Chapter 135: Chapter 106 Can You Go on a Date with Me (1)
What I feared has come to pass.
Rose Vesper had grown tired of trying to teach the fool Karthas a lesson; she felt utterly drained, believing that words were useless on such an idiot.
She just wanted to get rid of the heads quickly, praying that Qin Chu wouldn’t see them.
And then, Qin Chu appeared.
At once, Rose’s heart sank mercilessly.
Qin Chu himself was taken aback by the sight before him; he had only killed Benson, and when he left, only Benson was there. How had so many more shown up all of a sudden?
Catherine’s eyes also widened in shock at the pile of heads, noticing the headgear: "Holy Knights?"
Qin Chu’s heart quivered sharply.
Goodness, he had left behind two marks, never really expecting anyone to believe him—after all, such a method of framing others was terribly crude. Qin Chu just wanted to stir the waters even murkier.
But he hadn’t expected these people to act so fiercely, going so far as to kill so many Holy Knights for a sacrifice?
Surely, Rose Vesper wouldn’t be that foolish?
It seemed like it must have been the work of that armored man standing beside her...
Death Knight, Karthas.
This man wasn’t initially on Qin Chu’s list of immediate targets but, unexpectedly, he’d presented himself, a pleasant surprise indeed.
Qin Chu appeared shocked, eyes wide and mouth agape—exactly the expression one would expect at such a moment, but that was enough...
"You, you actually killed so many Holy Knights?" Qin Chu strained his voice, sounding terrified, his acting skills seemingly improving by the moment.
Rose Vesper felt like crying; she was incredibly unlucky.
But now was not the time for tears. Desperately waving her hands, she tried to explain, "No, no, Mr. Brave, you’ve misunderstood. We didn’t do this, it was... Luo Meng, yes, it was Luo Meng’s doing."
Qin Chu’s expression darkened, "Holy Daughter Rose Vesper, you have deceived me..."
"I never thought someone as pure and honorable as you would speak a lie."
"Luo Meng is a demon; why would he kindly arrange a sacrificial altar and offerings for those he killed?"
"Furthermore, I can feel it, the same aura is upon these heads, the aura of the Holy Knights he killed..." Qin Chu abruptly pointed towards Karthas, shouting sternly.
"These men were exceptional Holy Knights. They braved the bitter cold and dangers on the frontier, combating demons. Yet, they did not fall to demons but died at the hands of a member of the Hero Team; they met with a most undeserved fate."
Qin Chu spoke with righteous indignation, loudly condemning the murder of the Holy Knights, his anger evident.
Meanwhile, he was nearly unable to keep his smile from curling up—the situation was certainly a prime opportunity to entrap Karthas.
For a moment, Rose Vesper had no way to refute.
Only Karthas, beneath his helmet, saw his eyes turn redder, his murderous intent growing stronger.
Qin Chu... This man was the root of all disasters.
Had it not been for his insistence on becoming the Second Generation Brave Warrior, Benson wouldn’t have had to rush back to the Imperial City; he wouldn’t have died, and Karthas wouldn’t have had to kill so many Holy Knights.
In the simple and violent mind of Karthas, other than Qin Chu being the sole source of all troubles, he had no other thoughts.
And now, this very man had discovered that he had killed so many Holy Knights...
Kill him, kill him, kill him...
It was only when Jie Luo was around that anyone could restrain Karthas. After Jie Luo’s death, once Karthas ran amok, nobody could control him, just as Rose Vesper feared; all her words were quickly thrown behind by the raging Karthas.
Feeling the surge of energy beside her, Rose Vesper’s face turned pale instantly. She wanted to stop it, but it was already too late.
There was a loud bang, and Karthas’s body instantly shot forward like a dark meteor. The sharp spearhead, propelled by a black stream of air, thrust towards Qin Chu’s chest.
If he could just kill Qin Chu, all problems would be solved.
His speed was incredibly fast.
Catherine’s expression shifted, and she was about to react when Qin Chu stopped her with a glance.
On the other side, Violet stepped forward, her towering figure completely shielding Qin Chu; even as her target changed, Karthas showed no hesitation in his movement.
To Karthas, the lives of others, aside from Jie Luo and his teammates, were worthless.
Far from stopping, he moved even faster.
With a thrum, the spearhead suddenly was right before Violet, just about to pierce her abdomen when, in that moment, Violet extended her right hand and firmly caught the spearhead in her palm.
Thrum!
A violent gust spread out.
Karthas’s body came to an abrupt halt, while Violet didn’t even sway.
Violet suddenly smiled at Karthas, then with one hand on the Long Spear, she whisked the other end, sending Karthas spinning into the air, followed by a swift downward motion of her arm.
There was a loud thud as Karthas’s body slammed into the ground before her, creating a deep crater and throwing dust into the air, an utterly pitiful sight.
In truth, Karthas need not have been so disgraceful.
On one hand, it was because Violet’s strength was truly formidable. Previously, Antia’s long spear had been grabbed by Violet, and Karthas might not be stronger than Antia.
On the other hand, it was also because of Karthas’s carelessness.
This disgrace infuriated Karthas exceptionally. His robust body, clad in heavy armor, writhed on the ground; he could not tolerate such humiliation. Just as he tried to rise, Violet’s figure had already appeared before him. She lifted a foot and directly kicked Karthas’s face, sending his body into a seven-hundred-and-twenty-degree spin in mid-air before he crashed onto the ground like a toad once again with a plop.
He even tried to lift his head, but Violet stomped directly on the back of his skull, making Karthas’s face kiss the earth.
Half of his head was buried in the mud.
Violet was about to stomp a couple more times but was stopped by Qin Chu. After all, this was a member of the Hero Team. Having been overpowered by Violet without a chance to retaliate, wouldn’t it be a bit too pitiful? Moreover, it wouldn’t do to kill this man straight away in front of Rose Vesper.
Looking at Violet, who returned to his side with a triumphant air, Qin Chu was somewhat curious, "Are you very strong?"
"Of course, after all, I was a Holy Daughter a thousand years ago," Violet replied with a cheerful smile.
It always felt as if she had become more lively.
But, a Holy Daughter?
Was that the behavior of a Holy Daughter just now? Shouldn’t Holy Daughters be all about prayers, magic, and the like? You’re purely a fighter, aren’t you?
Also, hadn’t you inherited the Authority of the Lord of Storm? Does this Authority simply make you more irascible when fighting?
Rose Vesper was also startled by this scene. She hadn’t expected the woman following by Qin Chu’s side to be so powerful. Karthas was almost completely unable to fight back. Who exactly was this woman?
Karthas struggled to his feet from the ground, his crimson eyes filled with venom as he glared at Qin Chu and Violet. His helmet had fallen off, revealing a handsome face, befitting a noble young master. If his mind hadn’t gone awry, he would probably have been quite popular with women.
Seeing Karthas still itching for a fight, Rose Vesper quickly stepped forward to press down on Karthas’s shoulder, signaling him to calm down.
Now was not the time to act rashly. Rose Vesper believed that if a fight really broke out and she joined forces with Karthas and Catherine, even if this mysterious tall woman was strong, she would definitely lose, and both she and Qin Chu would die here.
But...
Qin Chu could not die.
It was her and Catherine who had brought Qin Chu out. If Qin Chu died, they would face severe punishment, consequences they could not bear.
"I am very sorry..." Rose Vesper curtsied to Qin Chu, lifting the hem of her skirt. Now, all she could do was pray for Qin Chu’s forgiveness, hoping to use her charm to keep him quiet about this incident.
"Mr. Brave, I am really sorry. This is Karthas, a member of our Hero Team, the Death Knight. He didn’t mean to attack you; it’s just that the news of Benson’s death was too much for him to bear, causing him to lose control somewhat. He and Benson were the best of friends."
"Benson is dead?" Qin Chu sighed in resignation: "In the end, we still arrived too late."
"It’s not your responsibility, Mr. Brave. It was all Luo Meng’s doing," Rose Vesper said, stepping closer to Qin Chu, reducing the distance between them.
Ignoring Violet beside her, she took Qin Chu’s palms and held them in her hands, placing them against her chest.
Looking upward at Qin Chu, she pleaded, "Mr. Brave, could you please pretend that you didn’t see anything today?"
"If this matter gets exposed, Karsas will face severe punishment. We’ve already lost Benson; we can’t afford to lose Karsas too."
Qin Chu appeared somewhat embarrassed, trying but failing to pull his hand away, and hesitated, "But, if he isn’t punished, these people would have died in vain. I am a Hero, an ally of justice, and I cannot condone such an evil thing happening before me."
Rose Vesper noticed Qin Chu’s hesitation and quickly said, "But, if this incident comes to light, it might well lead to a civil war among humans. Then we’ll be even more incapable of combating the Demons, and more people will die. Surely, you don’t want to see the Sky Dome Continent run red with blood, do you?"
Rose Vesper even resorted to using Spirit Magic, guidance.
As Qin Chu hadn’t studied Magic and the strong woman beside them knew nothing about it either, no one should have noticed.
"I know this goes against the justice you hold dear, but this is not a lie; it is to save more lives, for the whole Sky Dome Continent."
Rose Vesper gently shook Qin Chu’s hand, rubbing it against her chest, her voice was seductive and captivating, "Mr. Brave, please."
Under Rose Vesper’s onslaught and Spiritual Guidance, Qin Chu seemed persuaded, "Alright, Your Highness the Holy Daughter, for your sake, I agree. I, Qin Chu, swear not to speak of this matter..."
Having received Qin Chu’s affirmative response, Rose Vesper felt slightly relieved, yet she couldn’t be certain that Qin Chu would remain silent. The anxiety of placing hope in someone else’s hands was unbearable for Rose Vesper.
But this was the best outcome under the circumstances, even Rose Vesper could not do more.
She let go of Qin Chu’s hand and stepped back, wiping her own hand surreptitiously where she thought Qin Chu couldn’t see.
Rose Vesper cast a serious glance at Catherine, clearly signaling her to keep a close watch on Qin Chu, and should he attempt to disclose the matter, she was to stop him.
Catherine simply nodded in silence.
Rose Vesper felt somewhat more at ease, with Catherine watching over things, there likely wouldn’t be a problem.
Just then, Qin Chu’s voice unexpectedly broke the silence:
"By the way, Miss Rose Vesper, could we go on a date after we return to the Imperial City?"
Qin Chu made his request.
Rose Vesper’s face beamed with a tender smile, "Of course, Mr. Brave, it would be my honor."
Her cheeks were flushed, seemingly excited, and perhaps also embarrassed at bringing up a date request in front of so many people.
Inside, she was continuously cursing, this despicable bastard, thinking that by holding Karsas’s leverage, he could blackmail her into dating him?
He’s truly a filthy creature.
But, he’s obviously still lusting after her body!
