Zain clenched his fists as the Sporeguards closed in.

They moved like shadows, silent and fast.

Each one raised its claws, black-green venom dripping from the tips.

He stared at them, sweat dripping from his forehead.

"[Venom Claws], huh? This might be fun."

The first Sporeguard lunged at him, its claw slashing through the air.

Zain dodged, but another one came from the side, catching him across the ribs.

Blood oozed out.

Zain hissed. "Nice hit. But you’ll pay for that."

He swung his fist at the nearest one, but the Sporeguard ducked and another one jumped in.

It slashed his leg, venom seeping into the wound.

Zain staggered back, his vision blurring.

Two more Sporeguards moved in, their claws shining with venom.

Zain’s head snapped up. "You’re working together now? That’s new."

The Sporeguards circled him, their steps in perfect rhythm.

Zain clenched his teeth. "So that’s [Tandem Strike]."

The five Sporeguards lunged at the same time.

Zain dodged the first, but the second clawed at his shoulder.

He grabbed its wrist and twisted, but the third kicked him in the gut.

Zain stumbled, his knees hitting the ground.

Blood dripped from his shoulder and leg.

"Damn it. These things are coordinated."

Another Sporeguard charged, its claws slicing at his chest.

He tried to block, but the force knocked him back.

He slammed into the wall, the impact rattling his bones.

He gasped for breath, the world spinning. "Can’t... keep up..."

The Sporeguards closed in, their eyes glowing with cold light.

Zain glared at them. "You think you’ve got me? I’m not done yet."

He tried to stand, but his leg gave out.

A Sporeguard lunged, its claws digging into his side.

He cried out in pain, his vision blurring even more.

The Sporeguards didn’t stop. They pressed forward, their claws raised.

Zain’s heart pounded. "This is bad."

His breath came in ragged gasps. "Damn it... I need to think..."

He glanced at the Sporeguards closing in, their claws dripping with venom.

Then his eyes flashed. "Wait a minute..."

He smirked. "Got it."

Up above, Skybrand watched him, arms crossed, her wings spread.

"He’s truly stupid," she thought.

"Sporeguards are AA-rank monsters. He’s a new AA-rank hero."

"He dares fight them alone? He really wants to die."

She shook her head. "What a fool."

Then she frowned as she saw Zain moving.

His eyes were sharp now, no longer confused.

Zain’s [Heavenly Demon Ether] burned brighter, coating his leg.

He crouched, muscles tensing, energy gathering.

Then he kicked one of the Sporeguards, sending it flying.

But it wasn’t a random kick.

He kicked it straight toward the sky.

Not at any random direction... but to Skybrand’s direction.

Skybrand’s eyes widened.

"Damn it!" She flapped her wings, dodging fast.

The Sporeguard tumbled in the air, its eye glowing as it realized there was another presence above.

Skybrand clenched her teeth. "Troublesome."

She flew backward, her wings pulling her higher.

She didn’t want to fight the Sporeguard now.

It’s not that she can’t fight but she didn’t want Zain to find out she’d been watching him.

Sporeguards were also more dangerous in groups.

Before leaving, Skybrand watched Zain from the sky.

"It seems that this guy is not connected to the Heavenly Demon Sect after all."

She shook her head. "This guy was too stupid and too weak."

She turned her back and flew away.

"Let’s just leave," she thought.

Down below, Zain smirked.

"Now that she is gone, I can be more serious."

He clenched his fists, feeling the energy build.

He activated [Heavenly Demon Body].

His wounds began to close, his muscles tightened.

Every injury made him stronger. The pain vanished as the ether healed him.

He laughed. "Time to kill you all."

He rushed forward, [Heavenly Demon Ether] coating his fists.

He swung at the first Sporeguard, his punch sinking into its chest.

The monster staggered, green fluid pouring from the wound.

Zain grinned. "Come on!"

Another Sporeguard slashed at him with its claw.

The blade cut deep into his shoulder. Zain didn’t flinch.

He grabbed the monster’s arm, his ether pouring into its body.

The Sporeguard’s eye widened.

Its bones cracked from the inside as the ether corroded it.

"That’s it," Zain whispered. "Break from within."

A third Sporeguard lunged, claws glowing with venom.

It swung down hard, cutting across Zain’s chest. Blood sprayed.

Zain roared with laughter. "Good! Keep hitting me!"

His ether flared brighter. His wounds closed faster, his power stronger.

He punched back, his fist cracking the Sporeguard’s skull.

The monster collapsed.

The last two Sporeguards charged together, their claws glowing.

They moved as one, [Tandem Strike] activating.

Zain braced himself.

They struck at the same time, claws crossing his arms and chest.

Zain stumbled, blood dripping down his arms.

His eyes burned. "You think that can stop me?"

His ether swirled around his arms, like black flames. "Now it’s my turn."

He lunged at the first Sporeguard, ducking under its swipe and driving his palm into its chest.

The ether poured in, eating it from the inside.

The Sporeguard trembled, its eye cracking.

The other Sporeguard swung at Zain’s head.

Zain let it hit him, his neck snapping to the side.

He turned back, grinning, his neck cracking as it reset.

"Too slow."

He grabbed the Sporeguard’s head and poured his ether into it.

The monster screamed, green veins bursting as it fell apart.

Zain stood alone now, the ground littered with broken bones and green fluid.

His chest heaved, his body still glowing with ether.

He wiped the blood from his mouth. "You were good practice," he said.

"But not good enough."

He tilted his head, eyes sharp, his grin widening.

"Now, let’s go deeper."

He stepped forward, his steps echoing on the broken floor.

The factory loomed ahead, shadows dancing in the corners.

"Sporelord," he called out.

"You’re going to be a really good practice for me."

He cracked his neck, his ether flaring.

"I hope you’re better than these measly guards."
