Chapter 226 - Chapter 226 226. House Building Plan_1
Chapter 226: 226. House Building Plan_1 Chapter 226: 226. House Building Plan_1 Everyone raved about the midday meal, and they all agreed that Qiaoqiao’s natural talent surpassed Seventh Uncle’s by a mile–their very first attempt at cooking was already far better than their teacher’s…
Seventh Uncle was all smiles as he listened, but as the praises continued, he began to feel that something was off, until finally, he pulled a long face–
“Stop praising, stop praising. Any more and they won’t know where to float off to–Is it really about their cooking skills? Haven’t you seen the level at which your family’s bok choy is grown? Are they even comparable to those bamboo shoots from before?”
That was indeed true.
Song Sancheng savagely scooped up a spoonful of bok choy and potatoes, poured it over his rice, and ate with big mouthfuls, couldn’t be happier!
“Our Tantan really has a knack for farming; look at this taste of bok choy, how wonderful it is!”
Then he directed Qiaoqiao, “Qiaoqiao, next time add a few more dried chili peppers to this dish. The chili peppers are lacking in flavor!”
Was it really that the chili peppers lacked flavor?
Clearly, it was because, in the shadow of the bok choy, the other ingredients felt somewhat less impressive.
Song Tan laughed, “Once the bok choy is finished, we’ll plant some chili peppers and save more for ourselves to eat.”
Song Sancheng wasn’t addicted to spicy food, but this vegetable soup, it really needed a bit of spiciness to go with rice.
After some thought, he asked again, “Didn’t you originally plan to continue planting bok choy? Now you want to switch to chili peppers?”
Song Tan made the decision on the spot.
“Bok choy grows quickly, but we can’t eat it at every meal. After this batch, we’ll keep some for ourselves and plant more chili peppers. Let’s take advantage of the fact that these vegetables aren’t mature yet and hurry up to build the house.”
Now, the pressure was on Zhao Fangyuan.
The once dashing designer, whose cheeks seemed rounder these days, silently took another bite of rice under everyone’s watchful eyes, then sighed reluctantly:
“I’ll have the blueprints ready by today.”
These blueprints weren’t just for the villa’s visual renderings but included elevation drawings, detail enlargement drawings, node diagrams, and even the distribution of electricity and water supply.
The specific details depended on Zhao Fangyuan’s expertise, as well as communication with the construction team later on.
She meekly swallowed the rice in her mouth and then humbly asked, “Do you need me to help supervise the construction as well?”
Song Tan smiled, “Will it cost money?”
Zhao Fangyuan: …
This cursed farm owner, raking in the money hand over fist, yet so stingy; was getting a bite to eat ever easy for her?
“No need for money, just provide meals.”
Zhao Fangyuan said firmly.
Song Tan quickly offered her another serving of vegetables with the chopsticks, “Honey, you know the drill! For the later stages of interior design, let’s not bother the second master, shall we?”
Zhao Fangyuan huffed, swiftly succumbing: “Don’t worry, it’s all included.”
A truly practical, beautiful, and comfortable country villa was a challenge for her as well!
For the moment, however, Zhao Fangyuan had a suggestion:
“When it’s time to demolish and rebuild this place, where will you live?”
Song Youde had it figured out, “Before building the house, we’ll tidy up my side of the dwelling; by that time, we’ll all move over to my place.”
For Song Tan’s family of four, plus Teacher Xin Jun, living together wouldn’t be too much pressure for country folk, as they primarily needed a large courtyard.
Conveniently, every household in the village had a big courtyard.
“Hang in there for a while, everything will be fine once the house is built.”
Seventh Uncle did some calculations, “Right now it’s mid-April. From what I’ve heard about your house plans, they’re quite extensive. Even if we hire a big construction crew, it’s going to take at least two to three months, right?”
“Moving in around July or August, oh, it’s going to be so hot then!”
“That won’t be the case.”
Zhao Fangyuan said seriously, “With enough manpower and machinery, the efficiency of house construction is completely different from before. We can get the foundation and main framework up in one month; spend another month on the details and finish up the whole thing. By early July at the latest, we’ll be able to move in.”
As she spoke, she stopped eating and went back to her room to get her tablet. Then she showed it to Song Tan:
“Look, we’ve discussed the layout and overall design before, and this general structure shouldn’t change. I’ll provide you with several extra drafts for the corresponding furniture and all during the construction period, so you can choose. If possible, we can go ahead and order the furniture.”
“That way, we can air out the house and furniture at the same time. Plus, our original plan was to use eco-friendly materials, so moving in comfortably and healthily at the beginning of July won’t be a problem.”
Since the decision to build had been made, Song Tan wasn’t particularly worried about a delay of ten days to a half month.
She thought for a moment, “Then please take another look at my grandparents’ house and see how it can be remodeled.”
After all, it was originally just an adobe house–sturdy for sure, but possibly a bit inconvenient to live in.
It would be perfect if it could be slightly remodeled to make it comfortable for them to stay in temporarily.
“I understand,” Zhao Fangyuan winked at her, “You mean the bathroom and shower, right?”
“I understand too,” Song Tan sighed wistfully, “It’s going to cost a lot of money, isn’t it?”
Zhao Fangyuan nodded, “After all, if you’re not in a hurry and want to build a villa leisurely, you could just hire a construction team and have the villagers help with the rest.”
It’s normal for a villa to take half a year to build quickly, or a year if slow.
“But your family is so busy now. I think, you’ll definitely need a construction team, and the villagers can at most assist.”
Song Tan understood this and just sighed wistfully, “If that’s the case, why wait? Let’s sell the cabbage tomorrow.”
First, make some money to book a construction crew.
After the cabbage harvest, plant the chili peppers; once the chili peppers are planted, get ready to build the house; as soon as the house’s foundation and framework are done, the cucumbers will come to market.
Then come the eggplants, tomatoes, cowpeas, rice…
Looking at the current growth of the rice, it should be harvestable by the end of June; then we must hurry to burn the straw and plow the fields before sowing the second season.
By then, the watermelons will be ready for market in large quantities, followed by Eagle Beak Peach, then soybeans, corn, and chestnuts.
We can’t forget about the Tremella and Auricularia in the woods, either.
When planned like this, the schedule is very tight.
But fortunately, none of these tasks are particularly skill-demanding. Just like we did at the start of spring, we can pay the villagers to work.
It will be busy, but not chaotic, and that’s pretty good.
Plus, with the produce maturing in stages, it conveniently covers the entire period of house construction. With the watermelons and Eagle Beak Peach, there’s no need to worry about the final payment for the house.
Thinking about it this way, Song Tan suddenly felt at ease.
It’s just a big villa after all, so build it! And build it well!
But the online store really needs to start operating. Otherwise, when things get busy, Song Tan can’t guarantee she’ll be able to sell vegetables by driving to the market every day.
And her few acres of vegetable land are somewhat problematic–look for wholesale customers, and she couldn’t keep up with the supply.
Sell them individually, and she’d be dragging out the timeline, not to mention going to the vegetable market would be time-consuming and a hassle.
