HER ALPHA'S CARNAL SINS -
Chapter 154: This is over
Chapter 154: This is over
"Talia."
Crunching of leaves, the sound of the wind swishing, tussling back his hair as he tried to catch up with her quick strides.
"Talia!"
With clenched teeth, he grabbed her elbow and spinned her around only to turn sideways as he felt a sharp pain on his cheek.
She had slapped him.
Turning, the pain on his cheek turning numb, he saw the tears welling up in her eyes.
"You know, you could have picked a better time to act like such a mute a*shole!" She shot at him, wiping her cheek with the back of her hand.
"What did you expect me to say? He clearly wanted to speak to you... "
"You know," She interrupted him, chuckling bitterly, with tears still welling up in her eyes. "Sometimes you could try to act like a REAL boyfriend. Cardin is my best friend... and we both know he thinks something is going to happen between us, but I’m pretty sure he’ll get the message that I’m not interested if you step in and tell him to back off."
He frowned slightly, leaning back to face her squarely.
"Sh*t, you made me look so stupid. You knew I wanted us to talk, and the next minute Cardin’s trying to talk to me, and you act like I don’t even exist anymore."
He said nothing, just standing there, watching her vent out all her frustration.
"I’ve always respected the fact that you’re... socially distant and can’t really speak up in some situations, but this concerns us. Or... don’t you just care? Are you exhausted? I mean, it’s not even up to a month yet, are you f**king tired?!"
He threw his head back to the sky, stars glistening in his eyes, his hands moving back to rake his hand over his hair, before he slowly lowered his head.
"You probably did respect that fact about me when we were little, but I think you lost your patience when we grew up," Talia’s eyes widened before they narrowed at his words again. "You can’t just tell a baby to ride a bike at birth, can you? You teach that child how to actually ride a bike... you start with training wheels, you help with the pushing and everything... you’re always supportive, always present to witness him get a few scratches before he finally can ride a bike without your support or training wheels, right?"
She shrugged, avoiding his eyes.
"What are you saying?"
"The only thing you’ve ever cared about was how much effort I put into the relationship. How much I call... how much I text. Talia, you’ve never actually supported me. You’ve never really cared to help me."
"What do you need help with? I mean I’m not blind! I would have helped you if I knew exactly what your problem is, right?" She snapped, yelling at him, veins producting at the sides of her head.
"Everything is my problem, but you don’t seem to care!" He yelled back at her, and she shrank under his voice, chest rising and falling, yet her eyes widened on hearing him.
"I do care, okay? And yes... I do have emotions like a normal human. I do get jealous when I see you around Cardin... I get angry too, but you just can’t expect me and break things up between you two. You have been best friends longer than we have been. You’re supposed to tell him to back off and not me. You always expect everything of me because I’m the boyfriend and you’re the girlfriend. If I don’t call, you won’t. If I don’t text, you won’t. I know, growing up, I was never really a good friend to begin with, but you never bothered to know what was wrong with me"
He stepped closer to her but she backed away, glancing to the side, tears dropping down her cheeks, brows furrowing in anger.
"I admit I hurt you while we were growing up, and I apologized. I was really, honestly sorry, but now, I’ve just come to realize that we’ve only focused on your side of our story. Have you ever thought of what my side is all about Talia?" He swallowed painfully when she wouldn’t even look at him.
"I’m trying to be the sweet, outgoing, supportive boyfriend you’ve always wanted... I mean.. since you don’t like the real me, I might as well be the boyfriend you want, right?"
"If I wanted to date an actual sweet, social outgoing freak who’s sincerely supportive, I would have dated Cardin, or better yet, John."
There was a standstill silence as they just stared at each other, Jephthah’s eyes twitching from so many emotions swirling in them.
"Then why me?" He whispered, backing away to stare at her whole, as if scared her answer would hurt him like a gun shot— a bullet going through his chest.
"I don’t know." She whispered, looking away.
Silence.
"Wow." A tear dropped from his eyes as he smiled painfully, rubbing his hand across his face before staring to the side, cupping his jaw.
Talia shut her eyes, folding her lips in, forcing the muffled cry back in, aware she had made him cry.
"Maybe I need to rephrase my question."
"Jephthah." She said, turning to him, a warning, pleading tone in her broken voice.
He stepped closer to her again, and she stood there, tilting her head to stare up at him.
"How could a beautiful, perfect Beta’s daughter of Blood Moon’s pack who can get anyone want to date someone like me?"
She pursed her lips, and glanced down.
When she didn’t reply, he casually nodded, concealing the pain in his eyes.
"You know, when I always thought of my future Luna, I always had a supportive woman in mind. Someone who’d actually want to know the real me and love the real me, AND support the real me without complaining about everything little thing I do wrong... "
"And you said I wasn’t supportive enough," Talia cut in, swallowing an imaginary big pill before saying in a hushed whisper, casually shrugging. "I guess you didn’t picture me when you had your future Luna in mind, did you?"
He was about to reply when she added,
"Gosh I’m just so stupid," She suddenly chuckled. "I’m working myself over being your future partner... what if we’re not even fated mates? Then what Jephthah?"
His heart shattered hearing her words, and his throat ran dry as he forced himself to reply her.
"Then I hope your real mate’s out there... your dream mate. Who’ll support you, and love you like the perfect mate you’ve always wanted me to be but I couldn’t."
Talia bit her lower lip, before forcing herself to look at him, a small smirk cracking on her face.
"Are you... breaking up with me?"
"I’m not you Talia. I actually have a conscience."
"What makes you think so?"
"Because I love you too much to hurt you," he snapped and yelled at her again, and her eyes widened. "But you... you ’don’t know’." He used her words against her. "If you don’t even know why we’re dating, then why go through all the trouble of wanting us together?"
"Well, since I’m the one who hasn’t got a conscience, then maybe I should relieve you of me as your burden and break up with you instead."
"I can’t tell if you’re that immature or just crazy." Jephthah muttered, annoyed.
"Isn’t it what you want?"
"Really? Did I say that? Or are you in a hurry to get back with Cardin, your supposedly perfect mate?"
Tears flowed down her face like a stream and he stiffened, heart cleanching in pain seeing her hurt.
"F**k you Jephthah." She whispered, and tried to walk past him, not glancing at his profile even once, not until, he grabbed her arm, calmly dragging her back to her previous position.
"Hey," he cooed, rubbing off the wrinkles that had gathered on his forehead. "Let’s just talk this out, okay?"
"There’s nothing else to talk about." She snapped.
"We had a silly argument. It’s normal for couples to fight, right? Let’s just make up." He casually got close to hold her, but she stepped back.
"You’re sick." She cursed, and he bit his inner lips, holding back a hurt look. "You don’t know a thing about relationships, do you? You don’t know what it means to love and care about someone’s feelings, do you?"
He just stared at her with a blank expression.
"You’re... " She paused before she turned to him again. "You’re just an Android, aren’t you?"
"An Android werewolf," he smirked bitterly. "Really thought you were smarter than this Talia. Are we really going to let this little fight get In between us like some stupid barricade."
"There’s no us." She spat out, and the small smile on his face froze before it slowly fell.
"You ended this the minute you didn’t think I was supportive enough to be by your side... to love you... "
He chewed on his lips before he spoke up again.
"So, you’re saying this is over? It hasn’t been a month, and I don’t know what exactly happened here, but that’s it? You just... you’re ending this? It hasn’t even started, not until all these happened with the Kitsunes and everything, and you just want to end this?"
"Yes." Came her short cold reply.
After a while he just nodded and backed away, giving her room to leave if she wanted .
"Ok." Came his colder reply, and with tears in his eyes, he watched her leave before settling on the ground, burying his face in palm, bawling his eyss out like a child.
