Chapter 199: Velvet Demon’s Coming to Town
Zain walked into the AA-rank hall, the place buzzing with quiet voices and the hum of screens.
He looked worn out, his steps heavy.
He approached the robot, standing near the entrance.
"Sporelord was too strong. I only managed to defeat the Sporeguard."
He reached into his bag and pulled out the eye of the Sporeguard.
He placed it in the robot’s hand.
The robot’s screen flickered.
"Don’t worry. You are still new to the AA-rank, Heavenly Demon."
"Sporeguard is also an AA-rank monster."
"It’s quite impressive you managed to hunt it."
Zain gave a weak smile.
"I see. Thanks."
He stood a little straighter, but inside, he was calm and collected.
He didn’t want anyone to suspect his true strength.
Or even linked him to the Heavenly Demon Sect.
He tilted his head slightly.
"By the way, where are Neuro and Skybrand?"
The robot processed for a moment.
"They are currently hunting the Heavenly Demon Sect girls."
"I heard they set up a trap to catch them."
Zain’s face stayed calm, but a small smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"A trap, huh? Interesting."
He leaned against the wall, thinking for a moment.
"Did they say where they set the trap?"
The robot’s eyes blinked.
"No specific location given. Classified by the Hero Association."
Zain nodded slowly. "Figures."
He folded his arms, looking at the screen behind the robot.
"So, they think they can just trap the girls like that?"
The robot remained silent, only the soft whir of its systems filling the air.
Zain chuckled softly.
"Let’s see how that works out for them."
He pushed himself off the wall, stretching his arms.
"I guess I’ll have to watch from a distance."
He looked at the robot and tapped the screen lightly.
"Change my mission to the Sporeguard hunt."
The robot beeped once, its screen blinking.
"Mission accepted. Sporeguard eye received."
"Reward points have been added to your account."
Zain nodded. "Good."
He walked away from the robot, his steps steady.
He passed a few heroes on his way out, each one glancing at him but saying nothing.
He paused near the exit, turning his head slightly.
"Neuro and Skybrand think they’re clever."
"But they have no idea what they’re dealing with."
A smirk spread across his lips.
"Let them play their game. I’ll play mine."
He stepped out of the hall, the door closing behind him.
Zain felt a rush of energy, his body stronger than ever.
"Time to see what they’re really up to."
He disappeared into the shadows, ready for whatever came next.
---
Zain walked through the gates of the Heavenly Demon Sect, his steps slow and steady.
He could see the girls scattered across the training grounds.
Some were practicing punches and kicks, others were working on controlling their ether.
The air smelled of sweat and determination.
He watched them for a moment.
"They’ve already learned how to control their power, huh?"
He noticed Velra standing near the center, her stance confident and her movements sharp.
Her eyes were focused, but there was a smile on her lips.
"Thanks to the virtual war, they’ve grown so fast," Zain thought.
He crossed his arms and watched them for a while, his eyes sharp.
Then he called out.
"Velvet Demon, it’s time for you to test your new power."
Velra turned her head, her long hair moving like a whip.
"Yes, Master."
Zain smirked.
"You go alone. Let the others train their new power. Prove yourself."
Velra’s smile grew.
"I will make sure to bring you fresh corpses."
She turned and walked away, her heels clicking against the stone.
The other girls watched her, some with awe, others with envy.
She moved like she owned the place.
Zain’s grin widened.
"Let’s watch the show, shall we?"
He turned and walked behind her, his steps quiet but sure.
"Neuro, I wonder if you’ve counted on Velra’s evolution in your plan."
He watched as Velra left the training grounds and headed for the gate.
The guards stepped back as she passed, their heads low.
Zain stayed in the shadows, watching her every move.
---
Neuro stood in the trap area, his eyes scanning the small, dark alley.
His machine was humming, the screen blinking with a faint light.
He heard footsteps coming.
Two figures moved into view, shadows in the dim light.
Skybrand tilted her head, her eyes sharp."Are they Heavenly Demon Sect girls?"
Neuro looked at the screen again.
"Not sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s them. It’s been a long time since we put this bait here."
"This area isn’t too crowded, so it makes sense they’d come."
Skybrand smirked, her eyes narrowing.
"I see. If you say it like that, they must be from the Heavenly Demon Sect."
She spread her arms slightly, the wind picking up around her.
She closed her eyes for a moment, focusing.
[Skybrand Shift]
Wings burst from her back, glowing with a faint light.
She rose into the sky, wings spread wide.
Neuro looked at his machine, then at the street.
"They should be coming in about ten minutes."
Skybrand floated above him, her hair shifting in the wind.
"Make sure this time you finish them off."
Neuro nodded once, his eyes steady.
"Don’t worry. This time, there won’t be any mistakes."
Skybrand’s wings glowed a little brighter.
"They’ve slipped through our fingers before. Not again."
Neuro turned his head slightly.
"Don’t let them escape."
"They’re not just some random group anymore."
Skybrand narrowed her eyes, her grip on her sword tightening.
"I know. They think they can fight anyone. I’ll show them they’re wrong."
Neuro’s screen beeped softly, a red light blinking.
"They’re getting closer. Stay ready."
Skybrand floated higher, her wings spread wide, her sword drawn.
"They won’t leave this place alive."
Neuro watched the street, the shadows shifting as the wind blew.
"I hope Velvet Demon is with them."
Skybrand’s eyes flashed.
"If she’s here, she’s mine."
Neuro looked at his screen again.
"She’s the key. Bring her down, and the rest will fall apart."
Skybrand smiled.
"I’ll make sure she regrets ever joining that sect."
Neuro’s machine beeped again.
"Five minutes..."
"They’re almost here."
Skybrand rose higher, the sky around her darkening.
"I’m ready."
Neuro crossed his arms, his gaze fixed on the screen.
"This is the end for them."
The street stayed quiet, the trap set, the machine humming. Both waited, the air heavy with tension.
