Chapter 41: If you weren’t a girl... I swear

Everyone exchanged glances in confusion.

Brittany just sighed and dropped her head against Royce’s chest in a bid to catch some extra sleep. Royce placed his head on hers and began sleeping as well.

Marcy and Stacey smiled at each other at the sweet scene and Daniel happened to lock eyes with Marcy who inclined their head to where the couples stood in an embrace. When he turned, Dora who was standing next to him didn’t even cross his mind. It was someone else.

Talia smiled when she saw the cute boy lying still in bed, the blankets covered up to his chin. His mass of brown curly hair fell over his face and his small lips were parted open as he slept.

"Jepthaph..." She coyly whispered as she throdded towards his bed carefully as if she was going to disturb a monster who was in hibernation.

Soon, she was sitting beside him on the bed. She starts shaking him but he didn’t even move an eyebrow and slept somberly.

"Hard to believe you’re this stubborn about waking up...you’re so cute" She couldn’t help but reach out for his face when she suddenly saw a colorful paper just at the side of his bed. She leaned forward to reach out, ignorant of the fact that she straddled the poor boy as she got the paper.

When her hand grabbed the paper, she settled on him, not realizing where she had actually sat. Infact nothing really mattered to her but the beautiful half finished sketch...of her?!

It was so beautiful...her smile when she threw her head backwards into the sunlight just captured her genuine and liveable character.

When had he taken a picture? When did he have the time to draw this?

She didn’t even know when Jephthah eyes snapped open and was casually scanning her.

He believed he was dreaming at first.

He had woken up to the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and had come to admire, straddling him on the bed.

However when he saw the paper, he reflexively sat up and yanked the paper from her hands, his face burning scarlet.

Talia gasped at how quickly he sat up and almost fell back but he held her in by the waist and pulled her close, the paper in his hands falling to the ground.

A shaky breath escaped her lips when she realized their comprising situation. Without thinking she grabbed his shoulders and made to get up but ended up landing on him again.

Jepthaph eyes grew wide and his face could be mistaken for a tomatoe when he felt her grind against him.

He sucked in a sharp intake of breath.

"I’m... sorry ...I..." She made to move, especially when she felt something hard suddenly prick her down there. It was her turn to blush. It felt so...big!

Jepthaph leaned back as she stood up.

"Everyone’s in the hallway...y-you should be there too" She suddenly sounded like an Android as she told him this without blinking and rushed away, face burning.

Jephthah groaned as he buried his face in his two hands.

She will probably never talk to him for two reasons.

One, she saw a sketch of her in his room and probably thinks he’s a weird creep who stays up all night musing over her.

Two, it looked like he suddenly wanted to take advantage of her. He didn’t know what happened but her face suddenly turned red. Did she think he was someone like that?

After groaning for a while, he washed his face and cleaned up before joining the others.

"Okay guys...since we’re all complete. I should tell you all why I’ve gathered you here."

"Please do." Alpha Justin said while folding his arms.

"It’s about Nancy." Everyone leaned their heads in anxiety, wondering whether something bad had happened to her. "It’s her birthday today."

For a while no one spoke as they leaned back.

"If you weren’t a girl...I swear" Alpha Koan quietly muttered and began walking back to his room.

"You could have called your friends and told them about this. Did you have to wake the entire household for this?" Alpha Justin began leaving for his room as well.

The others felt Talia was just being sweet and decided to stay, even the women. Dora was ready to go in with Daniel but he wasn’t showing any sign of leaving so she grumpily stayed.

Talia puffed and huffed as she ran forward, past the two Alphas, only turning to spread her arms and back away, barring their way.

"Nancy is my friend...My best friend. I know her story and I know how much this will mean to her. Just because you’re Alphas doesn’t give you two the rights to just walk out from something important...I mean...Daniel is there too."

Everyone almost gasped out loud at her boldness. Jephthah was so stunned he just left his mouth open like a goldfishfish.

It wasn’t Justin’s hard core gaze she was worried about, she felt like she was going to melt from Alpha Koan’s steamy, hot gaze. The bright blue eyes exuded a chilling aura that almost froze her arms in the air.

"I know how much you guys want to be back in your beds right now and how I caused much of a ruckus this morning... But I’m doing this for my best friend because I know she deserves it and... you can punish me later on. We’re going to do this." Her voice was firm but inside of her, she was trembling like a thin leaf in the wind. She felt like her legs would give way and she would fall to the ground.

Daniel felt her. He understood her and what she meant. Those days at Dark Risers’s pack when he was little, he felt the way she did. He felt he could do anything for her no matter the consequences.

Naomi.

His heart hurt when she crossed his memories again.

I miss you just as much as I hate you for leaving me here right now. If only you knew how I need you.

He suddenly thought about Naomi. The other one who made him feel hurt as much as the former one did. It was almost as if they were the same person...

He suddenly walked forward and stood beside Talia. She was so breathless and scared, she thought she was going to faint in his arms.

"We’re going to do it. Just for friendship sake." He firmly said, staring Justin in the eyes but not daring to stare into Koan’s for too long. This went on for long and the Betas thought they were going to separate a fight this morning when Koan finally said.

"Two minutes. Not a second more. I don’t have time for childish shit like this. Hell, you could have just wished her a happy birthday yourself." He bluntly said.

"I guess for Henry’s sake, I wouldn’t mind." Justin adds, sighing.

With that, the two turned back while Talia grabbed Daniel, enfolding him into a hug.

"Thank you...thank you...thank you ..." She whispered severally while he managed a smile, too surprised to hug her back. He however, pulled away when he felt a hot searing gaze coming from someone amongst the others.
