Chapter 565 - Chapter 565 Chapter 565 Inspection
Chapter 565: Chapter 565 Inspection Chapter 565: Chapter 565 Inspection Qiao Yun could feel that Li Hanzhou was excessively good to her.
But she had few close friends, so she always thought that was how friends interacted with each other, and didn’t see any issue with it.
Looking at Qiao Yun’s bewildered eyes, Li Hanzhou said, “Qiao Yun, this is a question you need to answer yourself, I can’t give you the answer.”
He wouldn’t mislead Qiao Yun; what he needed was for her to understand on her own.
To understand this different kind of emotion.
Qiao Yun was completely confused, feeling unable to sort it out.
What kind of liking was he talking about?
Until they reached Qiaose Research Institute, Qiao Yun still hadn’t figured it out.
Li Hanzhou didn’t rush her, seeing her rare troubled look actually brightened his mood a bit.
Qiao Se had been waiting for them already.
Upon seeing them arrive, he first sized up Qiao Yun, “Is your cold better?”
Qiao Yun said, “It’s better.”
“Take better care of yourself, don’t worry Second Grandpa,” Qiao Se said with affection.
Qiao Yun nodded her head, “Second Grandpa, don’t worry.”
Qiao Se smiled and turned his head to look at Li Hanzhou, whose presence was intensely imposing.
“Mr. Li, follow me.”
Li Hanzhou raised an eyebrow, “Alright.”
“Xiaoqiao, you wait for us in the office,” Qiao Se told Qiao Yun to rest a while in the office.
Qiao Yun had originally wanted to follow them, but then thought better of it.
Worried that her excessive concern would make Li Hanzhou find it strange.
This time Qiao Se had not planned to let others get involved in the checkup; he personally handled every item.
The equipment at Qiaose Research Institute was different from the outside, which was why Qiao Yun chose to come here.
Li Hanzhou was very cooperative throughout, but his eyes didn’t seem to be saying the same…
Finally, unable to bear being stared at any longer, Qiao Se sighed, “Mr. Li seems to have something he wants to ask me?”
Li Hanzhou spoke indifferently, “If I ask, will Mr. Qiao tell me?”
Qiao Se responded expressionlessly, “Of course, I won’t.”
Li Hanzhou chuckled, “So, is there any difference if I ask or not?”
Qiao Se thought to himself, then you shouldn’t keep staring at me.
Alas, I can’t handle being frightened like this at my age.
The checkup was quite complicated and took quite a long time.
After checking Li Hanzhou from top to bottom, Qiao Se indicated that he could leave and that the reports would be sent directly to his email once available.
Li Hanzhou slowly straightened out his disheveled shirt, then suddenly said to the old man with graying hair, who was organizing the data.
“Something happened between me and the kid, but I don’t remember it, right?”
Qiao Se’s hand shook, and he stuttered, “What are you, what are you talking about?”
Li Hanzhou watched his expression and scoffed, “Nothing.”
He did not press on with the questions, because he knew that even if he asked, he wouldn’t get an answer.
His words weren’t just spoken on a whim; recently, this feeling was getting stronger, and even without any memory, he trusted his intuition.
Thinking of this, he irritatedly furrowed his brows.
…
Qiao Yun lounged on the sofa in Qiao Se’s office, waiting for them to finish the check-up.
She took out her phone and frowned slightly, and after a long while she put the phone down with a deflated sigh.
It didn’t seem right to ask others about this kind of question.
She pondered the different kind of liking that Li Hanzhou talked about.
Could there really be a different kind of liking among friends?
As Qiao Yun mulled over this, she unknowingly fell asleep.
When Li Hanzhou returned, what he found was a sleeping beauty.
He walked in quietly, sat down on the sofa next to her, and his deep eyes took in Qiao Yun’s sleeping face with interest.
It felt like no amount of looking was ever enough.
After gazing for a while, he took out his cellphone to handle some matters.
The office was dead quiet, with only the sound of their breathing.
After some time, Qiao Yun opened her eyes.
The first thing she saw was the man with long lashes, looking at his cellphone.
She blinked vigorously, and after confirming it wasn’t a hallucination, sat up from the couch with a soft voice, “Is the examination over?”
Li Hanzhou put down his cellphone, “It’s over.”
Qiao Yun felt a little better for some reason, like a weight had finally been lifted from her heart. She asked, “Shall we go back?”
Without saying much, Li Hanzhou was indeed ready to take Qiao Yun back. He had some things he needed to think about, and Qiao Yun would distract him.
Qiao Se sent them off from the institute with a cheerful demeanor, and on the way, they ran into Qiao Xun coming out of the laboratory.
Qiao Xun looked surprised, then said, “Qiaoqiao, are you leaving?”
Qiao Yun replied, “I am leaving.”
“Then we’ll have to meet next time. Take care on your way,” Qiao Xun said with a gentle voice, his gaze lingering on Li Hanzhou for a few seconds longer before he said, “I’ll trouble Mr. Li to take Qiaoqiao back.”
“Of course,” Li Hanzhou responded casually.
Qiao Xun looked at Li Hanzhou a few seconds more, then turned his attention back to Qiao Yun, “Alright, uncle needs to get busy.”
“Uncle, goodbye.”
Qiao Yun said her goodbyes politely.
Qiao Xun watched their retreating figures, his eyes slightly dimming before he turned to leave.
He made his way unhindered, straight to Qiao Se’s office.
After entering, he first pulled a medical book from the shelf, then moved to the computer that was already on.
He logged into the institute’s system with his access rights.
At last, he found a report that had just been transmitted back.
Qiao Xun’s lips curled up ever so slightly, showing a silent smile.
After seeing Qiao Yun off, Qiao Se massaged his forehead tiredly; indeed, age was showing. Just helping someone with an examination had made him feel drained.
He put on his reading glasses and hurried to his office, eager to review the data report.
As soon as he opened the door, he ran into Qiao Xun coming out.
Qiao Se paused, asking curiously, “Son, did you need something from me?”
Without changing his expression, Qiao Xun said, “I just came for a book, and I’ve found it.”
Qiao Se, not suspecting anything, asked, “Do you need another book?”
“No, thanks,” Qiao Xun smiled, “Dad, I’m going to leave now. Do you need me to take you home later?”
“No need, I’ll have the driver come for me.”
“Alright.”
Qiao Xun grasped the cellphone in his lab coat pocket, showing concern, “Dad, don’t overwork yourself.”
“Okay, okay, stop nagging. I got it,” Qiao Se waved him off.
With that, Qiao Xun stopped talking and left at a leisurely pace.
…
On their way back, the atmosphere turned very quiet.
Both were deep in thought.
Li Hanzhou was recalling the dreams he had. Having had them so often, he was beginning to have trouble distinguishing between dreams and reality. Now, he felt confident that the child in his dreams was real.
As for Qiao Yun, well, she was still contemplating the ‘concept of liking’ someone.
“What kind of ‘liking’ is yours?”
When Qiao Yun got out of the car, she said bluntly, “I can’t figure it out.”
Li Hanzhou replied with a smile, “Child, if you can’t figure it out, then take your time to think about it.”
He didn’t give her an answer.
Qiao Yun just made an “oh” sound, turned around with an expressionless face, and left without even saying goodbye.
Li Hanzhou was startled for a moment but then couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Was she angry?
