Chapter 688: Chapter 490: Moon Goddess Cynthia (Chapter 2 Delivered)_2

The ground fire was burning, cracking and popping, and occasionally one could see a cluster of sparks burst forth, floating into the air and gradually dissipating.

Next to the fire, Angelica, Helois, and Iyeta were preparing dinner, while Antasia sat on the other side, her petite hands circling her knees, a look of worry on her fair little face.

Antia, with her petite frame, had her arms crossed over her chest, leaning against a large tree.

Even though they had left the Imperial City, a comfort zone, under the circumstances of the Hero’s depleted strength, this place was not the territory of Demons but still full of danger. Yet, it appeared that no one was aware of this peril, completely oblivious to the tense and oppressive atmosphere around them.

Completely unguarded.

"Antasia, you don’t need to worry too much," Qin Chu, noting Antasia’s anxiety, said comfortingly as he held a stick and gently prodded the ground fire: "There won’t be any problems."

"We might be slightly delayed today, but we will soon reach the Ice Duchy directly, which will be dozens of times faster than you returning alone by carriage."

Antasia sighed helplessly, aware of the numerous troubles Qin Chu also faced.

She could feel the oppressive air, permeated with the unique stench of Demons.

By now, the campsite must have already been surrounded by Demons, and more kept approaching continuously. These Demons were merely wary of each other, with none taking the initiative to strike first, but this delicate balance couldn’t last for too long.

Those were the creatures that sought to assassinate Qin Chu. He wouldn’t be at ease leaving Oville until all these Demons were eliminated, and for this purpose, he’d rather serve as bait himself.

She understood this, yet she couldn’t help but worry.

However, if it was Qin Chu, he would surely manage... Antasia believed in this, having stayed by his side for a long time. In all the years she had been with him, Qin Chu had never failed at anything he set out to do; he would surely resolve the troubles in the Ice Duchy.

Gradually, Qin Chu’s gaze fell on Angelica. Accidentally meeting her eyes, he smiled slightly and waved her over. Dressed in a cute maid costume, Angelica quickly set down what she was doing and hastened to Qin Chu’s side: "Master, do you have any instructions?"

Qin Chu’s gaze was fixated on the familiar little Maid before him; he wanted to know who was lurking in the deepest recesses of Angelica’s consciousness.

His right hand rose to caress Angelica’s fair cheek: "Who are you, really?"

Angelica was taken aback: "Master, what are you saying?"

Qin Chu shook his head: "I’m not talking to you; I’m talking to the entity that resides in the deepest part of your soul."

Angelica’s small face suddenly turned pale; was her body truly being eroded?

"Don’t worry, although there indeed is an uninvited guest in your Soul World, it seems that this entity has no intent to harm you," Qin Chu reassured her.

After a brief pause, Qin Chu’s voice became grave once more: "If possible, I would like to communicate with you face to face. Since you have not harmed Angelica, I won’t crush your soul outright."

"You should be well aware that I know of your existence; even if you hide well within Angelica’s Soul World, I can eventually drag you out. You can’t hide forever."

Angelica remained blank, feeling nothing at all.

Qin Chu wasn’t in a hurry; he had plenty of patience to wait.

But, if the mysterious presence within Angelica’s soul continued to ignore him, Qin Chu might not guarantee that he wouldn’t do something drastic. Even if she was hiding deep within Angelica’s Soul World, he would dig three feet into the ground if necessary to find her.

He wouldn’t allow such a ticking time bomb to remain within Angelica before confirming its identity and threat level.

Perhaps sensing that Qin Chu would not let the matter rest this time, the presence hiding inside Angelica finally stirred.

A vast expanse of lucent moonlight enveloped Angelica, making her appear like a Goddess descended amidst the moonlight, her pale skin beginning to emit a hazy, jade-like soft luster.

This strange transformation attracted the attention of the other girls; even Antia, with her deep blue eyes, curiously focused on Angelica.

Angelica was feeling even more panicky about the reaction her body was having, and in her fear, she looked towards Qin Chu in front of her. When her master was present, Angelica, the petite maid, would instinctively seek his help whenever she encountered difficulties.

Qin Chu, for his part, wasn’t worried. He simply sat there, quietly waiting.

The moonlight enveloping Angelica grew brighter and brighter, as though all the light within a vast area had converged upon her. Just when the moonlight reached its peak, it suddenly contracted.

A graceful silhouette slowly emerged in front of Angelica.

From the curves of the silhouette alone, it was clear that this must be a beautiful and elegant Goddess.

The outline became clearer and clearer, to the point where one could glimpse the scene of the hem of a dress fluttering in the night breeze.

In an instant, everyone’s gaze was fixed on this silhouette that had appeared so suddenly. Angelica’s mouth hung open slightly, her face a picture of surprise.

The adorable little Maid could never have imagined that such a being would suddenly appear atop her own body.

Time ticked away in this atmosphere of silent astonishment. Although Qin Chu did not know which God had appeared on Angelica, he could clearly feel that the presence of this God was exceedingly weak.

Her form took an incredibly long time to coalesce.

After several minutes had passed, a figure that seemed like a ghost, barely visible, finally appeared.

Behind her, hair as white as frost fluttered gently, and she was dressed in a plain white gown. Beneath the gown should have been a pair of shapely, elegant legs, but unfortunately, the Goddess’s presence was so feeble, she lacked the strength to fully materialize her form; the area below her calves was completely blank.

But those eyes shone like the full moon in the sky.

Her fair cheeks were dreamlike and beautiful, surpassing the charm of the several women around her.

Cold as frost, fair as the moon.

Perhaps only the Gods above could possess such beauty.

Even as just a translucent specter, she already exuded an allure that was in no way inferior to Great and Small Shaye or even the Holy Light Goddess.

Her long eyelashes still quivered slightly.

Even Qin Chu, who had faced countless trials, felt a brief moment of stupefaction at this instant.

A few more seconds later, the mysterious Goddess’s bright eyes finally started to focus. She did not first turn her attention to Angelica, to whom she was attached. Instead, her gaze fixed on Qin Chu, "Forcing me to appear, are you not afraid of being discovered by those ugly things around us?"

Her voice sounded like droplets of water from a spring, carrying a melody that was enchanting and seductive.

Qin Chu cracked a slight smile, stood up, and bowed toward the mysterious figure, showing ample respect.

He despised the people of the Sky Dome Continent, but these Gods deserved his respect.

"They’re just little bugs after all, no need to pay them any mind."

He did not care that this scene might be witnessed by the Demons around them. Even if they saw it, it would be of no use. The moment those Demons entered this area, they would be unable to leave.

Qin Chu paused briefly before speaking again, "I have yet to learn the name of the Goddess."

Seeing that Qin Chu didn’t seem to have any intention of completely shattering her Residual Soul, the Goddess finally relaxed a little,

"Moon Goddess... Cynthia!"
