Chapter 93: The Unveiling of Laxus
Chapter 93: The Unveiling of Laxus
However, seeing the usually gentle and kind Ragar throw a cute little puppy like that was so unexpected, Rocco couldn’t help but look at him in confusion.
As Rocco stood frozen in place, the two of them continued to glare at Laxus, and then Georgio muttered in a low voice.
"...I knew something was off the first time I saw you, but... you’re a Beastman, aren’t you?"
"...It seems my feeling of sensing a superior presence wasn’t a mistake after all."
"W-What? A Beastman? Superior? What does that mean?"
Rocco was left completely clueless, but it seemed like the two of them were ignoring him entirely.
The tense standoff between the three continued in silence for a few seconds.
Then, a voice Rocco had never heard before cut through the quiet.
"Ah, I see. You’ve figured it out."
The voice sounded playful and completely unfazed by the murderous intent from the two of them.
Rocco quickly turned his gaze toward the source of the voice and, upon seeing the person standing there, his mouth fell open in shock.
"Wha-what? Laxus...?"
Instead of the familiar, fluffy Laxus, there was a breathtakingly handsome man with pure black hair standing in the same spot.
Rocco vaguely noticed that the man’s red eyes seemed similar to his dog, and just as that thought crossed his mind, the man flashed a smile at him and answered lightly.
"it’s me Master, your precious adorable dog."
...
Laxus Del Fiore.
A key character from the popular novel "Whispers of Steel and Starlight," he is the second protagonist who eventually becomes Sylas’s true love.
In the original plot, Laxus’s first appearance was supposed to take place three years from now, during a groundbreaking joint party between the two rival families.
The event, held when Sylas was fifteen, marked Laxus’s first encounter with the Di Malvento family.
At least, that’s how it was meant to happen.
"I let my guard down because I thought I was dealing with a useless ’Master’s’ sidekick. However, I’m never thought I’d get caught this quickly."
The man who stood there now had completely replaced his fluffy dog, Laxus.
If Rocco wasn’t mistaken, this figure bore a striking resemblance to the illustrations of Laxus from his previous life—a character whose face he had seen more than his own parents.
The resemblance wasn’t just strong; it was uncanny.
The man looked like a slightly younger version of that Laxus, down to the last detail.
What’s happening?
What the heck is going on here?
Rocco’s head was spinning in utter confusion.
The Del Fiore and Di Malvento families maintained a strict policy of non-interference with each other, but their relationship was far from amicable.
In fact, they were bitterly antagonistic.
Yet here stood this smiling young man—a member of the Del Fiore family—right in the center of enemy territory.
And somehow, he showed no fear whatsoever.
His crescent-moon grin was fixed firmly on Rocco’s eyes, his beautiful red eyes gleaming with amusement.
"So, uh, does this count as a declaration of war or something?"
Georgio, who had just set a dizzy Rocco down on the floor, muttered with a crooked grin.
His relaxed tone belied the sharp glint of danger in his eyes.
Without hesitation, Georgio slid his hand under the hem of his shirt and pulled something out with practiced ease.
A swift, smooth motion revealed the object in full—a folding knife with a wickedly sharp blade.
"G-Georgio? W-wait! Don’t go swinging something that dangerous around—"
Feeling an ominous chill run down his spine, Rocco hastily tried to intervene, cold sweat dripping from his brow.
But it was too late.
Georgio raised his knife with quick movement and, in the blink of an eye—so fast it seemed like teleportation—darted toward Laxus.
"Don’t you dare touch my angel."
For the briefest of moments, Georgio’s usual carefree, mocking grin disappeared.
What replaced it was a hollow, expressionless mask, as if all emotions had been drained away—an unsettling, abyss-like darkness.
His outstretched hand twitched once before freezing entirely, his body stiffening under the weight of instinctual fear.
A sharp metallic clang rang out, the sound startling Rocco so badly that he flinched.
Before he could fully process what was happening, Ragar scooped him up tightly in his arms.
When he peeked from Ragar’s embrace, Rocco saw the source of the noise: Laxus who is holding a dagger.
Laxus had intercepted Georgio’s attack with his weapon, his face lit with a look of pure enjoyment.
"How bold. I’m delighted," Laxus said with a sly grin. "I’ve always wanted to cross blades with the infamous Georgio the Hyena."
"...Hmph. Sorry to disappoint you," Georgio replied, his voice cool and dismissive. "I’m not interested in you at all. I’m just here to swat away the pests who are trying to steal my sweet, precious honey."
Isn’t this supposed to be a BL fantasy novel?
Rocco thought while staring at the scene in front of him with bewilderment.
When did this world turn into an action fantasy novel?
To an outsider, this could easily be mistaken for the final showdown between a protagonist and a villain.
Rocco, on the other hand, felt like a background extra.
A minor villain from the opening Chapters, at best.
Snuggling closer into Ragar’s embrace, Rocco nudged him subtly.
"Let’s move back a little," he whispered.
Rocco had Ragar retreat to the edge of the window, he observing the unfolding battle in front of him while miming air-popped popcorn in one hand.
Honestly, he still couldn’t make sense of the situation—or maybe his mind just refused to keep up.
All he could do now was watch the show.
"That’s right. I’m not particularly interested in Georgio the Hyena either," Laxus said with a smirk. "My focus is entirely on your master over there. He’s got my attention completely locked down."
With a sudden, disarming smile directed his way, Rocco blinked in surprise.
Wait, me?
He panicked and averted his gaze in a flustered attempt to escape the unwanted attention.
