Chapter 513: Chapter 356: The Dead Witch (5)
Shaye’s figure solidified as she gazed at the massive heart overhead and the huge cavity within it.
Her delicate brows furrowed tightly together, as if pondering something, and it was a long while before she turned to Qin Chu:
"Shall we begin?"
Qin Chu knew exactly what Shaye meant. She was asking whether they should start extracting the fresh blood from the heart, collecting and purifying it to absorb as energy.
After all, the heart was far too large.
It wouldn’t even fit in the storage ring.
Honestly, even if it were stored in the storage ring, Qin Chu might still worry about the heart causing some trouble.
After all, the thing looked too weird, and a minor oversight might invite huge trouble. Hence, collecting some blood and then leaving seemed to be the safest approach.
But at this moment, Qin Chu shook his head, a response that somewhat surprised Shaye. She didn’t think that Qin Chu was the type of man to lose his sanity due to greed, to the point where he might even risk his own life in the end.
Qin Chu was trying hard to control his breathing, calming the impulses and fear within his chest. After a long time, Qin Chu finally managed to lift his feet again and walked towards the back of the heart from the side.
Although Antia and Shaye didn’t understand what Qin Chu intended to do, they exchanged glances and still followed behind him, even the Little Tree Seedling, with its slightly yellowing leaves, shakily followed.
It was not quite accustomed to walking with roots.
Because the heart was so large, the distance to walk around half of it measured quite long. Qin Chu felt a bit regretful; had he known, he would have come down from another direction.
But now, he was too lazy to start over.
After another lengthy period, Qin Chu, Antia, Shaye, and the Little Tree Seedling finally rounded half of the heart and moved to the rear of the heart.
The sight behind the heart made everyone tense, their gazes straightened.
Even the Little Tree Seedling froze in place, motionless.
What had they seen...
Right behind the heart, a woman was kneeling abruptly.
Perhaps because the giant heart was too eye-catching, they had completely failed to notice her before.
The woman was slender, clad in a black gauzy garment, which somewhat revealed her pale skin beneath.
She knelt there behind the heart, worshipping toward the heart, her head slightly bowed, hands clasped over her chest as if praying.
Although her face was unclear, from her posture and skin, she appeared to be a beauty.
She had been kneeling and worshipping here for an unknown length of time, and although Qin Chu, Antia, and the others didn’t hide their presence, the woman seemed completely oblivious to them, maintaining her posture, unmoving.
At a glance, one might even think she was just an ordinary, pretty girl.
But, how could anyone ordinary be explained near such a weird heart?
Shaye’s expression turned very strange, and after a long time, she seemed to finally remember something, her tone even carrying some uncertainty, "The Gluttonous Witch?"
One of the many witches Shaye knew.
Moreover, she was one of the stronger ones. Shaye had once said that the Gluttonous Witch had killed the Sea Witch and stolen her powers.
Qin Chu was startled, and Antia’s expression changed drastically too. The Long Spear appeared in her palm, and she was already prepared for battle.
This mysterious woman, kneeling there, was the Gluttonous Witch?
What was she doing here?
Most importantly, all the so-called witches seemed to have emerged because, after the Godly War a thousand years ago, the Gods had fallen and their Authorities had scattered among the mortals.
Those who inherited the powers of the Gods became witches, wielding the Divine Authority. A witch in possession of such power should loathe something like the Evil God’s Heart, right? Why then would she be worshipping it?
Could it be that this heart wasn’t the Evil God’s Heart? Or was there something wrong with the Gluttonous Witch herself?
It felt like there was something wrong with this whole situation, as if he was missing something very important.
No... that’s not right.
One didn’t necessarily need to inherit a God’s power to become a witch.
Shaye was an example; she was a witch by birth and hadn’t inherited any fallen God’s Authority.
What made Qin Chu feel even weirder was the intense desire he felt coming from the Gluttonous Witch.
On the Gluttonous Witch’s person, there seemed to be a strong allure, calling to Qin Chu to possess it.
His throat slightly convulsed, Qin Chu moved a bit closer. The Gluttonous Witch remained unresponsive, kneeling there, and Qin Chu had initially thought it was due to the oppressive aura around that made him unable to sense properly.
But getting closer confirmed it for him.
No breathing, no heartbeat.
And wasn’t the Gluttonous Witch a bit too thin? In his imagination, the Gluttonous Witch should be of a very large build, as befits her name.
Qin Chu’s brows were tightly furrowed, his energies fully awakened as he approached the Gluttonous Witch, yet the woman still showed no signs of movement.
After a brief hesitation, Qin Chu reached out and gently patted the Gluttonous Witch’s emaciated shoulder.
The next second.
The entire sculpture-like body suddenly turned into fine flowing sand, scattering across the ground.
Qin Chu’s heart trembled for a moment.
The mighty Gluttonous Witch, one of the most powerful beings in the entire Sky Dome Continent, had turned to sand and died here? For a moment, Qin Chu even found it hard to accept.
Just as the body of the Gluttonous Witch had dissolved, a deep azure and a dark black light emerged from the sand.
The moment Qin Chu saw these two streaks of light, his heart couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably—it was these two things... These were what Qin Chu had been longing for.
Especially that trace of black luster.
Divine Authority!
He had seen it before with the Fiery Flame Witch, this very thing was the Divine Authority.
The black one seemed to be the Gluttonous Authority that the Gluttonous Witch herself wielded, while the deep azure one appeared to be the Water God Authority that the Gluttonous Witch had seized after killing the Sea Witch.
This situation filled Qin Chu with doubts: why was it like this?
When the Fire God Authority and the Storm Authority were presented to him by Phil and Violet, Qin Chu felt nothing and even outright refused them.
But at this very moment, for these two Authorities... no, to be precise, for the black Gluttonous Authority among them, he felt an intense desire.
This attraction was even stronger than his own heart behind him.
Qin Chu’s doubts became more and more intense, stronger and stronger.
From the appearance of the Gluttonous Witch just before her death, she didn’t seem to verge on madness like Violet and Phil; she seemed to have maintained her sanity all along, merely considering this place her final resting place.
How long had she been dead here?
And why had she died?
Witches are reputed to have nearly endless lifespans.
Not only Qin Chu, but even Shaye looked surprised and even a bit sorrowful; although their relationship wasn’t good, they were still fellow witches, and it was naturally disheartening to see the Gluttonous Witch die like this.
Although filled with doubts, after some thought, Qin Chu ultimately reached out his right hand.
The Gluttonous Authority seemingly responded to some call, bouncing up from the ground and directly landing in Qin Chu’s palm, immediately merging into his body.
Only after the Gluttonous Authority fused with his body did Qin Chu astonishingly discover that it was not merely an Authority.
The Authority also contained a trace very similar to the Desire Sin Divinity he had previously devoured from the statue of the Lord of Pleasure.
This was the Gluttony Divinity.
The Desire Sin Divinity curled up like it had encountered its natural enemy, keeping far away from the black Gluttony Divinity, with no intention of absorbing it to strengthen itself.
Contrarily, the black Gluttony Divinity kept wriggling in Qin Chu’s mental space, seemingly wanting to approach the Desire Sin Divinity and devour it in one gulp.
It was Qin Chu’s consciousness that stepped in to prevent the Desire Sin Divinity from being consumed as food.
It appeared that the Gluttony Divinity would accept control by Qin Chu’s consciousness, but still covetously eyed the Desire Sin Divinity.
The poor Desire Sin Divinity could only curl up into a ball in Qin Chu’s mental space, shivering intensely.
Phil, as the Fiery Flame Witch, wielded the Flame Authority, and Violet, as the Storm Witch, held the Storm Authority.
But they only wielded Authorities; they had no Divinity themselves.
Even Ireta, the Daughter of Death fulfilling the duties of the Death God, had never wielded Divinity.
Why was the Gluttonous Witch an exception? Or was there something special about this Gluttonous Authority?
After Qin Chu gained the Gluttonous Authority and the Gluttony Divinity, another ability emerged on his panel.
Gluttonous Authority—Hungry? You can consume everything in this world.
Authority Special Ability: Hungry Movements—Everything you swallow can be converted into your energy. Go and fight, indulge in devouring everything.
Another ambiguous introduction.
But from the words "gluttonous," it was easy to understand the function of this Authority.
After a brief hesitation, Qin Chu looked at the Water God Authority on the ground. With a wave of his hand, the Water God Authority flew towards Antia, seemingly asking if she wanted it.
After absorbing the Gluttonous Authority, that intense craving disappeared.
But Antia simply shook her head lightly.
She wasn’t interested in the Water God Authority; she preferred to fight using the chains and Long Spear on her body.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Qin Chu, Little Tree Seedling was hopping and jumping on the ground, desperately swaying its branches and leaves to catch Qin Chu’s attention.
Its appearance seemed to say, "I want it if she doesn’t, give it to me, give it to me ..."
Unfortunately, Qin Chu glanced at Little Tree Seedling, quite dissatisfied with this insatiable little creature. It had already snatched the most experience from him, and now it was even eyeing the Divine Authority—such greed was unlike anything he’d seen before.
Look at the Goddess’s hair, although it also resided within him sponging off experience, she was never this greedy.
Qin Chu internally complained, then under the eager watch of Little Tree Seedling, directly absorbed the Water God Authority into his body as well.
What remained was this heart; how should he deal with it?
