Chapter 44: Kitsunes!

After much pleasantries have being exchanged and the cake’s been split and eaten, everyone set to work.

Marcy and the Omegas were in the kitchen preparing the scrumptious feast for the pack tonight while Naomi was assigned to decorate the ceremony venue.

Her heart swelled when her new friends opted to help her before they got ready for the party. Jephthah, John, Talia, Nancy, Brittany, Royce were all present to help her decorate the venue.

Dora backed out because she wanted to head to the spa with her mother and Aunt Stacey before getting ready.

Everyone had their duties assigned to them.

Daniel and Barton got the task of surveying the areas for rogues. It was an important ceremony today so it wasn’t going to be a surprise if they decided to attack such a crowd of people who would gather at the ceremony.

Barton parked his pick-up truck just as Daniel stepped out from some bushed, dusting something off his shoulders.

"The area’s clear. Did you find anything on your side?" Daniel asked.

"No. We just have one more place to check."

He began driving and Daniel felt uncomfortable with the silent treatment Barton gave him. it seemed that he hadn’t forgiven him for what he had done last night.

He just sighed and said nothing else.

They bypassed several people who were all dressed and already heading to the party venue.

He stared at them all and panic swelled in his heart when he realized that HE was going to rule these people and make decisions concerning both trivial and important matters of the pack.

"What’s wrong?" Barton asked when he felt him stiffen.

Daniel just shook his head and looked away from the venue outisde.

"Nothing." He mumbled.

Soon, Barton stayed back in the car while Daniel stpped down to check out the deep east wing of the pack.

He cursed as he rolled down an unexpected hill and broke his fall on a tree stump.

Cursing some more, he got up and brushed the sand off his hair.

Suddenly, something hit from no where and as soon as he fell to the ground, another force hit him to the left not letting him regain compusure from the first hit.

He was quick to roll off the ground after the second hit and stood, poised and ready to face whatever that suddenly attacked him.

He had one hand fisted before his face and the other fisted Infront of his chest. One leg was brought forth while the other held back his weight from behind.

His posture suddenly crumbled when he saw two Kitsunes floating about the sky with smouldering smirks on their faces.

Their uncountable tails swished behind them, black manna visible around their body.

Their hair was colored red and blue respectfully but he recognized the other as the one Naomi met the first day he saw a Kitsune.

"You’ve got some nerves coming into my pack." He forced himself to say, feeling a pang of pain in his chest.

The cackled deviously but one finally said, her familiar eyes boring holes into his.

"We’ve not come to cause trouble now. We’ve only come for the girl and won’t hesitate to eliminate anyone who would get in our way ..."

He became confused as first but suddenly squeezed his fists at his sides as asked,

"Why do you want her?!"

"I don’t think you’re in the position to ask that question, Alpha." She said mockingly.

"I suggest you fly back to your territory and avoid getting hurt." Daniel calmly said.

"And who’s going to hurt us? You?"

"Who else?"

"Alpha, I can tell you 1000 ways I could kill you without touching you. Spare yourself the trouble and run along now. We’ll have no problem finding her ourselves."

"No! I will not let you touch her!!!"

He advanced forward and as if they predicted he’d shift, one of them swished her tails and they formed a huge fireball at the tip which flew In his direction.

Before Daniel could quickly move out of the way, it hit him on the stomach and he went flying hard in some bushes which broke his fall and catapulted him back to fall onto his face on the ground.

He groaned in pain and as his vision blurred from the fall, he sees two figures floating towards his pack in the air, away from sight.

Suddenly, bushed rustled and he looked up to see Barton. The stricken look on his face was visible enough as he rushed towards him.

"What the F**k happened!!!"

He didn’t hesitate to help his cousin up and Daniel groaned in pain as he led him towards the car.

The smouldering pain in his stomach was unbearable and the whole vehicle smelled of burnt flesh as Barton helped him in.

Daniel quickly lay his head against the head rest of the car seat and sighed a heavy sigh, his chest rising and falling as he fought unconsciousness.

Barton stared in horror at the black hole on his shirt, revealing a more smouldering black flehsy wound on his stomach.

"Kitsunes," Daniel suddenly said, grinding his teeth and bearing the pain as he forced himself to say. "They’re here..."

"What?!"

"I encountered them just now and they’re here for Naomi. She’s in danger!"

Barton frowned, shaking his head as if dismissing the ravaging thought in his mind.

"You’re joking right?"

Daniel grunted as he forced himself to sit up, only to fall back against his seat almost crying loud in pain. You could almost hear the sizzling pain from the flesh on his stomach as it slowly healed.

"Daniel!!!" Barton could hear the sizzling sound. He had never been so scared in his life.

"Bart. They’re coming after Naomi." Danile forced himself to say, grabbing onto Barton’s arms as if grabbing for his dear life.

"H..how do you know that?"

"I recountered two of them and I recognized one of them as....the impostor..."

Barton nodded as if encouraging him to not stop talking so he wouldn’t drift off into unconsciousness.

"The one who impersonated Talia?"

Daniel nodded, eyes shutting tight as more flesh began sizzling on his stomach.

"She called a name the first time they met. I heard it well. I think she called her Fioana? Yes, Fiona. They said they were here for her. I think they’ve been looking for her for a while now and..."

"What do they want with her. Why are they suddenly coming out of the shadows"
