Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem -
Chapter 187: System Doesn’t Do Discounts
Chapter 187: System Doesn’t Do Discounts
Zain stood in the empty hall.
The last of the corpses had already been absorbed by his system.
He looked down at the glowing screen in front of him, reading his current Hack Points balance.
[Hack Points: 10,225,180]
He crossed his arms, deep in thought.
"Let’s see...," he said.
He now had two active abilities and two passive traits.
That was decent, but he needed more to reach the next level.
He took a deep breath.
"System," he called out.
"How much does it cost to add one more trait or one more ability?"
A bright light flickered on the screen.
---
[System Update: Ability and Trait Installation Protocol]
[Adding Additional Passive Traits]
[Cost: 5,000,000 to 20,000,000 Hack Points (based on trait strength)]
[Adding Additional Active Abilities]
[Cost: 5,000,000 to 20,000,000 Hack Points (based on ability strength)]
[Note: Costs scale with ability potency and synergy with existing powers.]
[Status: Ready for Installation Requests]
---
Zain’s eyes widened.
"What the fuck? Five million at the base? So expensive!"
He gritted his teeth.
"What about editing? Is that cheaper?"
The screen shifted again.
---
[System Update: Ability and Trait Editing Protocol]
[Editing Existing Passive Traits or Active Abilities]
[Cost: 5,000,000 to 20,000,000 Hack Points (based on the extent of the edit and the power of the ability or trait)]
[Note: Edits include modifying effects, improving potency, or adjusting compatibility.]
[Status: Ready for Editing Requests]
---
Zain frowned, staring at the screen.
"Damn it. Expensive too," he said.
He grumbled to himself, pacing in the hall.
"For ten million I could get a new class with three abilities and two passive traits," he muttered.
He crossed his arms.
"But still, adding a new ability or trait makes me stronger."
"I can’t just ignore that."
He sighed.
"But it hurts to see how expensive it is."
He shook his head.
"Let’s see what kind of ability I want," he said.
He thought for a moment.
"Now, my [Heavenly Demon Ether] works passively," he said to himself.
"It changes every particle of energy that enters my body into [Heavenly Demon Ether]."
He paused, letting the thought sink in.
"I also use energy breathing that works on all energy, even this harsh air," he continued.
"But still, its effect is really weak."
"Maybe because it’s not an ability or a trait, just a basic technique."
He frowned.
"Wait a minute," he said.
"Can I make energy breathing into an active ability?"
He clenched his fist, eyes sharp.
"Will it be stronger when it becomes an ability? Let’s find out."
He clenched his fist.
"System. Hack if it costs lower than ten million, then do it."
The screen glowed brightly.
---
[Hack Initiation: Ability Acquisition & System Upgrade]
[Target: Zain]
[Ability Acquired: Heavenly Demon Breathing]
[Effect: Draws in all types of energy as fuel. Instant conversion with Heavenly Demon Ether.]
[System Upgrade: Heavenly Demon Sect]
[Effect: Loyal slaves gain all Heavenly Demon Class abilities and passives (except Heavenly Demon Slaves/Sect). Rebels lose all power and collapse.]
[Cost: 9,999,999 Hack Points]
[Status: Executing...]
---
Zain stared at the screen, his eyes wide.
"Fuck," he said.
"It costed 9,999,999 Hack Points."
He clenched his teeth.
"Damn. The system is playing with me," he muttered.
He crossed his arms and sighed.
"But still... I’m surprised that my other ability got upgraded too," he said.
He was thinking about the [Heavenly Demon Sect] upgrade.
He paced.
"It seems that to make it better, in case I get another ability in the future."
He paused and scratched his head.
"System. How come it costs so much every time I try to add or edit something?"
---
[System Update: Hack Points Costs scale with the strength, synergy, and compatibility of the requested ability or trait. Potent abilities cost more.]
---
Zain frowned.
"So you’re telling me the stronger I get, the more I have to pay just to get stronger again?"
---
[System Update: Correct. As your power grows, so do the costs of upgrades. This is to maintain system balance and challenge.]
---
Zain’s eyes narrowed.
"Challenge? More like a money pit," he muttered.
He shook his head. "But fine. It’s worth it."
He looked up at the screen.
"So now I’ve got [Heavenly Demon Breathing]."
"It’s active now, right?"
---
[System Update: Correct. Ability is now active and can be toggled on or off. It can also be used to absorb concentrated energy sources in combat.]
---
Zain smirked. "Good. That’s going to be fun."
He paced again. "System. Remind me."
"How many Hack Points do I have left?"
[Hack Points Remaining: 225,181]
Zain’s mouth twisted into a grin.
"Barely anything left. But that’s fine," he said.
"Every drop of energy counts."
He stared at the screen. "System."
"Next time, warn me if I’m about to use all my points," he said.
[System Update: Acknowledged. Warning protocol has been set.]
Zain nodded. "Good."
He clenched his fist.
"No matter how expensive, I’ll keep going."
He turned away. "Now let’s mark those women first."
---
Velra stood at the front of the hall.
She had gathered all thirty girls and lined them up.
Each one was silent, heads bowed.
Zain stepped forward, scanning the girls.
"You already know what’s about to happen, right?"
The girls nodded, some of them trembling slightly.
"Yes, Master."
Zain smirked. "Good."
He raised his hand and bit his finger until a drop of blood formed.
He walked to the first girl and pressed his finger to her forehead, leaving a red mark that glowed with dark energy.
He did the same to the second, then the third.
One by one, he marked each girl, his [Heavenly Demon Ether] draining at an alarming rate.
His body trembled as his energy reserves dropped.
"Damn," Zain muttered. "It’s draining faster than I thought."
He clenched his fists and activated his new ability, the [Heavenly Demon Breathing].
He breathed in deeply, pulling energy from the air around him.
A rush of power filled him, his strength returning.
"Good," Zain said, a smirk forming on his lips.
"It really worked."
He shook his head slightly, pleased.
"Luckily, I hacked that ability before coming here."
He turned back to the line of girls, his finger still glowing with dark energy.
He kept marking each one, breathing in deeply between every mark.
