Chapter 220: This Is Why We Don’t Inject Strangers
The villain locked inside the Hero Association containment twitched violently.
His body jerked forward in the chair.
His skin shifted—bones snapping, muscles bulging unnaturally.
Fur spread along his arms. His teeth elongated into sharp fangs.
His scream turned into a deep growl.
Blazren narrowed his eyes.
He stepped forward, fire already flickering along his arm.
Neuro moved quicker.
"Skybrand. Finish it," he ordered.
Skybrand didn’t hesitate.
Wings burst from her back as she activated [Skybrand Shift].
Her body launched upward, vanishing in a blink of wind.
In the same second, she used [Skyline Execution].
She reappeared behind the half-mutated villain midair, blades drawn.
One clean slash tore through the neck.
The villain dropped, dead, before his body hit the floor.
Blazren stared at the corpse, eyes still locked on it.
Smoke coiled off his arms—he had been seconds away from striking.
Neuro turned to him. "What were you about to do?"
Blazren frowned. "Kill him. He mutated. He was dangerous."
Neuro’s voice stayed flat. "Thankfully, I gave the command."
Blazren’s jaw tensed. "What’s that supposed to mean?"
"If you had done it," Neuro said, "his entire body would’ve been burned. Useless for study."
He turned to Skybrand. "Take it to my lab. I want the remains intact."
Skybrand nodded, sheathed her blades, and lifted the corpse over her shoulder with practised ease.
Her wings vanished as she walked out.
Blazren opened his mouth to speak, but Neuro raised a hand.
"Don’t. Save the lecture for your recruits."
Blazren folded his arms, still watching the blood smear on the floor.
Neuro turned toward his console.
"From this result, I can say it clearly. The serum used... it’s theirs. Beastkin Brood."
Blazren didn’t argue. "Scavratt said the success rate was low."
Neuro nodded. "Exactly. That’s the part that doesn’t add up."
Blazren stepped closer.
"You’re saying this one mutated and awakened a class?"
"Yes," Neuro said.
"I knew it the moment the serum activated. My machine picked it up instantly."
He brought up a display screen. A red profile appeared.
"Class: [Feral Beastkin]," Neuro said.
Blazren’s brow furrowed. "That’s real?"
"Yes. The lowest class among beastkin. Weak on paper. But wild. Unstable."
"If left alone, it becomes a threat to allies and enemies alike."
Blazren nodded slowly. "That explains the way he moved... no control."
Neuro continued. "But it worked. The transformation happened fast. No signs of rejection. Which means..."
Blazren completed it. "The serum was stable."
"Correct," Neuro said.
"That’s the part that bothers me. Scavratt said the success rate was below five percent."
"But this one turned in seconds. No side failure. That’s not a coincidence."
Blazren looked toward the hallway Skybrand had gone down.
"So what now?"
Neuro turned to face him fully.
"I want to research it. I only have one vial left. I’ll break it down piece by piece."
He paused.
"Until then, old man, do what you do best. Check their hideouts again."
Blazren raised an eyebrow. "You’re giving orders now?"
Neuro ignored him. "Tell the others to be careful."
"If this serum works better than we thought, it won’t be long before Beastkin Brood unleashes more of them."
"And this time... they won’t need luck."
Blazren stared for a moment, then turned and walked away.
"Fine," he said.
"But if I see another one mutate, I’m not waiting on your command."
Neuro watched him leave. His visor glowed again.
"I wouldn’t expect anything less."

Zain stood at the highest platform of the Heavenly Demon Sect base, arms folded, eyes locked on the city skyline.
Velra stood a step behind him, one hand resting on her hip, the other holding her comm device.
She smiled. "Master. I’ve done what you ordered."
Zain tilted his head slightly, waiting.
"I placed the two briefcases," Velra continued.
"One in a ruined Beastkin site. The other in a location marked by the Association’s scouts. Both were picked up."
Zain smirked. "So, they took the bait."
Velra nodded. "Not just the Hero Association."
"Someone else found the second case. I couldn’t confirm it."
"But from the clean and controlled movement, I felt that it was someone from the Beastkin Brood."
Zain let out a short breath. "Good."
He glanced over his shoulder, eyes narrowing slightly.
"Blazren told me more than he realized. Just a short talk was enough."
"I didn’t expect that black wolfman to be someone important," Zain said.
"Didn’t think he’d be the leader of a whole villain group."
Velra crossed her arms.
"Yeah. Beastkin Brood... never thought Blazren would spill that."
"Especially not to you, considering you just became an AA-Rank hero."
Zain smirked. "I was the first one to congratulate him."
"Maybe that made him drop his guard. Maybe he liked hearing it from someone who didn’t treat him like a tool."
He paused.
"But it doesn’t matter."
He turned around, fully facing her now.
His crimson eyes locked onto hers, glowing brighter.
"This time," he said.
"I’ll destroy Drask. I’ll tear down his entire brood."
He raised his hand slowly. His fingers curled into a tight fist.
"He’ll be my last meal before we move to the A-Zone."
Velra’s smile widened. "Your sister..."
Zain nodded once. "Zelia. I’ll bring her back myself."
He walked past Velra and stopped near the edge of the platform.
"What about the girls?" he asked.
Velra followed, stopping beside him.
"Since we no longer need them to collect corpses, I moved them into full-time training."
"All of them?"
"Yes," Velra said.
"Every girl in the sect has awakened a class. Some weak, some unstable—but they’re learning fast."
"I personally taught the first three squads."
"The rest are being rotated through combat drills and aura suppression training."
Zain smiled. "I see. Good."
He looked up at the darkening sky.
"Tell them," he said quietly. "A war is near."
Velra turned, calling up her comm device again. "Understood."
Zain stood there a moment longer, eyes sharp.
"Beastkin Brood. Hero Association. Doesn’t matter," he muttered.
"They’re all pieces on the board."
He turned back toward the inner sanctum of the base.
"And I’m flipping it soon."
