living room.
The elderly man, about seventy years old and dressed in a long gown, had a head full of silver hair and eyes that looked both experienced and sharp. Although he was of advanced age, his aura had not diminished.
Upon seeing Li Hanzhou, he snorted, “You still know to come and see us, the two old folks?”
The old lady sitting next to him, dressed in a cheongsam, cast a stern glance at her husband without making a sound and said gently, “It’s rare for our grandson to come back, so you could say less.”
The Elder Mr. Li snorted heavily again but did not say anything more.
Li Hanzhou, with long strides, sat down in front of his grandfather and said casually, “Grandpa, have you been to see Professor Qiao?”
The Elder Mr. Li looked confused for a moment before Li Hanzhou continued, “If you have an issue with Li Nanfeng, come to me, don’t bother her.”
The Elder Mr. Li immediately glared, infuriated, “You’ve come all this way just for this matter?”
Li Hanzhou raised an eyebrow, “Otherwise?”
The Elder Mr. Li’s face darkened immediately, “What if I did?”
Li Hanzhou’s expression became serious, “You still want to let him go? Just like before?”
The Elder Mr. Li’s expression changed, “He is your uncle.”
Li Hanzhou let out a light laugh, “An uncle who wants to harm me?”
“You still blame us for the decision we made back then!”
“I never said that.”
“If you didn’t think that way, why haven’t you come back all these years!”
Li Hanzhou simply said, “Busy.”
The Elder Mr. Li was so angry that his beard bristled and he glared, his heart seething at the sight of his unyielding eldest grandson.
The Elder Mrs. Li quickly tried to smooth things over, “Alright, alright, it’s not often you come back, let’s not argue.”
The Elder Mr. Li shouted, “Am I the one who wants to argue?”
The Elder Mrs. Li glanced over and said, “Shut up.”
The Elder Mr. Li: “…”
“Are you and that Professor Qiao on good terms?” the Elder Mrs. Li asked Li Hanzhou curiously.
This was the first time she had seen Li Hanzhou so devoted to a person.
Thinking of Qiao Yun’s surprised look because of his kiss, Li Hanzhou chuckled lowly, “Very good.”
The Elder Mrs. Li, being savvy, smiled knowingly, “It seems it’s really very good indeed.”
Li Hanzhou didn’t want to talk too much with them about Qiao Yun and changed the subject, “Do you know what Li Nanfeng has done?”
The Elder Li couple shook their heads; obviously, they had no idea what sort of trouble their troublesome youngest son had gotten into.
Li Hanzhou didn’t keep them in the dark and directly told them about the dirty deeds Li Nanfeng had done, omitting the details of the New Life Plan but laying out before them the illegal research he conducted using living people.
Such shocking and horrifying acts left the Elder Li couple stunned for a long time.
The Elder Mr. Li bent his back in defeat, lamenting, “Sinful! Truly sinful!”
The Elder Mrs. Li sighed deeply, “Don’t worry, we won’t interfere in this matter; it was the last time we did that…”
Li Hanzhou nodded, seeing that his goal had been achieved, and did not wish to stay longer. He stood up and said, “I’ll be going back.”
“So soon? Why not stay for the night?” The Elder Mrs. Li was reluctant to see him go.
The Elder Mr. Li became angry again, “Let him go! His presence is bothersome.”
Madam Li sighed helplessly at Li Hanzhou and smiled, “Don’t worry about your grandfather.”
“There’s another thing.”
Li Hanzhou felt quite strange, for not seeing Qiao Yun for ten days to two weeks used to not make him this eager to see her.
“Also, Grandpa, you’re getting too old to keep playing games all the time–it’s bad for your eyes.”
Having said that, he didn’t care about the grumbling Li patriarch behind him and turned to leave.
Old Master Li grimaced, “Look at that attitude!”
“The kid worries about you, and he’s right; you shouldn’t be gaming all the time.” Madam Li said while lifting the mobile phone hidden underneath the newspaper.
On the screen, the game of fighting the landlord was still on.
Having learned of Li Hanzhou’s return, Old Master Li, who was in the midst of a heated game with his card buddies, had quickly hidden his phone to preserve his dignified image.
But, unexpectedly, it was discovered anyway.
Seeing Madam Li about to turn off the phone, he hastily said, “Wait until this round is over.”
“What round? First, tell me what’s this all about with Professor Qiao?”
“How would I know!” Old Master Li huffed, “It must be those people, trying to please me by taking matters into their own hands.”
There were quite a few offshoots in the Li Family, and they couldn’t get close to Li Hanzhou, so they naturally turned to Old Master Li to curry favor.
“If you didn’t know, why didn’t you explain to Zhouzhou that it wasn’t your doing?”
“I’m his grandfather; why should I explain anything to him!”
“You old man, when will you ever change your temper? No wonder Zhouzhou doesn’t want to come back.”
Old Master Li huffed, “If he doesn’t come back, then so be it! He lacks discipline, which is why he doesn’t know the meaning of respecting the old and loving the young.”
Madam Li couldn’t be bothered with him, knowing well that despite his genuine concern and affection for his grandson, he had a sharp tongue that always sparked quarrels with him, and then, unable to win the arguments, would sulk on his own.
“The kid isn’t getting any younger, it’s time we found him a wife to keep him in check.”
“Don’t you worry about that.” Madam Li thought of the look in Li Hanzhou’s eyes when he mentioned Professor Qiao, and she already had an idea.
Old Master Li, unaware of this matter, muttered, “Marrying off soon might temper his disposition, maybe even give us a great-grandson.”
Madam Li: “…”
Old Master Li added, “Given his temperament, it’s going to be hard to find a wife, but luckily I know someone, their little granddaughter…”
Madam Li rolled her eyes, “You don’t need to interfere in this.”
Old Master Li grunted, feeling his status in the family was ever diminishing.
However, the thought of a chubby little baby cooing ‘great-grandpa’ made him chuckle.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt that finding a wife for Li Hanzhou was the right decision. After all, it wasn’t as if he had to marry her, why not meet her to see if they hit it off?
But remembering Li Hanzhou’s temperament, Old Master Li thought this matter would need careful planning to be foolproof.
…
When Qiao Yun was on her way back to Shangjing City, she first visited Qiao Xun in the hospital.
He was doing very well now, except that he still couldn’t move around.
“Are you going back to Shangjing?” Qiao Yun asked Qiao Xun if he wanted to be transferred to a hospital there so she could visit him more often.
After thinking it over, Qiao Xun shook his head, “No, I’ll go back when I’m better.”
“Alright.” Qiao Yun didn’t insist. After sitting for a while longer, she got up to say goodbye.
Only after Qiao Yun had left did Qiao Xun pick up the mobile phone from the nightstand, hesitated for a moment, and then made a call.
“Son, is something the matter?” came the hearty voice of Qiao Se from the other end.
